Chereads / Bound To The Vampire Prince / Chapter 6 - Nightfangs

Chapter 6 - Nightfangs

What the heck did my mouth just blurt out? How was it possible that I was able to phantom the courage to say something so outrageous? It seemed that I had taken advantage of Dav's kindness towards me.

There were also the vampires. I wouldn't have been surprised if they had wanted to kill me right there since it was very disrespectful of me, especially as a human, to yell at their crown prince.

Surely Dav would need no one to tell him that I had said those words because of his seductive mistress. Why did I have to let my emotions get in the way?

" Wife, what's wrong?"

My face immediately folded, I knew that sitting at the grand stairs was a bad idea since Dav would easily find me and it would draw a greater audience to me but hiding in a place I knew nothing about would be a much worse idea.

I pretended to not hear what he had said as I placed my head in between my legs. Oh how embarrassing it would be if Dav saw my face that had been ruined by tears and the heavy makeup the maids had packed on my face

After a moment of not hearing from me, I heard his footsteps as he got closer to me ignoring the piercing eyes that were fixed at us.

" Wife, did I do anything wrong?"

That question was like a poison to my consciousness. Did he just ask if he did something wrong? Was he expecting me to tell him that I hated to see him with that vampire lady? Or was he expecting me to tell him that I was jealous that he wasn't with me? Or was he expecting me to tell him that I saw the lady's lips on his' and he didn't do anything to stop her?

No way…

I said nothing still but raised my face for a faint gasp to come out from his mouth, as expected!

Without a word, he got closer and sat beside me but this time, it was the vampires that had a gasp released from their mouths. I was sure that it would be a great shock to them that their next king sat on the stairs, it was also a shock to me.

He leaned closer than we already were, and that was when I realized that his scars looked fresher than they were at the ballroom.

Many questions started pumping in, how did they get renewed? Did he get into a fistfight with his brother because of me? But why would the vampires allow their crown prince to attain such a level of injury? But I had to put the questions on hold since it would be so rude of me to question him in the presence of his subjects.

" I ask my wife again, did I do anything wrong?"

Still, I said nothing. He probably didn't know that I saw him make out with his mistress.

" If I di–"

" Sorry to barge in my prince but the Nightfangs are here!" A middle aged man that seemed to have the aura of a human blurted. If only that person knew of the awkward moment he had saved me from, he probably wouldn't have apologized.

Dav's mood immediately went down the drain as he face-palmed himself. I asked myself, who exactly were this Nightfangs that they seemed to have annoyed the crown prince? Were they like another group of outlawed vampires?

" Come wife, it's time to make some introductions."

Without waiting for a reply, Dav took my hand and gently stood me up. He paused for a while to intensely stare at me. If I didn't know any better, I would have thought that he had tried to pass across a message that I couldn't understand.

In the next minute, he led me back to the ballroom and I also realized something else, when the human announced to the prince that the Nightfangs had arrived, the vampires who had patiently wasted their time to stare at Dav and I stiffened and immediately rushed to the direction of the ball room.

The moment we entered the ball room, I felt a deja Vu of what happened when I first arrived, especially with the way all eyes were now on me but the only difference was that there was no music and there was the presence of some group of people dressed in white robes. Seriously, who in this modern age still wears robes?

But there was something strange about them. They looked elderly. Vampires, whose looks had been affected by aging were thousands of years old but it was rumoured among the humans that it was only a few of the vampires that survived the ' war of races'. Those vampires were called the ancient vamps.

It was through their help that the vampire race still existed.

I literally heard Dav's teeth gnashed as he stared at the strange vamps who didn't care to spare us a glimpse.

" Here's the prince and his human princess." I heard those words in the background and that was all it took for the strange vampires to turn their gaze at us.

There, I stood unable to move an inch. At that moment, I felt like I was being held by an invisible force and it all started when my gaze met with their's. Even after knowing the effect of their gaze, I couldn't look away, I was curious, I wanted to see something but what?

I also heard Dav cursed before he used his huge palm to cover my eyes. It seemed that he knew the effect those strange vampires had on me.

" Don't look into their eyes," Dav whispered and removed his hand.

To do as instructed, I turned my gaze to random places in the ballroom but immediately stopped when something, or would I say someone, caught my attention. There, I saw the king but he was not in his usual self as he had sweat dripping from his forehead.

Wait, was he also scared of the weirdly dressed vampires? A king scared of his subjects? Unbelievable!

That explained why the vampires had panicked when that human made the announcement. As the saying goes, the subject would fear whoever their king fears.

Then my gaze also traveled to Dav's brothers and mother, they seemed to have the same reaction as the king. With that, I was curious to know if my husband was also scared of them but to my greatest surprise, he seemed not as he fixed his hard stares on them.

He didn't want them there.

" It seemed that the cursed prince still had a taste for the same human female every time." One of them finally said something to ease the tension in the air but what does his statement mean? For all I knew, I had never set my eyes on Dav until our wedding but why would they tag their prince as cursed?

Not saying anything, Dav took me to the seat we had earlier sat on but this time, he was a little bit harsh.

" I guess that the Nightfangs also do not like meddling in other people's business. You have seen her, why don't you leave?"

I could see the shock in everyone's eyes including the king, it seemed that no one had ever talked bravely to the so-called Nightfangs.

Instead of focusing their gaze on their prince that had just blurted out those words, they were so focused on me. Well, I was the main reason for their visit.

There, I saw a devious smile formed on the lips of the only female among them. It was only a fool that wouldn't know what that fake smile meant, it was a way of mocking Dav's bravery.

I'd expected that they would have more to say but when I saw them leave, I concluded that they only came to observe.

" I think we have stayed here for long, let's leave." Those were the exact words that I had prayed to hear from Dav since we arrived at the castle but before Dav could stand up, his father approached us.

Now, he had a smile on his face.

" Don't tell me that you are leaving so soon?" The king asked but instead of Dav giving his father any response, he finally stood from his seat, and as every other reasonable person would do, I followed suit.

He simply stared at his father before walking away.
