Chereads / Bound To The Vampire Prince / Chapter 3 - Acquittance

Chapter 3 - Acquittance

As I read those words aloud, I knew that they were no joke. I belonged to him forever but he was not mine. I feared that one day, he would walk right through the door with another female and I would be able to do nothing other than watch.

As the first son of the vampire king, he was entitled to get more than one wife especially if the other wives didn't bear children for him. Of course, I might not be able to bear children for him as I might refuse for him to mate with me.

I watched as he walked up to the closet and brought out a plain white dress with a flower design at the breast level. Hell, it was gorgeous but I wasn't in the mood to be amazed by it.

If it had turned out to be the marriage I had actually agreed on, I would have jumped on my husband and kissed all over his face for getting me such a nice piece of clothing.

" Do you like it, wife?" Dav asked.

" Yes, my prince," I said for a frown to immediately form on his face.

It is probably because I called him a prince or the lack of joy I had on my face.

" I have told you to call me Dav, I am your husband." He said with a slightly irritated tone.

I did nothing other than bow my head.

With that simple gesture, he held my hand and led me to the closet.

" Wear it, it's for you."

His eyes showed anticipation, he wanted to hear that heavenly word from me, he wanted me to jump on him and hug him so tight for getting me such an expensive dress, and most importantly, he wanted me to say thank you. But when none of those things happened, he sighed and left.

What did you expect from me? I can't just feel joy and excitement when I know that I have been doomed and thinking of how the vampires would welcome me, freaked me out.

Good lord, I didn't even feel like thinking of it.

Noticing the time I had taken to think, I immediately wore the outfit my husband had gotten for me and it fitted like a glove.

" Wife, are you done?" I heard him say as he knocked on the closet door.

Without a word, I stepped out of the closet to hear a faint gasp from him before forming a smirk on his half-scarred face. If looks could strip someone naked, then his lustful stare would have done the job for me.

" You look beautiful, wife." He said with a straight face.

Still, I said nothing and turned my gaze to the floor where I could avoid eye contact with him.

It only took a matter of seconds before I felt him come closer to me. I panicked because I knew that he still had that lustful stare. I could feel it but before he could raise his hand to touch me, I moved away and that made him displeased.

" Are you still scared of me, wife?" I heard him ask.

Was that even a question that was supposed to be asked? What human in their right senses wouldn't be scared of a vampire with numerous ugly-looking scars on his face? Especially when that human was forced to marry him and stood a risk of being forced to bed by him.

Still, I said nothing, I maintained my gaze on the floor.

Noticing that there would be no response from me and I might flinch away if he tried to touch me, he hurriedly brought his hand to my chin and raised my head so I would look straight into his eyes. He had used one of his advantages of being a vampire against me, speed.

" Wife, if I look like someone that would think of hurting you, don't you think I would have done that a long while ago?" He asked as he stared into my eyes like he could see through them.

Meanwhile, the more I stare at his face and try to understand why those scars still look fresh, the more I get lost in them.

It has always been said scars were a symbol of fierceness and bravery but I knew that the difference was the case with my husband, his scars looked intentional like someone had purposely inflicted them on him.

There, we stood for what seemed like one minute with no one blinking an eye.

" Maybe words won't work on you, I will have to use my actions." With those words, he let go of me and moved the hair strands from my face to the back of my ear.

Without saying a word, he held my hand and led me out of the room.

" Dav!" I called just before we stepped foot out of the house.

He turned his gaze over to me with a huge smile on his face, I had informally addressed him and he saw that as a huge leap in our marriage.

" Yes, wife."

" Will your people accept me, especially the royal family?" I bit my lips in anticipation of what he would say.

" No need to worry wife, I have talked to them and it has been settled. If anyone opposes, I will make sure that his or her head will be put on a plate and brought to you."

I was relieved and at the same time, frightened. What the heck did he just say with a warm smile? I wasn't a fool to not believe that he would do as he said because, behind that smile, there was a lone beast that wouldn't mind raging if angered.

That was one of the reasons why I was most scared of him, I didn't want to be that unlucky person that would anger him as I have heard of the things he did to whosoever stepped on his toe.

Satisfied with the weird assurance that he gave me, we walked out of his house where we saw two males that I was very sure were vampires standing beside a car.

" Wow prince, I must say your wife is beautiful." I heard one of them say as he sized me from head to toe while the other didn't bother to look at me.

They seem to be close to my husband since they could freely talk to him.

My husband said nothing but nodded in agreement. His gaze turned over to the vampire who seemed to be the most serious of the three of them.

" Is it done, Ray?" I heard my husband say for his other friend to nod his head.

" Good."

With that single word, Dav led me to the back seat of the car while his friends got in the front seats.

Midway through the drive, I noticed the way the vamp Dav had called Ray would occasionally stare at me through the rare mirror and when our gaze meet, he would immediately divert it.

It felt like he wanted to say something to me but didn't know how. Of course, my very intuitive husband noticed it and his facial expression showed that he was very displeased with it.

One thing I knew about vampire males was their possessiveness.

" Ray, why do you keep glancing at my wife?" Dav asked and I didn't fail to notice the way he stretched the word 'wife'. He probably must have thought that his friend had tried to pick interest in me.

" It's nothing my prince, I must agree with what Leo said, your wife is beautiful." He said.

Not only did I look surprised as both Dav and his other friend seemed surprised that their friend would compliment someone's beauty but Dav's shock was immediately turned into anger.

There was only one explanation for someone who had never in his life complimented a lady say such cheeky words, he was interested in me.

" Yes I know and can you keep quiet?"

A peal of loud laughter followed suit, his other friend, Leo had laughed at Dav's possessiveness but before he could say a word, Ray's voice echoed.

" We have arrived at the castle, my prince."
