Wei Zhao took a deep breath as he gazed out at the vast, rolling hills that surrounded his small village. He had lived here his entire life, and he couldn't imagine living anywhere else. The village was peaceful and quiet, and the people were friendly and welcoming. But despite the idyllic surroundings, there was a sense of unease that permeated the air.
Everyone in the village knew that the beasts ruled this world. They were the dominant species, with incredible strength and intelligence. The villagers were nothing more than prey to them, and they were constantly on the lookout for any signs of danger.
Wei Zhao had grown up with this fear, but he had also grown up with a group of close friends who he could always count on. They had all been born in the same year, and they had grown up together, playing in the fields and exploring the nearby woods.
Wei Zhao walked through the dense forest with his friends, his gaze scanning the ground for any signs of fruits or small game. The sun was already high in the sky, and they had been out since early morning.
"Hey, Wei Zhao, have you heard about the latest beast attack in the neighboring village?" one of his friends asked, breaking the comfortable silence.
Wei Zhao shook his head. "No, what happened?"
"A group of beasts attacked the village last night. They say that a few people were killed," another friend chimed in.
Wei Zhao's heart sank. The beasts were becoming more aggressive, and it seemed like they were targeting human settlements more frequently. He had always been wary of them, but hearing about the attacks made him even more nervous.
"We should be careful out here," he warned his friends. "We don't want to run into any beasts."
The group continued on in silence for a while longer, until one of Wei Zhao's friends, a boy named Xiao Yu, spoke up.
"I heard that some of the more powerful beasts have started taking humans as their slaves," he said, his voice hushed.
Wei Zhao's blood ran cold. He had heard rumors of this too, but he didn't want to believe them. The idea of being enslaved by a beast was terrifying.
"I don't want to be anyone's slave," another friend, a girl named Mei Ling'er, said firmly. "We need to be strong enough to protect ourselves."
Wei Zhao nodded in agreement. He had been practicing his cultivation techniques diligently, hoping to one day become strong enough to protect himself and his loved ones from the beasts.
As they walked, they began to gather fruits and hunt rabbits, their conversation shifting to lighter topics. But the tension in the air remained, a constant reminder of the danger that lurked in the forest.
Suddenly, they heard a rustling in the bushes nearby. Wei Zhao's heart skipped a beat as he unsheathed his hunting knife, ready for whatever might come.
But what emerged from the bushes was something they never expected.
A beast, its fur matted and dirty, stared at them with hungry eyes. Wei Zhao and his friends froze, unsure of what to do.
His friend, the group leader, stepped forward, a look of determination on his face. "We can take it," he said, his voice low and steady. "We might as well go down fighting."
Wei Zhao's heart sank. He didn't want to die, and he didn't want his friends to die either. But he knew that they had no choice. They were vastly outmatched, and the beast was hungry.
The beast was a towering creature, easily three times the size of a grown man, with fur as black as night and sharp, gleaming teeth. Wei Zhao and his friends knew they were no match for it, but they also knew they had to try. With their makeshift weapons in hand, they charged at the beast, hoping to distract it long enough for one of them to make a killing blow.
The beast was swift and powerful, easily dodging their attacks and swatting them away with its massive paws. Wei Zhao felt his heart pounding in his chest as he saw his friends falling one by one, their bodies battered and broken by the beast's ferocious attacks.
"We need to fight!" shouted their group leader, a tall and muscular man, named Liu Hao. "We can't just stand here and let the beast devour us."
Wei Zhao nodded in agreement, clutching his weapon tightly. He looked to his other friends, hoping to see some sign of courage in their eyes. But they only looked more scared than ever before.
The beast charged towards them, its sharp claws and teeth glinting in the sunlight. Wei Zhao and Liu Hao were the only ones who stepped forward to meet the beast's attack.
The battle was fierce and brutal, with both sides exchanging blow after blow. Wei Zhao and Liu Hao fought with all their might, determined to protect their friends.
But as the fight wore on, Wei Zhao began to tire. He stumbled back, barely dodging a deadly swipe from the beast's claws. In that split second, Liu Hao took the opportunity to strike. He plunged his weapon into the beast's heart.
Wei Zhao collapsed to the ground, exhausted and bleeding. He looked up at Liu Hao, grateful for his friend's bravery.
"Thank you," he whispered before darkness overtook him.
"I only wish, I could've killed all those beasts "
The beast swiped at him with its claws, tearing through his flesh and sending him flying through the air. He felt a searing pain in his chest as he crashed to the ground, his vision blurring and his consciousness slipping away.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Wei Zhao is a simple office worker, leading a monotonous life of 9 to 5 every day. He had always been fascinated by stories of heroes and mythical creatures, dreaming of adventures in far-off lands. However, he never had the courage to pursue his dreams and instead settled for a mundane existence.
Despite his unremarkable life, Wei Zhao was a kind-hearted and empathetic person, always willing to help others. He had a sharp mind and was quick to adapt to new situations, but lacked the physical strength and skills required for combat.
Wei Zhao often found solace in reading books and playing video games, where he could escape to different worlds and live vicariously through the characters. He had a particular fondness for RPGs and fantasy novels, where he could immerse himself in epic battles and fantastical settings.
Wei Zhao feels his body hit by a truck and the ground with a thud, and then everything goes black. He doesn't remember anything after that.
Suddenly, he awakens in a strange place, with a lectern light shining down on him. He tries to move, but his body feels heavy, and his head is pounding with pain. Wei Zhao struggles to remember what happened to him. The last thing he recalls is crossing the street and then seeing the lights of an approaching truck.
Wei Zhao begins to panic, wondering if he is dead. He takes a deep breath, trying to calm himself down, and then slowly opens his eyes.
He suddenly feels a strange sensation, as if something is pulling at his body. He gasps as he feels a sudden rush of energy flow into him.
"What is happening to me?" Wei Zhao asks, confused and frightened.
Suddenly, a voice spoke to him, echoing in his mind.
"Greetings, host. I am the Ultimate System of Beast Slaying. I can offer you immense power to slay all beasts that threaten this world. Will you accept my offer?"
Wei Zhao sat up, his head throbbing as he took in his surroundings. He was lying on a bed in a small hut, and the walls were made of straw and mud. He felt different like he was in someone else's body. Then he remembered the truck and how he died. Wei Zhao felt a sudden surge of panic and disbelief, but then his head was filled with all of the memory that he inherited from the previous Wei Zhao.
"YES, I accept," he said to the system.
He closed his eyes and focused his mind on activating the system. Suddenly, a voice spoke to him in his mind, "Welcome, host. I am the Ultimate System for Beast Annihilation. I will guide you on your path to slay all the beasts and become the strongest warrior in this world."
Wei Zhao felt a wave of excitement wash over him. He knew that he had a chance to make a difference in this world and protect his loved ones from the beasts that had killed the previous Wei Zhao and his friends. "What can you do, System?" Wei Zhao asked.
"I can provide you with information on the beasts, their weaknesses, and how to defeat them. I can also grant you powerful abilities and skills that will aid you in battle. But to use them, you must consume the souls of the beasts you kill. The more powerful the beast, the stronger the soul, and the greater the reward."
Wei Zhao's eyes widened in amazement. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. "So, I can become stronger by defeating beasts and consuming their souls?"
"Yes, that is correct, host. With my guidance and your determination, you will become the ultimate beast slayer." the System replied.
Wei Zhao closed his eyes and focused on the Beast Annihilation System within him. As he did, he felt a screen materialize in his mind, displaying his stats and cultivation realm.
