Devlin, with his arm held up, dropped down through the metal tube.
On instinct, his arm moved nearer to the front, and his hand grabbed the air, but a dark red rope seemed to appear in his hand instead of just the air. Using the rope, he pulled himself into the wall, passing through what looked like an illusion.
Through the wall greeted what felt like a whole new world. Floating buildings ruled the sky with vehicles connecting them.
He accidentally tripped and landed on his feet, causing Dex to give him a hand.
"Let's go." Dex pulled him up.
Devlin nodded, and the two walked through the busy street.
Devlin stared up around them, seeing the dark grey metal above that represents the sky in this place. Despite everything, here is artificial, from the weather to the climate. The safety provided isn't made up, sheltering refugees from the previous war.
Devlin admired everything while Dex saw his brother's reaction.
He gave him a small nudge on the shoulder, catching Devlin's attention almost immediately, "What's up with you? Hit your head too hard?" Dex asked, tilting his head a little to the side.
Devlin shook his head while slowly covering his face, "I'm not sure..it just.. suddenly felt like a long time had passed.."
Dex glanced down at the floor, seeing Devlin's shoe, "I miss our home.. our friends.. our parents.. our old life.."
Devlin glanced towards his brother and patted him on the shoulder, "Let's not break any of our promises to them."
Dex tilted his head up a little, turning to meet Devlin's gaze. He gave a small smile but didn't reply. Looking back down, causing Devlin frowns a little, unsure of what to do.
After a few more turns, they walked past what looked like a barrier gate. Dex had his head kept down, while Devlin almost stopped his steps.
/// "Do you accept the invitation?"///
His face twitched in pain, feeling the same headache again.
"Bro?" Dex's voice suddenly stopped the pain, causing him to look up and see Dex's worried face, "You good?"
Devlin forced a smile and nodded, "Of course!"
Dex didn't look convinced but didn't ask further. The two continued walking in silence, both having their thoughts.
Walking for a while, they were about to turn when everything slowed down in Dex's view.
A figure walked beside him with ease, looking at him, yet the figure just stood there watching. At the edge of his vision, he could see a man wearing a dark yellow coat, stained with red near the edges, and it seemed like the figure was talking.
The figure seemed to finally realise that Dex couldn't hear him and simply sighed. It's disappearing like the wind.
Everything returned to normal, and Dex quickly turned around, trying to catch a glimpse of that person. Alas, he couldn't, leaving him to wonder if it was all just his imagination.
Devlin felt like a cold breeze passed by, looking towards Dex, who was glancing around.
The two didn't say anything and resumed their journey back home.
After a few more turns, the road started going downhill. There's started to be lesser people, and no more stores along the streets.
"Hey.." Dex whispered, "Who's that?" His chin pointed at a small store that seemed isolated, "I don't remember a store here."
Devlin almost halted his steps, staring at the store with a frown.
///" Are you the one who caused that strange rift?"///
He snapped his head away and shrugged, "Let's go.."
Dex just nodded, and the two continued walking.
At the store, Zita was observing them with a frown.
'Am I feeling a sense of deja vu? I remembered meeting them before..' She pinched her chin, "Somethings wrong with today…I felt like I've already lived through the moments.."
She took a notebook from underneath the table and opened it up, "Hm.."
The two finally reached their house, a small run-down apartment. The two sleep on a wooden bunk bed that came with this apartment.
This apartment wasn't considered theirs either. It was something their father used to live in before meeting their mother and moving to Cerevauz.
Both of them had been left with the code to this apartment, and seeing the bunk bed made them question whether their father had predicted their situation or if there was another reason for the extra bed.
Dex let his hoverboard float towards the corner and walked towards a cabinet sitting at the opposite side of the room.
The small display screen on the cabinet lit up when it detected Dex's presence.
Dex squatted down and pressed the medical icon, causing a quiet, clicking sound.
Ding
He pulled out the door and looked inside, frowning at their lack of supplies. Taking the roll of bandages and some simple medicine cream, he closed the door and turned towards the bed.
Devlin was lying on the top of the bed, staring at the ceiling with a blank mind.
"Dev?" Dex called out, putting the supplies on his bed and pulling himself up, seeing Devlin just chilling, "Your head doesn't hurt anymore?"
Devlin slowly shook his head, "I'm good.."
Dex didn't ask any further and just let himself drop down to the ground. Looking at the supplies, he threw the cream up and said, "At least apply that to avoid infections."
Devlin gave an acknowledgement that he heard Dex's words.
Dex put the bandages back in the cabinet and looked at his hoverboard.
"I will go out for a ride." He said while taking the hoverboard, "I will come back with food."
After the door closed, Devlin asked out loud.
"Elvie.. are you there?" Devlin felt like his memories were in pieces, but even so, the shards he could remember seemed important enough, "Who are you? Who am I? What is happening?"
Elvis sat on the cabinet, watching the whole thing since Devlin returned.
'I'm losing more of my power..' The figure now instead of just a ghost-like human figure with one red eye showed more human facials. Having the other eye visible and strains of hair flowing past its shoulder. "Devlin.." Its voice sounded more feminine, "Why didn't you run..?"
Devlin didn't hear any reply and just sighed. Closing his eyes, he drifted off to sleep.
Devlin had his arm held up as he slid down the metal tube.
On instinct, his arm moved nearer to the front, and his hand grabbed the air, but a dark red rope seemed to appear in his hand instead of just the air. Using the rope, he pulled himself into the wall, passing through what looked like an illusion.
