What game was he talking about? Skylar didn't comprehend that subtle provocation of his. She just wanted to explain him that she didn't trust him just like he didnt trust her, they both had their own trust issues on each other. Therefore he couldn't force her to drink or to trust him until he proved her he trusted her as well.
He was still close, the distance between their faces was brief and she could feel the breeze of his warm breath tickling on her upper lip. He stared at her right in the eyes. No internal and pride walls could resist to that staring.
No physical glasses could bar its fierce.
Until a man's voice interfered between them two, catching the Devil's attention.
"Demon, boss, we have a problem." the man said, not even minding if he was in the middle of something. He probably saw he was engaged in a chat with a woman so he supposed that wasn't important.
Demon immediately turned to face him, "what?"
"Subject 8 didn't pay his debt yet."
"Did you proceed with the plan B?" Was Demon's answer. His stare grew a bit angry and frustrated. With all the money he had, why did he even care about missed payments?
"Yes. Plan B didn't work." The man shrugged with non challance and for a fraction of a second he met Skylar's eyes. She could read a bit of confusion in his staring. Usually women would leave when something that important occured, but she didn't leave. He wondered who she was or why Demon didn't tell her to go.
Demon scoffed noisily at that answer then he nodded his head, "I see. Where is him?"
"We brought him here. Room 3."
"Alright."
Demon nodded, he turned to look at Skylar "do you want to get in this world? Then follow me."
He headed to a room followed by the man.
Skylar was slightly scaring, the fear she felt was enought to make her heart speed and cause her a tight on her chest but not fear enough not to make her accept his invite and follow him.
It was crazy how the more time she spent with him, fhe more she was attracted by that world. No wonder why It's so easy to get in that world but so hard to leave it.
She didn't know where he was going, she only knew that following him would prove him she was trust worthy and she was determined to get in his world. She would do anything to get close to him and to catch him.
Even risking her own life.
When they entered in the room, Skylar had to held her breath not to show her uncomfortability.
In the middle of the room sat a man, tied to a chair with his hands chained.
Three muscled men with their arms folded in front of him stood staring at him emotionless and guilty free. They must be expert in that world. Skylar frowned her eyes and tried to link those faces to the photos of Demon's dossier. She could recognize them, they were collaborators and drug dealers.
As soon as the tied man saw Demon he started to wriggle with both his arms and legs. He screamed in terror and began begging for mercy.
"I'm sorry" he screamed
"I will pay I promise." he cried out but Demon grunted and shook his head.
He walked in front of the poor man who now trembled and cried in fear.
He laid his head on his knees and began crying, "I'm sorry, don't hurt me. Please."
Demon began walking circularly around him as a lion in front of its prey.
"I raccomanded you not to cheat on me, I told you to keep your promises or you will pay the consenquences and now it's time you get what you deserve."
He stopped in front of the begging man and glowed at him with flaming eyes.
A slight tilt with his head and one of his drugdealers on the left proceeded to punch the poor man on the stomach with a strenght so immense to cause the chair to roll over and the man fell abruptly onto the floor.
"I will pay you I promise." He said as he kept crying.
"You dared to steal money to me??" Demon raised his voice and took a step closer to him.
"You know the saying never steal to the devil? it's like signing up for your death contract."
"I'm sorry." He kept crying. "I really am."
The man who punched him first now punched him again strongly. Again, on the stomach leaving the poor man coughing so badly that blood rose through his throat and leaked out of his mouth.
A red drop crossed his lips, flowing down his chin and leaving a red line on his sweaty skin.
The firstly cleared shining floor now was marked of red and the room now smelled of a distinctive metallic smell.
"I don't care, you had to be smart not sorry."
The bleeding man kept coughing as he pushed his forehead against the cold floor desperately as if he wanted to hurt himself. His heavy breath and his whining filled the room echoing through the walls and making Skylar shake for the guilt. She hated attending that scene and not being able to do anything to help that poor man.
She would never forgibe herself if she assisted to him getting killed in front of her.
But what could she do to help that man without risking losing her undercover?
Maybe that was a test to challenge her behaviour and see if she could bear that situation or she could keep that secret?
But Demon didnt even look at her, he seemed to have forgetton she was even there, he was just being cruelessly himself. No Wonder why everyone feared him, the way he looked at that poor man emotionless was far away from human.
Who the hell was him?
She couldn't bear that scene anymore.
The man who hit him on the stomach now charged for a second punch but this time Skylar took a step forward and let out a whine, "stop!"
