Chapter 31 - Answered Prayers

Things had gone terribly wrong, for some weird reason her attack had rebounded, and now she was the one rooted to the ground by her own vines. She was now open and defenseless against incoming hell dogs, and energy blasts that the trio had sent towards their opponent- who had vanished and left her in the way of the raging attacks.

She tried to nullify her own vines, but for some reason they weren't going away. She took a quick glance behind her only to find the supposed victim behind her grinning wickedly while binding her with dark chains that slowly took over the work of the Vines.

Carlos grinned happily as he watched the powerless girl struggle without progress to break out of his hell chains. He didn't know why, but he had some kind of deep hatred for her right from the very first time he set eyes on her. He could tell she conceived evil, and he hated pretenders more than anything. She was evil, yet she coated her treacherous attitude under the cloak of her pure nature aura and her deceitful character. People like her sickened him.

Carlos suddenly felt his power flow stop for a bit, and that momentary stop in the flow made his chains disappear. He could feel the sudden rise in power and the pure energy that almost matched his. This power wasn't an earthly power, only a heavenly power could match those of hell. There was no way somebody amongst these kids could weild such power, unless it was the Stigma boy.

Anna felt her restraints suddenly snap off and she leapt aside in the same instant, barely managing to escape the attacks that now flew past her and crashed into one of the pillars that held the the building up. She looked up to see Angus glowing, she didn't fully catch a glimpse of what he held before it disappeared, but she could tell it wasn't a toy.

She quickly dove away from where she had recently leapt to, just before a chunk of the ceiling came crashing down. She tried teleportation but it failed, the building was coming down fast and there was no route for escape. The only person who could get them out of this place was the man who had casted the anti teleportation barrier.

Angus felt his mana level drop to half immediately he used the lance's powers to nullify the man's chains. He had tried using his chains of heaven at first, but conjuring up the spell would take much time than canceling out the entire thing. He had been learning on how to call out only a fraction of the lance's powers during their training and he had made small progress. It still drained him heavily, but it was much easier to control that calling out the entire thing.

He hadn't expected that he would lose this much strength by just erasing a hell chain. Wilson was always around during their training and since his intense healing capabilities spread to them unconsciously, he hadn't been taking note of how much mana it took to conjure up a fraction of the lance's powers.

Angus immediately casted a barrier over him and his friends, leaving Anna to cater for herself. She was lucky that he had a heart, he had decided to save her at the last minute because his conscience wouldn't let him be at peace. And because of it, he was fighting with only half of his strength. He had already wasted enough of mana on her and he wasn't ready to waste more. He was focused on defending himself and the others from the collapsing building and the man's attacks while the two focused on the attacks.

Everyone of them already knew the man's plans, he planned on bringing down this place on them and escaping with Daniel at the last minute and so far, things had been going his way. The man had some wicked abilities that made their attacks look like play, not to mention that he could reflect ones attacks against them. They weren't doing very good at all, and it wouldn't be long before the entire school gathered around the collapsing building. Their attacker didn't even care to keep the sorcery world a secret, he was hell bent on adopting Daniel and didn't care of the consequences.

Richard knew it was too late to try and summon a creature that was over eight Feet tall at the moment. He could tell the entire school was definitely watching the building collapsing, and having such a significant figure standing out was risking the secret of the sorcery world and they were consequences to such actions. They were holding up thanks to Angus's defense and Anna's help, but they wouldn't be able to hold up for too long.

The collapsing building wasn't really a problem, the problem was explaining how they would still be alive and unscathed after having a building collapse on them. There wouldn't be any logical explanation they would give that would make sense to the public and that was why they needed to get out of here as soon as possible.

Daniel already knew he was running out of mama, but he didn't show it. He hadn't prepared for any of this to happen, and he hadn't made any sacrifices before school. He couldn't also overstress himself because he was afraid he would berserk and hurt his friends if he went unconscious or lost control. He was almost pushed to summoning Rose for help, but he restrained from it. She would probably be able to get them out of here, but he didn't want to involve himself with tbings that concerned his father any longer, and Rose was Jeffery's property.

He closed his eyes briefly and prayed for a miracle, he prayed for Alexander or Wilson, he prayed for anybody who had the capability to get them out of here.

He felt everything go silent and he slowly opened his eyes. They weren't at the collapsing building any longer, in fact they weren't at the school at all. He glanced around,

ignoring the sixth figure that stood in front of him.

He recognized the place where they were standing on and it had captured his attention more than the additional being. For them to be here, that meant that a blood sorcerer must have summoned them here. His prayers had actually worked and Alexander had saved them. He turned his attention back to his comrades only to be surprised and angered by the figure he saw in front of him.

He felt like losing control again, but for the sake of his friends he had controlled his rage and emotions. Their savior was not the person he had expected, in fact he was the last person he had expected to show up. But his father kept surprising him everytime. The man that stood in front of him was no other than his father, and his mortal enemy, Jeffery Bruce.

Jeffery could feel the burning emotions coming from his son and he smiled inwardly about it. He had initially contemplated on bringing only his son here, but had decided to save his friends as well. He knew how much the boy cherished them and he had decided to extend his favor to them as well. He didn't feel comfortable bringing sorcerers that weren't from his faction into this place, but this would be an exception. Any outsider he brought here never left alive, but he would be willing to spare these ones only for Daniel's sake.

He took his eyes off Daniel and they lingered towards his second target Angus. A wicked grin slowly formed on his face as he watched the boy who had the capability of destroying everything he was working for. He could read the boy's energy level and it wasn't even enough to conjure up a fraction of the Lance, but it wasn't really his problem. If he wanted, he could share the boy some of his mana and bring up the Lance if he willed. The little boy wasn't here to protect him this time after all.

Jeffery finally turned to their opponent who stood analyzing the environment he had just been pulled into.

Carlos glared around the forest with curiosity and surprise in his eyes. He had spent one whole week putting up that barrier and waiting for Daniel to finally come to school only for it to be bypassed so easily. The speed which they had arrived here was faster than he could blink. He could even say faster than sound and wouldn't be wrong. Everything had happened so fast that he didn't notice they had switched sorrounding until a few seconds had passed. This was no ordinary power, but he couldn't have expected less from a renowned sorcerer like Jeffery Bruce

After his assessment and ceaseless gazing around, he had finally recognized the place they had been summoned into. The ever burning trees, the endless stream of power and the sudden increase in the almost depleted Daniel's mana Level. All this pointed to only one explanation, this was the forest of death.
