Chapter 8 - Being human Is Much Better.

"I just tucked him in, he's asleep now" Ellie made known to Sydney coming down the stairs, she's the one who mostly does the job of tucking Roman to sleep at night. Sydney could have done it today but with what she passed through in his school.

She won't be so happy doing the job.

"You are so much better at doing that job than when I do it" Sydney appreciated Elle helping her out with little jobs that involve Roman.

"I'm scared you might strangle him while tucking him in tonight. So I chose to do it myself, maybe when you are less mad at him, you can take up the job again" Ellie let Sydney know the real reason why she did the job of tucking Roman to sleep tonight.

"I may be mad at him but I would never strangle my own kid or even do worse than that. All I ever do is scold him whenever he does something bad. I have never even spanked him" Sydney didn't like the way Ellie just teased her, it kind of made her start thinking that she was being a bad mom towards Roman.

"You just made that sound like I think you are being a bad mom to Roman" Ellie read Sydney's mind and let her know it.

"Because it is what it sounds like. I mean you don't seem to have a problem with him whenever he does something bad, but it's always different with me when I scold him for doing something bad" Sydney tried to make Ellie realize where she did it wrong when it comes to her and Roman.

It's obvious she favors Roman a lot but she shouldn't do it when he does something wrong.

"I'm sorry, Syd. You are such a great parent and I never should have made it sound like I do question your parenting skills. I don't know what it's like to have a kid, I don't even like kids. Roman is the first kid I always get along with and would probably be the last, I'm thinking of just having pets when I get married" Ellie disclosed.

She likes Roman a lot because he's a very sweet kid to her, but that doesn't mean she's going to have hers. She might consider that when she's ready to get married though, only if she even marries. She has never dated anyone so marriage is going to be kind of big for her to handle.

"You have never dated anyone, so what do you even know about marriage? Sydney read Ellie's mind as she read hers a few seconds ago. "Marriage is that thing you guys do and promise to stay by each other's side forever, right?"

"Yeah, but it doesn't last anymore these days because divorce rates keep climbing faster than a tornado storm" Ellie settled down on the couch next to the one Sydney's sitting on after grabbing the remote to put the TV on.

"You know we are not so different from you guys, your marriage is like our mating ceremony. Just that we are much better at being committed although some of us do prefer to reject our mates" This last sentence of Sydney hit her hard as she can recall how she got dumped and rejected by Barry.

Ellie, observing how the bright look on her face changed instantly, had to change the topic, feeling like Sydney might have unintentionally recalled her past with Barry when she said those words. The look on her face usually changes from this lit, happy face to a sad, sad one whenever they talk about something that could make her recall Barry.

"So, how did it go with Roman at school?  Was the kid badly hurt? Did you happen to see the kid's parents too?" Ellie inquired, changing the topic as she had wanted to know what went on at Roman's school when Sydney went to get him. She didn't fill her in on anything when she got back.

"Ugh, I don't even want to talk about that right now" Sydney groaned the moment her mind traveled back to how things went down at Roman's school after she got a report of his bad behavior again.

"Come on, you have to say something. I need something to remember when going to sleep tonight" Ellie chuckled at Sydney's groan, and she didn't stop urging her to let her know what went down at Roman's school when she went over there.

Sydney sighed, having no other choice than to give in to Ellie. She deserves to know what happened since she cares about Roman just the way she does. Besides, it seems like Ellie isn't going to go to bed tonight till she gets the info she wants.

"It was a big deal, but not that much. When I got there, I went straight to see the kid first, his nose wasn't looking very good, and there was blood all over his face. His arm was really broken and bad looking too and was receiving treatment. His parents were there with him and so I ended up being called a bad parent by his parents for not raising my kid well"

Sydney narrated the ordeal of what she passed through in Roman's school today, while Ellie gave her a stern stare. What part of what she just said isn't much of a big deal? Every single part of it is.

"I'm sorry you had to go through that, Roman kind of deserves to be scolded real bad. He did wrong by hurting that kid, but how did he manage to hurt him up to that extent? Without the kid being able to hurt him back too? Was the fight so brutal? Didn't the kid know how to fight back?"

Ellie's curiosity got the best of her that she asked too many questions at the same time and expected it all to be answered.

"Have you forgotten he's not human, Ellie? Though he doesn't have an actual wolf yet. He'll be seven this year, I expect his wolf to bloom when he's eight. Mine did when I was nine but I think Roman has super strength already" Sydney filled Ellie in on the reason Roman beat the kid up in the fight they had.

"Wow, I have forgotten just how awesome you guys are. I'm starting to get jealous, can you turn me, Syd?" Ellie got slightly jealous and instantly wanted to become a werewolf. They are really lucky and blessed to have such amazing jaw-dropping skills.

"I want to be just like you, I don't want to grow old fast and I want to be fast like the Flash and have super strength too," Ellie joked, but was quite serious about it too that she thought telling Syd would make her give in and turn her into a werewolf. She has begged Sydney to turn her multiple times and the answer was always practically no.

"No" Ellie knew this would exactly be Sydney's answer to her again. She still refuses to turn her up to today, what's the big deal in that? It's just to bite her and then the werewolf transformation would begin, right?

"I knew you were going to say that," Ellie rolled her eyes, "I don't see any big deal in turning me so I can be like you" She shrugged, Sydney sometimes likes making a big deal out of something small and easy to do.

"Yeah, turn you into a werewolf, and then when you get into college the next semester. You can go ahead and start biting people's heads off over there. You think it's easy to control the urge, Ellie?"

As much as Sydney likes Ellie, she's not going to do this for her. It's too dangerous, besides, being human is much better than being a werewolf. If Sydney wasn't a werewolf, Barry wouldn't have turned out as her mate and ruined life for her.
