Devlin held the gadget Marcus gave him and gulped.
He kept repeating instructions in his head, "Okay, okay.. just spin this gadget first, attach it to the yo-yo.. no, no, it was attached to the yo-yo, spin it, and toss it on the ground.."
He stared ahead, and seeing the monster reaching soon, he mumbled to himself, "The way I'm facing it will have the compressed energy towards the monster.." He rubbed his head, "Agh I don't know what science stuff he said, but he said I won't die.."
He took out the yo-yo that now looked much bigger and with steel rope. Devlin wore the glove he had and took a deep breath, calming himself down.
He let the yo-yo spin drop to his knees and started rotating his wrist and spinning it. His left foot stepped forward, knees bent.
"And that's how it will happen," Marcus explained, leaving Devlin feeling speechless.
"How would you know what I say?..." Devlin asked as he watched Marcus take off his helmet and tied the hair.
"Everyone has their own way of speaking, so it's predictable how a kid would speak since they are so young." Marcus placed a headphone and warned, "This is about to be loud."
Devlin quickly covered his ears and ran away, watching Marcus take some kind of tool from the bag.
[ Do you think he plans to kill you with the monster? ] Elvie asked while sitting down, Devlin was about to answer when it continued, [ It would be a funny way to die.. repeating history ]
Devlin rolled his eyes and sat down, too, checking his system.
'Do I have to fill everything again..?' He groaned, "I will just leave it blank till someone points a gun at my head.."
[ Do it..] Elvie made a finger gun and pointed it at Devlin.
"You can't do anything to me," Devlin whispered while narrowing his eyes.
[ Pew ] It pressed down, and a wave of headache shot past his head.
Devlin held his head and groaned, "You bastard!"
It shrugged, [ You said to do it ]
Devlin attempts to find the off switch again on his system, causing Elvie to roll its eyes.
[ There isn't one.. ]
Devlin began to think how it might work, causing Elvie to lose track of his train thoughts.
Finally, Devlin just shut down the system.
Elvie sat there, seeing his connection with Devlin was gone, 'That fucker really did it..'
Soon the connection was back on, but Elvie just stared at Devlin's proud face.
It then resorted to the one thing it know to communicate frustration. It flipped him with a middle finger, causing Devlin to chuckle.
"How's that?" Devlin still kept chuckling.
"Kid!" Marcus called out, "Go check how long more we have."
'You didn't think to do that sooner?!' Devlin quickly used his powers to scale the wall.
When he reached the top, he gulped a handful of saliva.
"They are coming!" He yelled as he scaled down.
"Tch." Marcus quickly tried to finish it, but sighed and said, "You stay here, I will be the one to deliver the blow."
"You will die!" He exclaimed, seeing Marcus standing up.
"Hopefully my uniform will protect me.." Even Marcus didn't sound confident, wearing the helmet to hide his expression.
Devlin clenched his fist and suggested, "How about I Distract them as you finish it?"
Marcus placed a hand on his shoulder and said, "Kid, you still got a whole life in front ya. Besides, it's only a chance I might die."
"I don't want to run again!" He yelled out, throwing a temper like a child, "It's not a chance I'm willing to take. Give me the yo-yo and a hoverboard. I can do it." He glared into the visor.
Marcus closed his eyes, hearing Devlin's thoughts of planning how to escape.
He took out a plastic plate from his bag, and pushed it on Devlin's hand, "No." He stated clearly, "Just run away."
/ "Why couldn't you have at least tried stopping him?!" /
A glitchy image of someone suddenly appeared in Devlin's mind, but that voice seemed to feel him with immense guilt.
"Screw you!" Devlin snatched the yo-yo from him and ran.
"Hey!" Marcus was about to give chase when Elvie stood in front of him with a finger gun.
'Pew.' It pressed down, and gave Marcus an intense headache, 'Pew Pew Pew.'
Devlin held the yo-yo in his hands tightly and scaled to the top building. The building started shaking heavily, causing sweat to drip down his forehead and to climb faster.
When he reached the top, the claws of the monster had also reached. He wiped the sweat off his forehead and threw the plate down, causing it to open up.
'Here goes nothing..' He thought and dropped the yo-yo to his knees, taking a deep breath he quickly started swinging it.
He walked towards the hoverboard and stood on it, bindings came out of the footpad and secured the feet.
The outline of the board glowed red, connecting to Devlin's system.
'Gather enough heat to create an instant reaction.' He glanced to his side to see the yo-yo generating more energy, leaving a black trial.
When the yo-yo started spinning, the monster's whole feet had gotten a good grip. Bringing its eyes to see Devlin. The monster looked like a reptile creature with dark red scales covering its face, but its face was shaped like a mammal with the arm covered with fur.
Before its other arm could climb up, Devlin swung down the yo-yo with his eyes squinted.
