Chapter 25 - Evil Never Triumphs

Alexander sat with the little boy, discussing about the spell book that was currently in his father's possession. He sat shocked and surprised at the same time, he thought the book was a fairytale, but all his life he had spent his days sitting in a house that contained the most powerful spell book to ever exist, and now he was just learning that his father was with this same Grimoire.

The boy had also told him about the curse that his brother housed, and that explained what had happened earlier. The outrage and confrontation with his father was because the had lost control and the curse had taken over him with that opportunity.

He had also learnt that as long as the book remained, so did the curse. And as it pages were being unlocked, the curse binding that page was also being released into his brother. Which meant that eventually, Daniel would go berserk when his body fails to contain the power of the curse. Things were really worse than they appeared to be.

He never really trusted his father, but never in his life did he ever think Jeffery would stoop to the level of using his child as a storehouse for dangerous waste without even considering what this toxic waste would do to him. He wasn't surprised anyways, the man had tried killing him, and if not for his mother he would probably be dead by now.

Wilson could read the worry and anxiety that cooked up in the man in front of him even while he did his best to hide it. Humans were just unpredictable. Even he never thought that one could go to this extent just for power. It was completely absurd. There was no motive at all for acquiring such tremendous power, Jeffery probably just wanted to show superiority, and for that he was willing to cut ties with his family, and even go as far as trying to kill his son and was in the process of Killing another one.

It wasn't in his nature to meddle with human affairs but he knew if he didn't do something, then these people would definitely be in serious danger. Everything he had heard about this Jeffery was definitely bad and keeping quiet about it was even worse.

They wouldn't attack him now, they didn't know how strong he has grown. He wasn't really afraid of the man at all, In his true form, he wouldn't break a sweat in defeating the man even if he eventually learnt everything in the Maledictio Caelum et Infernium. But if he did everything by himself, they'll never learn and never grow. What if another trouble surfaced after he was gone, what would they do?

This was all Wilson had checked and had decided it was much more safer if they faced their troubles themselves. He would offer as much help as he could, but not in his true form. Humans weren't supposed to have proof of celestials and divinity, and that was another drawback to him going against this Jeffery all by himself.

In his current form, he was physically weak as his age demanded and calling out too much of his power would damage the body he had chosen. He had made a mistake taking the form of a small child but it wasn't really his fault. He wasn't all knowing or all seeing and had never imagined he would encounter someone as ruthless as Jeffery in this his mission.

All they needed to do was just keep calm, train and wait for him to return. He knew about the book even before Jeffery's time. He had seen people's obsession grow about the book and they soon ran mad with it's knowledge and power and would destroy anything that posed as a threat to the book.

Jeffery would definitely be back soon, for the Lance. It was the only thing that was capable of destroying the Maledictio Caelum et Infernium at the moment. Of course he could if he wanted to but that would mean revealing his true form. He possessed the light of salvation and it could easily burn through the pages of the book.

Wilson glanced at the troubled man once more and gave him a reassuring smile that easily convinced him that they would win. After all, evil never triumphed over good.
