Chapter 10 - Player One

[Randomly choosing the challenger...]

[Player #1 will be transported to the arena]

Sig was intrigued by the significance of the numbers assigned to the players. His conjecture was that each player was numbered based on their arrival time in the room, with the first person being given the number one, and so on. Therefore, the player with the highest number was likely the last to arrive. Sig pondered whether this was merely a coincidence or if there was a deeper meaning behind it.

Sig pondered to himself, "What distinguished the person who entered here first? Was it their proficiency or mere chance?"

To those able to witness the appearance of the man standing inside the arena. The character has a tall and lean build with sharp features. His hair is jet black and falls in wild, unkempt locks that partially obscured his face. His eyes were a piercing dark color, glinting with a subtle hint of danger and intensity. The individual's skin is pale and almost ghostly, which makes their eyes and hair stand out even more. He was dressed in dark academia attire. The man was the only person inside the room who was not wearing dirty rugged clothing.

"Wow, that guy's clothes are so fancy! How is it that the rest of us are stuck wearing these raggedy old things, while he gets to dress like a proper civilian?" Alex questioned, eyeing the well-dressed man in question.

Sig gave a nonchalant shrug in response. "It's possible that he received them as a reward for completing a mission," he suggested.

While they were conversing, the notification signaling the commencement of the match was announced.

[Match, Start!]

As soon as the match began, the Swordsman sprang into action, pulling his katana out of its scabbard in one swift vertical motion. He aimed to split his opponent in two with this very move. However, his opponent quickly sidestepped the sword's trajectory, dodging the attack with ease and without much effort.

Undeterred, the Swordsman quickly turned his blade in a horizontal motion, attempting a follow-up combo with the goal of slicing his opponent's neck. However, the opponent closed the distance between them, coming face to face with the Swordsman. Unfortunately for the Swordsman, this close proximity made it impossible for him to connect with his blade and execute his attack. Therefore, the attack was unsuccessful.

The man manages to get close enough to the swordsman to grab his hand and twist it with force, causing the swordsman to drop his katana. Before the katana could hit the ground, the man quickly grabbed the hilt with his other hand. With a swift step back, the man then lifted the katana in a straight line and plunged it into the swordsman's heart, killing him instantly.

[Player #1, Win!]

[Player #1, will be transported to the lobby of the next room]

The audience was completely spellbound by the fight and the incredible skill of the man involved. His quick, precise movements were executed with such ease that it was evident to everyone watching that he was a master himself. In fact, his abilities were so impressive that he appeared to be able to defeat even the most skilled swordsman without wasting a single motion. Every action he took was calculated for maximum efficiency and impact, leaving no doubt in anyone's mind that he was a truly formidable opponent.

Alex expressed his amazement with a sense of disbelief as he observed Sig standing still without uttering a word, stating "Wow, he's really strong."

[Randomly choosing the challenger...]

Despite the man's victory against the champion, the match had to continue. Suddenly, the swordsman who had been impaled just moments before, stood back up as if he had never been injured at all and at the ready for his next challenger.

"Hey," Said Sig as he approached Alex.

"What's up?" responded Alex.

Hear me out real quick.", Sig leaned in close to Alex's ear and whispered something.

Alex thought for a moment and replied, "Hmm... I like the sound of that. You can count on me!" Said Alex as he pumped his chest with pride as he spoke.

[Player #8 will be transported to the arena]

As the players were announced, a light began to shine from Sig's body, although he was unaware of it as he couldn't see it himself. His companion Alex, standing next to him, quickly noticed and remarked, "Oh, I think it's your turn now. Don't worry, if you lose, I'll make sure to get revenge for you."

Sig was taken aback by Alex's comment. "What do you mean, lose? Losing means death, you shouldn't say such terrible things to your partner."

Alex quickly realized his mistake and tried to make light of the situation. "Oops, my bad! Good luck out there, break a leg!" he said with a chuckle.

"By the way, don't forget the task I asked you to do earlier?"

"Yes, don't worry. ."

Sig was feeling anxious about the current predicament he found himself in. Even though he couldn't hear any sounds of the swordsman nearby, making it difficult to locate him, Sig believed he still had a chance of defeating him due to two important factors: his newly acquired passive skill called [Window of Opportunity] and the assistance of his partner, Alex.

[Match, Start!]

"Let's do this!" exclaimed Sig, as he aimed to employ his Window of Opportunity passive skill to temporarily blind his opponent.
