I was going to get coffee from the big kitchen in our section of the office. I was so stressed that wished that I could take a nap but I was going to interrogate one of my client's spouse.
My client came to the office this morning to seek for help. She said that she was a victim of domestic abuse for the past seven years. I had to do it as a favour for one colleagues since he knew the woman and he didn't want to be influenced by his emotions. She was Buck's cousin from the maternal side.
"Good morning Madam." I greeted the woman who was standing in front of me.
"Good morning." The woman was slender with brown hair, average facial looks with a thin nose.
She looked to be in her late twenties and was wearing a black long sleeved top with slim fitted blue jeans. She complimented the look with big dark sunglasses.
"What can I do for you Madam?" I gestured for her to take a seat. She didn't immediately respond as she was fidgeting, her fingers playing with the strap of her hand bag. I immediately got worried when she didn't speak for two minutes.
"Madam are you alright?" I ashed in concern, I could guess where this was already going. This must be an abuse case either a sexual or physical assault.
"Can we talk somewhere private?" She spoke shakily. I nodded as I led her to a room we used for some low-key interrogations or for conversing to our clients in situations like this.
After settling down in our chairs which were opposite each other. I waited for her to break the silence, I had to handle this with care. Else she will be closed off and don't tell me everything.
"My name is Amy Jones, I'm a victim of domestic violence." I knew it, no wonder Buck gave this case.
"You can call me Detective Stone." She nodded and took a deep breath. I knew that she was going to delve into the story and was gathering courage.
"I met my husband ...."
After she was done with her story, I was boiling with rage inside and could barely prevent myself from physically shaking in my seat. Amy was crying uncontrollably, her face was flushed red. I didn't know how to comfort her and just patted her hand gently.
The sick things he did to her, gosh that man was a monster.
"Can you give me your address?"
"We don't live together anymore, I moved out two weeks ago. But I can." She ranted the address to me, I noticed that the place was on some fancy suburban place. That means that the man was loaded but they does not mean that he wouldn't pay for his crimes and be arrested.
"Do you have a lawyer?"
"No, I didn't have the need for one untill now.* She needed one desperately because this case was going to land in the court.
"Then I will get you one." Just needed to find the right one and I know who to ask but it will be be difficult. I just hoped she put aside our differences and help this lady.
"So we'll bring him in for questioning this evening. You and your son will be safe." She nodded in relief and I stood up to cut off the meeting. I held my hand out for her to shake but instead she surprises by pulling me into a hug. I was tensed but later relaxed into the hug as I patted her back
"Thank you Detective Stone, thank you very much." She sobbed onto my shoulder.
"Buck really said you are good at what you do." I raised my brows in surprise, so Buck praised me behind my back. I would have to tease him about that.
"Don't thank me yet. You can thank me when all this is over."

We were already present at the location that Amy told me. It was located in a fancy neighborhood in the suburban. The house was a duplex and was decorated beautifully from what I could see from the outside. I was accompanied by one of my colleague John and three police officers to prevent any disaster from happening.
I pressed the doorbell and waited patiently for the door to open. A moment the door opened to reveal an attractive man who looked forty ish. I wouldn't know that he was an abuser of if I wasn't told. It was said that it was really the beautiful ones that have rotten souls. Beauty doesn't matter if it's only on the outside.
I looked for any telltale signs of nervousness, I found none. He looked composed not perturbed by our presence.
"Good day officers, what can I help you with?" He smiled at us.
"Are you Mr Frederick Jones?" I asked him since I was in charge of the investigation.
"Yes officer, is there any problem?" He frowned.
"It's Detective to you sir. We are here to bring you in for questioning."
"For what? If I may ask?" He was cocky thinking that he wouldn't be caught. But I was glad that he asked.
"Miss Amy Jones reported you at the station." I saw a little reaction, his left eye twitched slightly at the side.
"Whatever she told you, I didn't do it." He swallowed, not too cocky are we?
"That's why you need to follow us to the station to clarify and give your side of the story." I smirked inwardly. He pushed me, although I didn't fall down and rushed to enter his house. But unfortunately for him, he didn't get far before the hefty male cop by my side tackled him to the ground. They both dropped to the floor hard with the cop on top of him.
"I promise I didn't touch her, I am a law-abiding citizen."
"The law will be the judge of that." My colleague John sneered at him.
He breathed heavily from under the cop, that guy must weigh a ton. I put in mind not to annoy him in the future. The others cops rushed to assist the male officer on top of Frederick as he handcuffed him. They manhandled him up with force and brought him outside.
"You know I hoped that you would take the hard way and you didn't disappointed me." I smirked at him as he gave me the stink eye.
"Good job Terry." He nodded at me.
"I have rights! I am a citizen of this country. I need my lawyer." He shouted as they moved him towards the police cruiser.
"So do we. Terry read him his rights."
"Yes ma'am." Terry grunted as he bent Frederick's head to allow him enter the cruiser. Some of his neighbors were outside looking at the spectacle, while some were peeking through their windows.
"That was a job well done." John complimented me as we high-fived each other.
"Yes it was, now to question the asshole."
