Sig was beyond exhausted and struggling to stay conscious due to the continuous bleeding from the wolf's bite on his arm and the physically demanding work he had to do with every subsequent waves. In an effort to reduce the amount of blood loss, he tore a clean piece of cloth from his shirt and tightly bound it around the wound.
"Are you okay to continue? Your injury seems quite severe," Alex asked with concern.
Sig replied, "There's not much else I can do besides pushing myself to keep moving forward."
"Let's push through just a little further, this is our final wave," encouraged Alex.
Sig nodded silently to reassure Alex of his determination to see this through to the end.
As the waves calmed, a strong and intense energy formed in the room's center. Its pressure was overwhelming, and they struggled to endure it. The force pushed them down onto the floor, and gradually, it shaped into a figure. The figure wasn't as large as a spider, but it still towered over the two men waiting.
The summoned monster was a towering beast, covered in shaggy fur that was matted with dirt. Its skin was a dark, mottled grey, and its muscles rippled beneath its fur, betraying its incredible strength. The creature's face was twisted and grotesque, with horns that spiraled out from its skull like jagged spears. Its eyes glowed a deep red, filled with a primal rage that was unmistakable. In one hand, the beast wielded a massive hammer that looked like it could crush a man's skull with ease. Its other hand was curled into a fist, ready to strike at any moment. The monster exuded a raw, ferocious power that made the air around it vibrate with menace.
The men felt both terrified and awed at the sight of the towering beast. They trembled with fear and were filled with a sense of primal dread. The creature's hammer and muscular frame left them feeling vulnerable and helpless. They were spellbound by its raw, savage power.
[Minotaur]
"GHRAA!!!"
The minotaur let out a deafening roar that shook the room, causing Sig to cover his ears in pain as he felt twice as much as others.
The minotaur charged towards Alex like a raging bull, forcing him to dodge with all his might. However, before he could react, the creature's hammer swung with incredible force and struck him in the abdomen, sending him hurtling through the air like a rag doll. Despite his best efforts, Alex could not regain his footing and lay writhing on the ground, barely scrapping for air. The pain in his abdomen was excruciating, and he knew that he had to readjust himself but his body wouldn't listen to his command. Without any delay, the minotaur rushed once again towards his fallen prey as to finish him off.
Sig sprang into action to save his companion, using his Shadow Step ability to teleport behind the Minotaur's head. With lightning-fast reflexes, he grabbed the creature's left horn with his left hand and lifted his broken stick in his right hand. In one swift motion, he brought the stick down, impaling the Minotaur's right eye.
"GHRAA!!"
The creature roared in pain and rage, its massive form losing its balance, stumbling forward towards the fallen Alex with its giant body. In a stroke of luck, the Minotaur missed its target by a hair's breadth, slamming its body into the wall beside Alex with a deafening crash. The impact caused a shower of debris to rain down on the wounded man, but he was spared from the monster's lethal blow. Sig, meanwhile, used the opportunity to quickly retreat, narrowly avoiding the Minotaur's crash.
"Quick, get up before he regains his footing," Sig urged Alex as he extended a helping hand.
"Thank you again for saving me, for the second time," Alex expressed gratefully.
"No need to thank me," Sig replied coolly, "but don't get your hopes up that this will take him down. We need to focus on survival for the next minute, evading his attacks until my active skill cooldown is up. Then, I can impale his other eye and hopefully bring him down for good."
Alex nodded in understanding.
The Minotaur groaned as it struggled to get back up to its feet, its massive body swaying unsteadily. Despite the injury to its eye, the beast was still a formidable opponent, its muscular arms flexing as it tried to shake off the pain. Its chest heaved as it drew in deep, ragged breaths, its remaining red eye fixed hungrily upon the two individuals. As it rose to its full height once more, the creature seemed even more menacing than before, the previous attack must have enraged him as it let out a blood-curdling roar that shook the ground beneath their feet.
"Here he comes," declared Alex.
Rather than blindly rushing towards his prey, the minotaur began to swing his hammer in a horizontal motion. With each passing moment, the momentum of the swing increased, until a powerful gust of wind erupted from the force of the hammer's movement. The wind pulled at the two men, trying to drag them towards the minotaur, which threatened to strike them with devastating force. The two men were left reeling from the ferocity of the attack, struggling to maintain their footing against the onslaught of wind and force that the minotaur had unleashed upon them.
"Shit!" Alex exclaimed in panic as he fought desperately to avoid being pulled in. Sig was in no better shape, struggling just as fiercely to resist the pull.
As Alex and Sig struggled to resist the force that was pulling them in, they noticed a small protrusion in the wall next to them most likely carved from their previous battles. With no other options left, they quickly realized that their only hope was to use the protrusion as a foothold to push themselves away from the force, narrowly avoiding being sucked in. With their hearts racing, they clung to the wall, gasping for breath as they realized that they had just escaped certain death by sheer luck.
The Minotaur gradually slowed down until it finally came to a stop, then laid its hammer on the ground before crouching down to regain its footing. The swing had put the beast in a disoriented state, and it needed a moment to regain its bearings.
Sig and Alex exchanged a silent look of understanding before springing into action. They charged towards the Minotaur, summoning every ounce of strength they could muster. But their attacks were futile, barely leaving a mark on the beast's tough, muscular hide. Undeterred, they used their wit and quick thinking to find any advantage they could in the fight. Sig, with a burst of strength, grabbed hold of the Minotaur's horns and pulled with all his might, revealing the creature's neck in full view.
"Now!" Sig screamed.
With a fierce and brutal strike, Alex cleaved through the Minotaur's neck with his weapon, causing a grotesque geyser of blood to spurt from the wound. The monster bellowed in agony, the thick, crimson blood oozed out of the wound, coating Alex's in a thick, sticky liquid. The Minotaur's massive body trembled as it struggled to maintain its balance, but the blood loss was too great, and it slowly began to slump to the ground. Its powerful muscles, once bulging with strength, now hung limply from its bones, and its eyes grew dull and lifeless as death overtook it. Alex and Sig stood frozen, staring at the grotesque spectacle before them.
