Chapter 11 - Chapter Eleven - Nothing Like Her

"Stop!" Skylar screamed as she took a step forward. The man who was about to hit glowered at Skylar and then glanced at Demon waiting for him to give the order to proceed.

Demon all of a sudden remembered Skylar, he looked at her, then at his henchman.

"Alright, I forgot women are here and we shall mind our manners in her presence." He snapped his tongue as he continued, "Madisyn you see, I hate when people deceive me."

"I see." Skylar murmured, "but I am sure there are other ways to discourage him to deceive besides violence."

The two henchmen looked at each other surprised and confused. How did she even dare to speak up to him and intrude in that situation?

"I just know violence as a method."

Demon gestured to his henchman ignoring Skylar, the man obeyed his boss's orders and proceeded to hit the poor man one more time on his nose.

He moaned in pain and started to cry.

Crying didn't work, causing the poor man to be hit one more time.

"Enough." Demon said staring Skylar right in the eyes.

Then he turned to look at the bleeding man folded on the floor.

"But Boss he deserves more than this. If we let him out immaculate people will think we are weak."

Demon curved down his eyebrows and his forehead creased.

"I didn't ask for your opinion. I said enough. Take him out of my sight."

The two servants nodded and freed the man and as soon as he got his hands free he began to run as quickly as he could.

The two henchmen left, when the one who hit the man walked by Skylar he shove her aside as if he was mad at her for intruding and not letting him finish his work.

They left leaving Demon in the room alone with Skylar.

"Don't ever try to get in the middle of my affairs like that."

Demon said with a low cold irritated voice.

"But you were the one who told me to follow you."

" I never said you could intervene didn't I?"

Skylar sighed, "if I didn't stop you, how far would you have gotten? Would you have killed him?" She asked, her voice raised slightly even if she tried her best efforts to hide her distress.

"Far enough to make him learn his lesson." He replied, contrary to her, his tone of voice was moderate and controlled.

"Far enough to kill him?" Skylar swallowed down, she wished she could see his eyes, she wondered if those were as emotionless as she imagined them to be.

He turned around and began walking to the door.

"Demon." She called for him but he didn't turn around.

"I accept to work for you only if I will never have to attend to a scene like that again. I don't want to see you hit someone to death again. I don't want to adhere to that."

He turned around at that request.

"You are too good for working for me. You shall consider losing this kindnessof yours if you start working for me."

"I will never lose it as it's part of me and I would never allow to lose myself."

Not again, she mentally finished her sentence. She wouldn't risk losing herself again, she would allow neither life nor him the power to bring her down. She lost herself once already when her parents died she had been in a dark place for more than 10 years, and it took her all her willpower and energy to get herself out of the condition she was in.

"I heard that sentence too many times to believe it. But now that you're in, it's too late for you to get out of this world. Next week you will do the delivery for me. You will do it alone, you're on your own, if things get complicated remember not to say my name and don't reveal anything you've seen till now. Got it?"

"Got it."

He turned around again and finally walked out of the door.

When she was alone, she took out her power recorder to check if she recorded everything. She smiled when she saw she got all the information she needed.

She stopped the recording and sent the file to her personal email.

She finally had something in tape, the first evidence she had against him.

She put the recorder back in her pocket and then she walked out. She ordered a cola and sat at a table at the bottom of the pub, staring from afar at Demon. He was so mysterious that she felt like the closer she got to him the more enigmatic he became.

As she stared at him catatonic, a woman walked to her table and sat in the empty chair in front of her.

"Who the hell are you?" She asked raising her eyebrow.

She wanted to ask that woman the same thing but that wouldn't be the right answer.

She had to lower herself to his level to keep her undercover.

Skylar returned her challenging stare and ignored her question, flaming her with anger.

"I am speaking to you!" The woman raised her voice and slammed her hand on the table.

"I heard you, there is no need to scream," Skylar replied, calmly, slowly turning her gaze from Demon to her.

That woman was beautiful, she had long red wavy hair and green eyes, her cheeks were drawn with light freckles and her lips were thin yet delicate.

That dainty look of hers was completely ruined by her lout attitude.

"Then answer, I had never seen you here before. Who are you?" She asked again, her eyebrows knitted down in a frown. Skylar caught a bit of jealousy in her voice. Was that Demon's girlfriend?

"I'm Madisyn Livingston, Charlotte's sister."

The woman shook her head and leaned closer to her, "No, you're not."

After a brief pause, that woman scanned Skylar attentively.

"I do know her personally, the real Madisyn Lavinston. and you look nothing like her."
