Chapter 12 - Profane Vision

[You have been transported to the lobby leading to the next floor.]

[You have acquired 1x Randomized Equipment (Magic-Rare Raking)]

[You have 5 minutes to make your decision on the room you wish to proceed on or you will be randomly transported to a room.]

"Only five minutes? That's hardly enough time for me to wait for Alex to arrive. Am I being urged to proceed on my own? This is frustrating. I seem to have no other option but to move forward alone."

"For now let see the equipment I gained from completing the mission"

[You have used 1x Randomized Equipment (Magic-Rare Raking)]

[You have acquired Profane Vision Headband (Magic)]

The Profane Vision is a slender strip of material that is meant to be worn over the eyes, not the head. It is fashioned into a black headband that is approximately 1 inch in width and lacks any discernible patterns or decorations, imparting a simple and minimalist design.

[Profane Vision Headband (Magic Rank)]

[Passive: Discern the true nature of one's soul towards you.]

[Blue: Neutral Nature, Green: Friendly Nature, Red: Hostile Nature]

[Durability 15/15]

[Description: The Profane Vision possesses the power to discern an individual's genuine character and intentions towards the user, based on the color associated with their soul. By utilizing this item, the wearer can differentiate between individuals who are either neutral, amiable, or adversarial, depending on their soul's hue.]

-------------------------

Sig expressed how useful the item is as it not only helps in indicating the location of living beings but also provides insight into their intentions towards him. However, he still requires a cane or stick to navigate rugged paths or uneven floors to avoid tripping over. Fortunately, he hasn't come across any ground that isn't smooth yet.

The available rooms have been divided into three different directions. The top left corner leads to [Floor 1-1-A], the middle door leads to [Floor 1-1-B], and the one on the right leads to [Floor 1-1-C]. Based on the Sig's previous experience, it's evident that the higher the difficulty, the greater the reward. The skills he gained from conquering difficult challenges allowed him to exceed his own expectations. He understands that in order to overcome the upcoming challenges on higher floors, he must gain as much strength as possible from the lower floors. As such he decided to move forward with the right bath leading to the highest difficulty room.

"Thank you for coming, Investigator," said the man in a rough voice.

Silence followed.

"How dare you not answer the king when he speaks to you! Do you want to lose your head?" demanded a younger man, his tone sharper.

Sig was caught off guard when he suddenly found himself standing face to face with the ruler of a country, leaving him feeling surprised and bewildered. He couldn't help but blurt out "King?" as he tried to make sense of the situation. As Sig looked around the room, he realized that he hadn't yet received his mission for this particular floor and began to wonder if this was some sort of grand introduction. While surveying the scene, Sig noticed several flame-like entities present, which led him to ponder if the Profane Vision ability was in effect. To his right and left were dozens of individuals, seemingly there to protect the ruler, while five people stood directly in front of him.

"Prince Charles, please let him be. The investigator is known for his reserved nature." the older man interjected.

"As you command, Father." the prince relented.

"Father, if I may ask, why did you seek the help of a disabled man? He doesn't seem like the most suitable candidate for our current situation." another man spoke up.

"Prince Thomas, what have I taught you? One should never judge a man's capacity based on his appearance. Aren't we in this predicament precisely because of that?" the father responded.

"I apologize, Father." Prince Thomas said, contrite.

"Ha~, my children, you still have much to learn." the father said with a sigh.

"Prince Stephan." the King called out.

"Yes, Father!" responded a man with a mature-sounding voice.

"Ask everyone except the advisor, military general, and investigator to leave the area." instructed the King.

"Understood, Father! Soldiers, vacate the area immediately!" replied the man, speaking with authority.

Gradually, the numerous souls who had been keeping watch inside the room departed, until only six people were left behind.

"I want to express my sincere gratitude for accepting my invitation on such short notice. Your impressive achievements have reached my ears, and I am seeking your aid in resolving an urgent matter." said the king.

Sig had a moment of realization that he was the investigator that the king had been referring to. It seemed probable that this was due to the fact that he was currently participating in a role-playing game as a renowned investigator. In response to the king, Sig played the role he had been assigned with utmost authenticity.

"As a humble resident of this great kingdom, I acknowledge my place and stand before you, my king, ready to hear your commands." Said Sig with a tone of respect.

"Interesting," remarked the king. "Let's cut to the chase and discuss the purpose of your presence."
