Troy came back from the lounge room to check on the girls when he saw Avery hugging Mason.
"Am I tipsy right now or is Avery really hugging Mason?" He asked nudging Evie.
"Who's Mason?" Evie asked looking up from her phone and to the direction Troy was facing. Troy used his head to point over at Avery and Mason.
As soon as Evie saw them, she said, "Fuck! She's drunk. Come help me get her. I don't want anyone taking videos or pictures."
Troy looked around and saw that almost everyone was either wasted or flirting with each other, so he said, "Nobody is taking pictures."
They went to them and Evie tried taking Avery from Mason arms but she just held on tight and wouldn't let go.
"Avery? Baby, it's Evie. Come here, let us take you home" She said as she tried to loosen Avery's grip from Mason, but she wouldn't let go.
"No, I wanna hold him alone, he's so warm and comfortable and—." She said whimpering.
"It's okay Avery, your friend's got you. But I'll be here if you need me." Mason said softly to Avery.
"Need you? Dude, who the fuck are you?! I need to get her away from here before people start filming."
Mason raised a brow questioningly at Evie, and said, "I'm Mason"
"And he's my friend, don't worry about anyone filming, it's never going to happen. I have a policy in here. No videos in here." Troy chipped in to help the situation.
Slightly relaxed, Evie said, "Good. Troy, can you get Dixie? I need to order a ride or something and get her home." Evie wanted to call their estate ride but she did not have their contact, only Avery did and she couldn't access her phone.
Troy nodded, "Sure, I'll get her but I could give y'all a lift though. I'm not drunk."
"Awesome." Evie said.
"Evie, do you know that Mason lives opposite us?" Avery said still clinging onto Mason. He was still holding her in a hug.
"Yes baby, I know that" Evie replied, even though she was not sure Avery knew what she was saying.
"Isn't that crazy?" Avery continued.
"Of course baby. What would've been better is if we had the estate's chauffeur come pick us up instead of making Troy leave his party because of us" Evie complained to nobody in particular.
"Then why don't we call the estate's chauffeur to come pick us up?" Avery asked her.
"What chauffeur? We have an estate chauffeur?" Mason asked, surprised.
"Yeah, he gave us a ride earlier"
"How don't you know this?" Avery asked, patting Mason face. "Aw, I love your face, it's so..." She trailed off.
Mason tried to ignore what Avery was doing to his face because now, their faces were inches away from each others as she tried to "examine" it carefully. He noted that she was cute when drunk. Focusing more on Evie, he said, "Well, can you call him?"
"Sadly, I can't. Avery has his contact and her phone is password protected, not with her Face ID. And look at her, she will not remember her password."
Mason looked down at Avery and saw her smiling up at him. Then she said, "You smell so good Mason, like so good I could hug you forever."
Smiling at her, he asked, "Yeah? You smell divine too. But you already know that."
"Uh huh. Oh! Oh! Oh! Can I tell you a secret?"
"Sure"
She made her hands like she was whispering to him, but she yelled, "I love a guy who makes effort to smell really good. And I think you're hot. Like the kind of hot that I wanna hold you if it was my last day on earth."
Luckily for her, the music was really loud so he thought only him heard her, but Evie heard it too. Mason smiled. He thought it was great that she also found him attractive too because he had the biggest crush on her.
Evie closed her eyes and shook her head in embarrassment and asked him, "what exactly did you give her to fucking drink?"
"I don't know what was in the first drink we drank, but the rest were cocktails for her, it was strong too though, it just tasted sweeter." Mason responded.
"So, why aren't you drunk."
Mason shrugged and said, "I'm tipsy but it's not that bad, I didn't want to drink too much because she was drinking and—"
"What's going on here?" Dylan asked immediately he came to where they all were.
"And who are you supposed to be?" Evie asked rudely.
Ignoring her rudeness, Dylan replied, "Dylan. I'm with him" pointing at Mason. After noticing that Avery didn't look okay, he asked Evie, "Why's she holding on to him like that? What's going on?"
"She's my friend, and he gave her something to drink, now she's wasted but he's not."
"Gave her? Mason doesn't give girls drinks." Mason said frowning.
"Yet, here we are!" Evie snapped.
He ignored her and turned to Mason and said, "Mason, are you okay?"
"I'm good, a little tipsy but Avery's drunk and she's scared of letting go." Mason replied with a shrug.
"Then let's get her home. I'll call Uber" Dylan continued.
"We're waiting for our friend Dixie." Evie replied.
"Who's Dixie?—" Dylan asked.
A voice came up behind them—startling Evie, and said, "I'm Dixie." Then she asked asked the boys, Who are you all?"
They ignored her but Evie was about to say something when Troy said, "Let's go guys, I got my keys."
"Go? Where are you taking them, Troy ?" Dylan asked.
"What's wrong with Avery?" Dixie asked Evie.
"Home." Troy said to Dylan.
"Wasted." Evie said to Dixie and then looked at Mason and said, "let her go." He just looked down at Avery and said, "Avery, it's time to go." She whimpered and said "But I wanna go with you."
"I think the fuck not! Avery, baby, we don't even know them. I'll take you home." Evie interjected.
"I think since we're all going to the same place, he can still hold her." Dylan said.
"Same place?" Dixie and Troy chorused.
"Yeah, we live opposite each other" Dylan replied.
"You do?" Troy asked. He did not know Mason and Dylan had moved from their former apartment.
"Yeah. We moved from our old place." Dylan replied.
"Did you know they lived opposite us?" Dixie whispered to Evie.
"Just finding out stuff today too" Evie replied.
"Alright then. Girls, you're in good hands, these guys are good guys" Troy told Evie and Dixie.
"Damn, this party was going really well. This is why I don't like too alcohol, just like know your limit and shit" Dixie said.
Evie frowned and said, "Shut the fuck up, Dixie, and get your ass here to help me carry her."
"But she doesn't want to be carried by anyone except him." Dixie replied referring to Mason.
"Would you let me know when y'all get home?" Troy asked Evie.
"Sure. Um, where's your phone?" She asked him.
"Here." He brought out his own phone and passed it to her. She dialed her number and said, "I'll let you know when we get home."
"Please."
Dylan's phone rang and it was the Uber driver. He was outside the house and was waiting for them, so he announced it to everyone. Avery still held on to Mason so he just swept her off her feet and carried her that way out, and since the party was still going on and some of the kids at the party we're either making, high or wasted, nobody paid special attention to drunk Avery. When they got outside, they realized that it was two rides that was outside and they were not alone, Jessica and Sheryl were outside.
"What's going on?" Jessica asked nobody in particular and Dixie replied, "We are going back home." Jessica sensed that something was amiss so she observed and noticed quickly that Mason carried Avery and she didn't look sober.
Dylan confirmed their ride and told them to come in, Dixie just stood, while Evie tried to help her friend who still in Mason's arms into the car. When they were both comfortably seated in the car, Evie sat beside them while Dylan sat in front passenger seat.
"Seem like don't have any sitting space." Dixie announced.
"Well, I can't leave Avery with these guys and she wouldn't let Mason go. So, he's obviously riding with us."
"And I can't join the other ride, but both cars are going the same way." Dylan added.
"How do you know that?" Mason asked Dylan.
"Jessica lives in our building bro, I heard about it from one of the girls I was around."
"In that case, I'll join them then" Dixie said as she went to the join Jessica and Sheryl.
As the journey went on, Avery felt cozy and slept off on Mason. The car was dimly litted but his mind was clouded by how perfect she looked. Strands of her blonde hair were all over her face and he gently brushed it away. He knew nothing about her but he wanted to protect her like his life depended on it. He was no longer feeling slightly tipsy.
The drive was not too long but it was oddly quiet. When they arrived at their building, Mason said he'd carry Avery to her apartment and Evie agreed. As he carried her, Evie took her bag and her phone. Dylan held on to Mason's phone and they all walked into their building. It was when they got into the elevator, that Dixie and the other girls arrived.
When they got to the girl's apartment, He carried her in and immediately, Evie took him to Avery's room. He placed her carefully on her bed and she looked perfectly sound asleep. Dylan came into the apartment but he was in the living room when Dixie walked in. She just walked into her room without saying a word but she noticed how hot and cute Dylan looked with a better lighting.
When Evie came out with Mason, she was thanking him for helping her out with Avery. She then apologised to Dylan for being rude earlier. He accepted and said there was no bad blood between them . She asked them if they would like to stay for a glass or water, hot beverage or a sandwich. They declined but she told them they were welcome to stop by anytime.
"Well" Dylan said, standing up from where he sat on the sofa. "We need to get some rest too. See y'all tomorrow. Avery might have a terrible hangover tomorrow though." He continued.
Dixie walked out of her room, she had changed into a onesie and then she walked into the kitchen, expecting either Dylan or Mason to say something to her but they didn't. Instead Dylan walked to the door, it was obvious that he was tired.
"So, just keep a bottle of water around her so that if she wakes up in the middle of the night, it'll be easy for her to drink that" Mason told Evie. He then looked over at Dixie and back at Evie and said, "Goodnight ladies. See y'all around."
Then he and Dylan walked out of the apartment.
Evie called Troy and said, "We're home Troy, thank you for being a sweet host."
