There we stopped at the vampire castle which was considered the castle of no return among the humans. No one knew what was behind those gates because as the nickname implied, no human had ever returned to tell the tale.
It was believed that some of the humans were taken as maids and servants to the royal family while some were used to satisfy the vampires' taste for blood but there I was, about to cross the castle gates.
Surely, I didn't look forward to it.
Noticing my reaction, Dav held on to my hands and gestured that everything was going to be okay but it was not enough as I was dead scared of what was behind those gates.
" Give us a moment," Dav commanded his friends to get out of the car but not without Ray stealing a glance at me.
We were now left alone but my husband didn't say anything but fixed his eyes on me, thereby making the moment look awkward.
" I think I will have to tell you the benefits of being married to me. You are now their future queen, which means that this castle is the safest place you can be right now." He started with.
I bit my lips, I was grateful for the fact that he had tried to console me but it was also not working. Did I have a choice? I formed a fake smile on my face so Dav wouldn't be concerned.
As expected, he bought my smile and also formed a smile on his face. He spent another minute blankly staring at me before calling for his friends..
" So prince, you can't just wait till we reach the castle before you make out with your wife?" Leo shamelessly said as he winked at me through the rare mirror. Goodness, no one told me that the vampires that Dav called friends were very shameless. How could he say that with any care of my presence?
I looked over at Dav in anticipation that he would at least scold his friends but my expectation was immediately extinguished by the fact that he also had a smirk on his face and winked at me.
Not only was his friend shameless and lacking manners, but Dav was also just like them.
" Go!" Dav commanded Ray to move the car.
We stopped at the gate and when they saw that it was their crown prince, they immediately opened it but at the same time, a loud bell rang. They probably did that to inform the guests of our arrival.
It took us another five minutes before we reached the main castle and hell, it was the biggest and widest building that I had ever seen.
There, I saw a white massive building that seemed to have ten stories but what baffled me was the width. Neither could I see the beginning nor the end of the castle, if I didn't know better, I would have thought that the castle was a city surrounded by a wall. But it might also be the case since some homeless vampires consider the castle as home.
It was rumoured that it was done to keep the homeless vampires away from humans since they might be tempted to feast on human blood but since no human had ever returned to confirm the rumour, we didn't know if it was true or false.
Dav immediately led me out of the car only to be welcomed by numerous eyes prying on me. It was just a matter of minutes before they noticed the presence of their prince which made them immediately run to him and bow. But I realized that some of the vampires just couldn't remove their gaze away from me.
Ignoring them and still holding my hand, Dav immediately walked past them. They weren't supposed to be in the castle surroundings since the party was being held on the inside.
Meanwhile, the moment Dav and I entered the castle, the faint sardonic music that played in the background paused as everyone stopped whatever they were doing to stare at the people that had just entered.
Good lord, only my stars knew how much I hated when attention was being drawn to me.
I knew that their gaze was not at their prince but at the lady that was with him. Probably they must have guessed that I was the human that their prince had married.
I wasn't even given the opportunity to appreciate the expensive and classy look of the castle's ballroom.
" What do we have here?" I heard a feminine voice coming from behind.
" Long time mother!" I also heard Dav say.
Well, a son would always identify his mother even without looking at her. There, a woman who seemed to be at least, ten years older than me, walked up to us.
I couldn't deny it, I opened my mouth in awe. Did Dav just call this woman his mother? There's no way that was possible but when I remembered that vampires hardly aged, I couldn't help but believe.
The moment Dav's mother walked up to us, she ignored her son and focused her gaze on me. I need no one to tell me that she didn't like me as her stare was not welcoming.
That was definitely what I was avoiding, I had not even spent up to ten minutes in the castle and I already had someone that didn't like me and to make the matter so intense, it was my mother-in-law.
" Mother, this is my wife, my princess." Dav blurted out.
His mother said nothing but nodded her head.
" Where's father? He wanted to see my wife." Dav said.
His mother pointed at a corner decorated with expensive-looking chairs while still maintaining her gaze on me and without being told, I knew that those chairs and tables were preserved for the royals.
Without saying a word to his mother, Dav led me to where his mother had pointed but there was no father, only two vampire males dressed like royalty. I knew that they were Dav's younger brothers.
I could feel their lustful gaze on me as they licked their lips. Possessiveness took over Dav as he drew me closer to himself thereby making me bump into his chest before blurting out some cheeky words.
" Where is father? He wanted to see my princess."
Instead of feeling jealous, his brothers formed wide smiles on their faces, it seemed that they understood their brother very well.
" Why don't you introduce us to our new princess Eliza." My eyes immediately widened, how did they know my name? Does that mean that all the vampires knew everything about me? I had always known my father to be such a blabber mouth and would do anything to be part of the vampire community even if it meant exposing my personal information to any vampire that cared to ask.
Dav ignored his brother and led me to a seat that seemed to have been reserved for me since the word ' princess ' was boldly written on it while Dav sat on a seat that was reserved for him since ' prince ' was written on it.
" Finally, the newlyweds have arrived." A male vampire walked up to us and said but what Dav said next shocked the living hell out of me.
" Good day father, here's the new princess."
What the….?
Was he the king but why wasn't he dressed like royalty? He looked the same age as Dav and also dressed like Dav. If Dav hadn't called him father, I would have thought he was Dad's twin brother.
Strange….
Dav's father turned his gaze over to me and nodded in approval. At least that was the only good thing that had happened that night, his father seemed pleased with me, unlike his mother.
" Good day, my king," I said for both Dav and his father to let out a peal of mocking laughter which I hated to admit, it made me look stupid. Did I say anything funny?
Oblivious of why they had burst into laughter, I bent my head in embarrassment.
" You don't need to be too formal with me, you can call me Gabriel but if you don't feel comfortable with it, you can call me father." He said with a bright smile on his face.
Well, I chose what every other reasonable person would do, I wouldn't dare call the vampire king by his name so I chose the latter.
My eyes accidentally passed across Dav's brothers, they didn't seem happy that their father had cheerfully talked to me. I also noticed that Dav's father didn't seem to be on good terms with his other son as he didn't spare them a glance and neither did they do to him. But who am I to be bothered about that since I would never step my feet in the castle after the party?
" I must give it to the humans, they do know how to make a good deal. Who would believe that they would hand over such beauty to the vampires?" I heard my father ask and I must admit, I was a little flattered….a little!
Dav nodded in approval as he brought his hand to my face and caressed it but the pleasurable moment was cut short by a female vampire who seductively walked up to us.
I knew having a good moment was too good to be true.
" What are you doing here, Beatrice?" Dav's cold self was back as he stared daggers at the seductively female that wouldn't have any problem drawing or attracting males of any race.
" Why so grumpy my prince, or don't you want your wife to meet with your favorite mistresses?"
