Sig looked over to the other side of the glass curiously, where he saw Alex with his knife plunged deep into the wolf's skull. This led him to the realization that a certain tactic of his might work against the next waves of creatures. But there was no time to dwell on it, as the third wave was already upon them. This time, the creature was much larger than the previous ones, and its body appeared to be in a state of decomposition. It stood tall on two legs and emitted a foul stench that filled the room, causing Sig's heightened sense of smell to be even more unbearable.
The next wave brought in a new enemy, a ghoul. Unlike the previous opponents, this creature was different in both appearance and demeanor. The ghoul's emaciated body was covered in layers of decaying flesh, with bits of bone and sinew exposed in various places. Its sunken eyes glowed with a dark and malevolent aura, hinting at the creature's unnatural and corrupting power.
The creature seemed almost untouchable, with a thick layer of meat and bone that made it impervious to harm. Sig could sense the ghoul's power, and he knew he was facing a formidable opponent. His stick felt almost useless against such a foe.
"My wooden stick won't do much damage to it. I have an idea though. If my theory is correct, we could make this mission much easier. Let me try 'that'."
Sig observed as Alex desperately tried to avoid the Ghoul's continuous attacks on the other side of the glass. It was evident that Alex was running out of energy and wouldn't be able to defend himself much longer. Without hesitation, Sig called out to him.
"Alex!"
Alex looked up in response.
"When I give you the signal, charge at the Ghoul and impale it through the skull with your knife."
"What? Are you crazy?" Alex exclaimed in disbelief, unsure of Sig's plan.
Sig skillfully dodged the ghoul's attack and quickly used his special skill, "Shadow Step", to teleport behind the glass wall and catch the other ghoul by surprise. Despite the pain in his arm and the blood dripping from his wound, he managed to keep his focus and swiftly mounted the ghoul's back, pinning it down by entangling his arms and legs around it. leaving Alex awestruck.
Alex was taken aback, "How did you do that?"
"Nevermind that," Sig replied, "Attack now!"
Alex wasted no time in seizing the opportunity that Sig had created. With Sig holding the ghoul in place, Alex lunged forward and plunged his knife deep into the creature's skull. The ghoul let out a blood-curdling screech as it collapsed to the ground, lifeless.
Sig quickly released the ghoul and stepped back, panting heavily from the exertion. "Well done, Alex," he said, nodding in approval.
Alex grinned in response, wiping the blood from his knife onto his pants. "Thanks, man. You're not too shabby yourself. But, how did you manage to get past the glass wall? I haven't seen any openings that would allow us to cross over to the other side."
Sig took a deep breath before answering, knowing it would be pointless to conceal it since Alex had already seen his abilities. "I have an Active skill known as Shadow Step that I earned as a reward for completing my initial mission. It enables me to move through shadows and instantly teleport to a nearby location. I used this skill to bypass the glass wall."
Alex raised an eyebrow in astonishment. "Incredible! I wish I had an active skill like that. I only obtained a passive skill named [Combat mastery], which is not as impressive."
"But what of your side? The ghoul seems to still be there? Are you going back to face it?"
Sig declined the idea of going back to the other side and reassured Alex, "I believe that completing all five waves in either side would activate the exit on the side that completed the mission. Although the normal process is to clear both sides to proceed, I was able to bypass that wall due to my Active skill. So, I suggest that we team up and face the next two waves together to increase our chances of survival."
The other player listened intently to Sig's explanation and nodded in agreement. "Alright, let's do this," he said, readying his knife.
As the third wave drew to a close, the room descended into a suffocating silence. Sig and his companion braced themselves, their eyes scanning the room for any sign of movement. Suddenly, a faint scratching sound could be heard, growing louder and more frenzied with each passing second. They looked up just in time to witness a blinding burst of energy emanating from the ceiling, before a monstrous spider the size of a grown man descended from above and landed with a heavy thud in front of them.
Sig's heart skipped a beat at the cheer size of the creature. The spider was a grotesque behemoth, its glossy black furry skin. Its eight legs were thicker than tree trunks, each one tipped with razor-sharp claws. The creature's mandibles dripped with a viscous green venom, and its multiple eyes gleamed with a malevolent intelligence. As it let out a bloodcurdling screech, Sig and his companion knew that they were in for their toughest fight yet.
