Nathaniel was sprawled out on the couch, his eyes fixed on the television screen. It was a lazy Saturday afternoon, and he had nothing to do but relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. His mother was out running errands, and he pretty much had the whole house to himself.
Just as he was settling into a comfortable position, his phone rang. Nathaniel groaned and reluctantly picked it up. Although, he couldn't recognise the number. "Hello?" He answered, his voice laced with irritation.
"Nathaniel, it's your father." Came the familiar voice on the other end of the line.
Nathaniel's heart raced. He hadn't spoken to his father in months, and he had been hoping to have a conversation with him. "Hey, Dad." He replied, trying to suppress his excitement.
"How are you doing?" His father asked, his tone softening.
"I'm doing okay." Nathaniel said, feeling a little more at ease. "I'm settling into the town pretty well, and I've made some friends at school."
