Chapter 16 - HELPING OUT 16

Qing Eena sat alone in his room, lost in thought. The recent events of his life had him contemplating the nature of the world he lived in. It was a world filled with danger and uncertainty, where even children had to be prepared for the worst.

He couldn't help but feel a sense of sadness for the children of this world. It wasn't fair that they had to give up their childhoods to survive. But at the same time, he understood that it was a necessity.

As he sat there, he started to have a conversation with himself. "It's really sad, isn't it?" he said. "That kids have to grow up so fast just to survive."

"But that's the way it is," he continued. "We live in a world where danger lurks around every corner. We have to be prepared for anything, and that includes our children."

He paused for a moment, lost in thought. "It's not just about survival though. It's also about strength. The earlier we learn to be mature and responsible, the stronger we become. It's a harsh reality, but it's one we have to face."

Qing couldn't help but wonder if there was a way to make things better. A way to protect the children of this world without forcing them to give up their childhoods. But he knew that such a solution would be difficult to find.

He took a deep breath and stood up, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. "I may not be able to change the world," he thought to himself. "But I can make a difference in my own way."

---

Qing Eena woke up early in the morning, ready to help his parents at their fish stall in the public market. He had been helping out at the stall ever since he was a child, and he had become quite good at it. He knew how to clean and scale fish with lightning speed and precision, and he could cut them according to the customers' preferences.

As he arrived at the stall, he saw his parents already busy preparing the fish. His father, Lucio, was cleaning a huge milkfish, while his mother, Karla, was busy cutting tilapia. They greeted him with a smile, happy to have their son's help.

"Good morning, Qing!" Lucio said, his hands covered in fish scales. "Ready to get to work?"

"Of course, Dad," Qing replied, rolling up his sleeves. "Let's make sure we have the best fish stall in the market!"

Karla handed Qing a knife and a fish, and he got to work, quickly and expertly cutting it into pieces. As he worked, customers began to arrive at the stall, attracted by the fresh fish and the free de-scaling and bone removal that the stall offered.

"Good morning, Lucio and Karla!" a customer greeted them, smiling. "I heard you have the best fish in the market!"

"We certainly do, my friend!" Lucio replied, his voice booming. "And we offer free de-scaling and bone removal! How can we help you today?"

As Qing worked, his parents talked with the customers, offering them advice on how to cook the fish and sharing stories about their own experiences with cooking and eating fish. Qing listened to their conversations, learning more about the market and the people who frequented it.

"You're getting good at this, Qing," Karla said, looking at her son with pride. "Maybe you should consider opening your own fish stall someday."

"I don't know, Mom," Qing replied, smiling. "I like helping out here. It's good to be part of the family business."

As the day went on, the stall grew busier and busier, with customers coming and going at a steady pace. Qing worked hard, cutting fish and helping customers, his hands moving with incredible speed and dexterity.

At one point, a customer asked for a special cut of fish that Qing had never done before. His parents were busy with other customers, so he took on the challenge himself. It took him a few tries, but he eventually got it right, impressing the customer and earning a compliment from his parents.

"You're a natural, son," Lucio said, clapping Qing on the back. "Maybe someday you'll even surpass us in skill!"

Qing smiled, feeling grateful for his parents' encouragement and support. He knew that the fish stall was just a small part of their lives, but it was a part that brought them together as a family and helped them make a living.

As the day drew to a close, Qing helped his parents pack up the remaining fish and clean the stall. They chatted and laughed together, enjoying the simple pleasures of family and hard work. And as they walked home, tired but happy, Qing knew that he had learned valuable lessons about life and the importance of family and tradition.

This was just one day at the fish stall, but there would be many more to come. And as Qing grew older and more skilled, he knew that he would always be proud to be part of the Lucio and Karla Fish Stall.

---

Qing Eena woke up early in the morning, feeling excited to go to the public market with his Uncle Tito Mintis. As he got ready, he thought about the daily list of fish that his parents would send to his uncle every day. He knew that his uncle would be waiting for him outside, ready to buy the freshest and best quality milkfish and tilapia for his parents' fish stall.

As he walked out of the house, he saw his uncle's van parked outside, its engine still running. "Good morning, Uncle Tito!" Qing greeted him with a smile as he climbed into the passenger seat.

"Good morning, Qing! Ready to go to the market?" Uncle Tito replied with a grin.

"Definitely! I'm excited to help you pick the best fish for my parents' stall," Qing said with enthusiasm.

As they drove towards the market, Uncle Tito told Qing stories about his experiences in the public market. He told him about the people he met, the vendors he haggled with, and the different kinds of fish he had to choose from. Qing listened intently, fascinated by the lively world of the public market.

When they arrived at the market, Uncle Tito parked the van in a spot that was reserved for him. They stepped out of the van and were greeted by the bustling sounds and smells of the market. Vendors were shouting, customers were bargaining, and the smell of freshly cooked food filled the air.

"Let's start with milkfish, shall we?" Uncle Tito said, pulling out his phone to check the list. "Your parents need six pieces for today."

Qing nodded and followed his uncle as he made his way through the narrow alleys of the market, past vendors selling fruits, vegetables, and other kinds of seafood. They eventually arrived at a stall that specialized in milkfish. The vendor greeted them with a smile.

"Good morning, Tito Mintis! What can I get for you today?" the vendor asked.

"I need six pieces of milkfish, the freshest ones you have," Uncle Tito replied.

The vendor nodded and quickly selected six of the best-looking milkfish from his ice-filled tub. He handed them to Uncle Tito, who inspected them carefully before nodding in approval.

"These are perfect. How much do I owe you?" Uncle Tito asked.

"Two hundred and fifty pesos, Tito," the vendor said with a grin.

Uncle Tito handed him the money and they moved on to the next stall, where they bought the tilapia. Qing helped his uncle select the best tilapia, making sure that they were free of blemishes and had clear eyes.

As they made their way back to the van, carrying bags of fish in their hands, Uncle Tito turned to Qing and said, "You know, Qing, the public market is more than just a place to buy and sell things. It's a place where you can meet new people, learn new things, and connect with your community. Your parents' fish stall is a part of that community, and you're helping to keep that tradition alive."

Qing smiled and nodded, feeling proud to be a part of his parents' business and the larger community of the public market. As they drove back home, he couldn't wait to see the happy faces of his parents as they received the fresh fish for their stall.

---

As the family sat down at the dinner table, the delicious aroma of the food filled the air. Qing's mother, Karla, couldn't help but comment on how wonderful the food smelled. "Oh my, Qing, you've outdone yourself again. The Nilagang Baboy looks so tender and the Bicol Express looks spicy and flavorful," she said, her mouth already watering.

Qing beamed with pride. "Thanks, Mom. I've been practicing a lot lately, trying out new recipes and experimenting with different flavors."

His father, Lucio, chuckled. "Looks like you've inherited your mom's passion for cooking. I remember when we first met, she cooked me the best Bicol Express I've ever had."

Karla blushed at the memory. "Oh stop it, you're making me blush," she said, laughing.

Uncle Tito, who was already digging into his plate of Bopis, added, "I must say, this is the best Bopis I've ever had. You've definitely got some skills, kid."

Qing smiled, feeling grateful for his family's compliments. "I'm just glad you guys like it. I wanted to make something special tonight since we're all here together."

As they ate, the family talked about their day. Qing shared his latest dungeon diving adventure, recounting the monsters he had faced and the treasures he had found. His parents and uncle listened intently, asking questions and marveling at his bravery.

Karla then shared some gossip she had heard at the fish stall earlier that day. "Did you guys hear about Mrs. Cruz's daughter getting engaged? Apparently, she's going to marry that rich businessman from Manila."

Lucio raised an eyebrow. "Really? I didn't know she had a daughter. And marrying a rich businessman? Good for her, I suppose."

Tito snorted. "Money can't buy you happiness, Lucio. Remember that."

The conversation continued on into the night, the family enjoying each other's company and the delicious food that Qing had prepared. As they finished their meal, Qing's parents and uncle got ready to leave.

"Thanks for the wonderful dinner, Qing. You're turning into quite the chef," Karla said, giving him a hug.

Lucio patted Qing on the back. "Keep up the good work, son. I'm proud of you."

Tito ruffled Qing's hair. "And don't forget to bring some of that Bopis to the fish stall tomorrow. I have a feeling it's going to be a busy day."

Qing smiled as he watched his family leave. He felt lucky to have such a supportive and loving family, and he knew that he would always treasure these moments together. As he cleared the dishes, he couldn't help but think about what other adventures awaited him in the future, both in the dungeons and in the world outside.

---

Qing Eena sat nervously in the Hunter Association's conference room, waiting for the representative to arrive. He had been summoned to report about the unusual happenings in the Rank G Dungeon he had visited recently, and he knew that this meeting could make or break his reputation as a Hunter.

Finally, the door opened, and in walked a tall, imposing figure dressed in the Hunter Association's signature uniform. The representative introduced himself as Mr. Yami, and Qing quickly stood up to greet him.

"Mr. Eena, thank you for coming," Mr. Yami said in a deep, authoritative voice. "We have received reports about an outbreak of monster mutations in the Rank G Dungeon you visited. Can you please provide us with more information?"

Qing cleared his throat and began his report. "Yes, sir. I have observed a significant increase in the population of Venom Jelly in the beach-type setting of the dungeon. They are re-spawning at an alarming rate, and I fear that it could become a danger to solo Hunters who grind in that area."

Mr. Yami nodded thoughtfully. "I see. And have you been able to identify the cause of this sudden surge in population?"

Qing shook his head. "I have not been able to determine the cause, but I suspect that it may be due to environmental factors, such as changes in water temperature or pollution in the area."

Mr. Yami scribbled some notes on his pad. "Thank you for your report, Mr. Eena. We will take your findings into consideration and investigate further. In the meantime, we advise all Hunters to exercise caution when exploring this particular dungeon."

Qing breathed a sigh of relief. He had done his duty as a Hunter, and now he could relax a little. But he knew that there would always be more dungeons to explore and more dangers to face.

As he left the conference room and headed back to his apartment, Qing couldn't help but wonder what other challenges awaited him in the world of dungeon diving. He was determined to continue pushing the limits of his abilities and exploring the unknown, no matter what obstacles he may face.

The adventure was far from over, and Qing was ready for whatever came next.
