Maybe that was her occasion to finally see him. She felt so close to finally seeing his true identity, to finally getting to know him and getting close enough to be inserted in his crew of trusted people and collaborators.
He closed the door and sat on the chair of his desk, which was probably his office, the place where he could talk privately. At least now she had something more about him and she discovered the potential place where he met his collaborators or enemies. He stared at her attentively as if he was digging into her soul to discover who she truly was. He slid his cigarette on his lower lip and then gently inserted it in his mouth keeping it still thinning his lips, he lighted it off and inhaled the smoke.
In his office there was a bottle of whisky and a glass, he refilled the glass and took a few sips.
He stared at her quietly for two minutes which seemed such a long never ending time.
"Where did you learn that?" He asked after the pause.
"Learned what?" she asked confused.
"how to fight in that way?" He asked right away, without filters.
"When you're a woman you have to learn how to defend yourself from horny pervert men." That's probably the first true thing she said to him. She had to grow up alone and learn by herself how to defend herself from bad people.
He nodded, "I see..." After a brief silence, he took a puff from the cigarette, held the smoke in his mouth for a second, and then breathed out.
"Why did you have to learn how to defend yourself, Madisyn? Your sister didn't know how to do that." He said attentively.
Skylar swallowed down, fearing for a moment that her coverage would fall apart.
"One of us had to do the hard job and I ended up being that one," Skylar replied more wisely and promptly. She mentally promised herself that before revealing precious information she would think twice about it.
He nodded, probably buying her answer and believing her.
"I have a job for you." Demon stated.
"What kind of job do you have for me?" She unconsciously leaned forward with her body as if she was so excited and glad he would finally offer her another job. She hoped it would be better than the first one he offered earlier or at least more decent.
"I need someone to send weapons for me to Mexico. You have an easy simple quick task, you have to put the weapons in a box, and drive the car to the boundaries, then deliver them to another car. If you succeed in this task you could stay here and you will have my blessing and approbation." He explained what the job was about.
"Why do you need to send weapons to Mexico?" Skylar attempted to a question, even if it was pretty much obvious that Demon wouldn't answer.
"First lesson, never ask me questions, just do what I tell you to do and we won't have problems." Indeed, he replied frankly, letting her wonder if that was a threat or a suggestion. Or maybe both.
"What if you tell me to do bad things?" Skylar questioned, she stared at her reflection through his sunglasses, her heart skipped a beat, and the smoke of his cigar wrapped her and then evaporated. She felt even closer to him. So close that the truth was almost palpable and tangible to her.
"I only do bad things, Madisyn. Otherwise, I wouldn't be named as the devil himself, don't you think?" His voice was so deep and lowly meticulously controlled not to let any emotions transpire, he was such a warm voice. If that was a drug, Skylar wished she could get addicted to it and listen to it forever. She hated the effect he had on her because the last thing she wanted was to be vulnerable.
"If you're as evil as people describe you then why would you give me a job?" She questioned, tilting her head to the side. She wished she could even find a crumble of goodness in that man. How was it possible that someone could be as evil as the Devil self? Maybe people had been exaggerated and too harsh on him that he had to adapt to that description.
"Because by giving you this job I get something in return. A pretty woman with such a satisfied appearance like you would never be doubted by police or stopped by them. They wouldn't doubt you have something to do with me. So you would be able to trasport the weapons without capturing attention and the delivery would be easy and clear.."
"So I have to work for you for free?" At that question, he took a few seconds to think and then his answer was packed and ready.
"Exactly Madisyn. My acceptance and approbation will be the payback. Being in my good graces would be much useful for you. So tell me, do you accept this job?"
