Chapter 29 - Threats

Jeffery had immediately summoned himself and Clinton into this dimension just so he could check out it's authencity and realness, and also to keep himself from loosing.

Clinton was almost as skilled as he was, and was way more experienced than him. And with unlimited mana, the chances of him winning were very low.

He had learnt that the infinite nana of the Infernal Judgement didn't really come from the flames of hell. Even though they did have an affinity for flames, and also control over the fire of the underworld. Their mana supply actually came from the agonies of hell, and this was what fueled their mana.

The agonies in hell were endless, making their mana supply limitless and infinite. However, the only place that countered this infinite mana supply was the Valley of the undead.

Only souls that had transcended the mortal realm were judged and bound to salvation or redemption. But in this realm, the souls were trapped in their body even after death, which meant that there was no hell nor heaven for the dwellers of this valley. And that fact shut off any mana supply that came from hell's agonies.

Normally, as the summoner of this dimension, he had control over the trapped souls that dwelled in the valley. But because he was low on mana, calling upon them would mean he wouldn't be leaving the valley in any time soon. The reason why he fought with his emergency mana reserve was because he was saving the remaining mana he had to summon himself and Clinton out of the place. And just like bringing it into existence, exiting from it also took a load of mana.

"How? Impossible!" Clinton yelled in both anger and shock. He had completely drained himself From defending Jeffrey's attack and trying to attack as well. He had finally realized the place they were in and he knew that the only way that this man had gotten hold of this knowledge was through the Maledictio Caelum et Infernium. If things continued like this, this man would know all the secrets of the sorcery world and become unstoppable.

Clinton knew he had lost and had stopped fighting. The only energy left in him was one that would be able to teleport him out of Jeffery's clutches as soon as he was out of this place.

"This is what real power tastes like!" Jeffery bragged while savouring his victory and drowning in his mischievous laughter.

"Now Allen, you are only alive because I need my message to get across to other Elders. If they as much as harm a hair on my children's head, then I will be coming for every last one of you" Jeffrey reminded while slowly canceling out the dimension he had summoned.

Clinton crawled away from the menacing Jeffery immediately he realized that they were back in the real world. His energy was slowly replenishing, but he didn't want to further this battle any longer. Jeffery was a much bigger threat than they had expected, with the trick he had just pulled, he could wipe out the entire Elders if they were to have attacked him.

Jeffery felt his heart thump harder than usual against his chest, but he endured the pain that came with it. Showing any signs of weakness now that they were back in the natural world could mean death for him. He flared his aura to make sure he portrayed his dominance and glared at the man even more menacingly this time around. He wanted to make sure Clinton got his message loud and clear. And with everything that had happened, he was sure his message had been properly moulded in the back of the man's head.

He turned away and began to walk away from the terrified Allen who soon vanished immediately he turned. His heart thumped for the second time, and he fell to his knees, coughing blood as he reached the floor. He had overexerted himself with the dimension warping, and was feeling the backlash. He was lucky that Allen had vanished before his second attack if not things would have been really bad for him.

He glanced around looking for any minor creatures that lurked around in the alleyway and found an unfortunate rat. Without wasting any time, he had pulled the rat towards himself with magic, and had slain the creature without mercy.

The energy he got from the animal was little, but it was more than enough for him to find Daniel and keep him out of danger. But first he had to rejuvenate as quickly as possible, and the best option was the forest of death. He couldn't risk rushing to save the boy when he was aware that his enemies would be in wait.

He immediately summoned himself into the forest exhausting all the energy he had extracted from the rat at the same moment. He appeared at the forest and fell to his knees immediately, with more blood coming out of his mouth. The hot ash on the floor burnt his skin but he remained on the floor.

He could feel his energy slowly building up and it wouldn't be long before he was back to full strength. Daniel was his ticket to more power, if anything happened to him then he might as well kiss using the Grimoire goodbye. Any threat to Daniel was a threat to him, and unfortunately he didn't take threats very lightly.
