The fire suddenly flared up when more firewood was added, and the two wolves backed away cautiously, but their tongues still hung out, their green eyes never leaving the group.
Wyatt Parker's face was grim as he said, "This isn't sustainable. We have to find a way to subdue these two wolves."
"What should we do?"
"The wolves are very close to us. We need someone with quick reflexes to distract them, and then we'll rush in with wooden sticks and hit them hard on their heads. But we have to move fast. If we're too slow, the person who distracted them might get bitten."
The tension in the air was palpable. People were selfish and no one wanted to be the one to distract the wolves.
Amelia thought Wyatt Parker's idea was good. At worst, even if they were too slow, not too many people would get hurt, so the damage would be minimized.
"I'll do it!" a hearty male voice shouted.
The voice was loud, as if the person was cheering himself on. It was the same black-faced boy who had been persuaded to abandon Amelia earlier, but had been unable to go through with it.
Amelia raised an eyebrow slightly. The fact that someone could step forward at this time meant that he was not a selfish person. This made Amelia believe that the boy's suggestion to abandon her earlier had been made out of consideration for everyone's safety.
The boy's name was Logan Hunter. He was dark and muscular, and his name suited him well.
Under the gaze of the crowd, Logan Hunter cautiously approached the two wolves.
Sure enough, the deep green eyes of the wolves noticed Logan Hunter's movements in an instant. They stared at him warily, baring their teeth threateningly!
Logan Hunter swallowed hard. He considered himself to be bold and daring, but he was sweating profusely now.
He took a deep breath and quickly moved forward a few steps, causing the two wolves to howl and pounce at him. At this point, Logan Hunter didn't run away. Instead, he raised the stones he had picked up earlier and provocatively threw them at the wolves.
The stones didn't hit, but the two wolves were finally enraged. They howled and rushed towards Logan Hunter.
"Hurry! Right now!" Wyatt Parker shouted loudly.
Wyatt Parker and another boy reacted the quickest and charged towards one of the wolves, hitting its back with a stick, which enraged the wolf. The two of them fiercely fought the wolf, which seemed to have been injured in the spine by the previous strike of the stick and had some stiffness in its movements. They had the upper hand and were about to subdue the wolf soon.
However, the plan could not keep up with the changes. In the midst of the howling of the wolves, fear overwhelmed reason.
Only Wyatt Parker and the other boy rushed to the front, while the others were either slow to react or intentionally lagged behind. But in this emergency, being two steps behind could ruin everything and cause the plan to fail.
The other wolf that was not blocked naturally pounced on Logan Hunter, who was acting as bait. Logan Hunter was knocked to the ground, and the sharp claws of the wolf scratched his arm. The wolf's large mouth, reeking of a foul odor, dripped with saliva and was about to bite his jugular vein. Logan Hunter desperately clutched the wolf's mouth.
At this point, the others who held sticks did not rush to rescue him at the first opportunity. Instead, they were frightened by the situation before them. They were still just pampered children from high-end households.
Logan Hunter felt the wolf's teeth less than a centimeter away from his neck. Under the chilling atmosphere, his whole neck was covered in goosebumps, and at that moment, he really felt like the Grim Reaper was coming.
...
At the military base, there was a commotion.
Some people believed that they should have opened the smoke bombs on the monitor a long time ago, but even if they did it now, it would be too late.
A team of people could not handle two hungry wolves. They were simply unworthy to be students of Saint Hua and should be eliminated altogether.
Others believed that since it was already too late, why not wait a little longer and give these people another chance.
Both sides held their ground and stared fixedly at the screen.
