Chereads / The Grimoire: Battle Of Sorcerers / Chapter 24 - Still Watching

Chapter 24 - Still Watching

Carlos walked through the hallways of Greenland City high school, taking into account everything that went on in the school. He had been tasked with abducting Jeffery's son, and from his sources this was where the boy attended school.

He had been frequenting the school for about a week and three days now, but there was no sign of the boy, and now students were talking to him casually like he was a transfer student. Some of them had even gone as far as bullying him simply because he looked older than the population that attended the institution.

This was the price he was willing to pay for a world without Jeffery Bruce. Carlos hated the fact that someone from the lowest faction was being feared even by some of the elders of the Infernal Judgement. They were the supreme sorcerer clan, and they were the ones who were meant to be feared, and not the other way round.

He wasn't going to be a failure like James, who had lost to a mere blood sorcerer. And even if he was to loose, he would never to loose to someone from the Bruce family.

He made a turn towards the school cafeteria. It was lunch time and the majority of the population spent their time in the cafeteria, stacking up their body with the unhealthy meals that were served to them by the school.

Carlos sat alone on a table with no desire to eat any of the junks they had to offer. His eyes scanned frantically over the place hoping to see, or at least smell anything that had Bruce in it and luckily he did.

Daniel, Angus and Richard walked into the hall, their trays in their hand as they proceeded towards the counter.

It had been over two weeks since Daniel attended school, and he had missed one of his exams. Everyone stared as he walked in, the girls and some of the boys twirled and giggled hoping he would notice them, while others just watched, with few cursing him inwardly for taking the attention they had worked so hard to get

They settled on a table just directly beside Carlos. They had been hearing about a parent that had been attending classes, and they decided to sit next to him just to confirm if the rumors were true.

The three of them could easily sense the hellish aura this man gave out, and the man wasn't even planning on suppressing it. Angus and Daniel turned to Richard who shook his head in negativity telling them that he did not know who the man was. And truly Richard had no idea who the man was, but it was already obvious he was from the Infernal Judgement faction.

Anna Jones continued her stalking, she was definitely the first to notice that Daniel was back in school, and had taken her time to stalk him everywhere he went with the boys still oblivious of her actions. She cursed every girl and male that smiled at him, he was hers and hers only. She didn't like sharing.

She had also noticed that the new student was a sorcerer, and an Infernal Judgement at that, but she didn't really take interest in him. They were many sorcerers within the corners of Greenland Highschool, and he wasn't the first Infernal Judgement she had met, neither would he be the last.

Her reasonings about the transfer student had suddenly changed when she caught him staring at Daniel. It was already too much that all the girls were into him, and his two friends were always around him, however she would not let this overgrown hairball make any movement towards her man. She was determined, and that resolve had made her do what she thought she would never be able to do. She walked up to Daniel.

The three boys stared upwards in awe at the figure that had just approached them. It was super weird for Anna Jones of all people to approach them, all she had ever wanted was to kill them because of some certain vendetta they weren't aware of.

"Hey" Anna said shyly, her cheeks already turning red just by standing before him. She wasn't an extrovert at all, and this made communication with people she wasn't close to extremely hard for her.

She had decided that since Daniel wasn't her target anymore, she might as well try and make friends with him. Their friendship would only last for a little time, before they would finally become mortal enemies, after she might have killed his brother.

It was way better than sitting by herself all alone and suffering the torture of watching him and not being able to talk or associate with him. It was like a living hell for her

"Hey" The three of them chorused slowly before gesturing for her to sit if she wanted to.

All eyes had suddenly turned towards them, everyone knew Anna as the quiet nerd, and even though she looked gullible, no one ever picked on her. Maybe it was a spell she had casted, it didn't concern them as long as it didn't affect them.

She settled opposite Danieland placed her tray in front of her before bending her head shyly to avoid eye contact.

Daniel kept staring at the figure in front of him, had she been hexed or was she trying to pull any stunts here? Everything that was happening seemed so weird that it scared him, and he knew everyone around felt that way too.

Anna finally mustered the courage to look up to her crush, and for the first time, she had actually maintained eye contact with him and it felt like her world was about to implode.

"Welcome back to school" She said not moving her eyes away from his. She wanted this moment to last as long as possible. She looked by her side only to notice the old man still staring. Something was definitely wrong with him, she moved her seat a little to the side, blocking the man's view completely out of jealousy.

Carlos tilted his head to the side but constantly, this girl kept blocking his view. He had to restrain herself from conjuring up a tornado and blowing her away into next year. He could already sense the pure energy that came from her and already knew she was a nature sorcerer.

Angus and Richard kept exchanging glances at each other, while casually restraining themselves from bursting into laughter as Daniel and Anna got serious with their discussion. They were now literally talking like they'd known each other for ages and they seemed to enjoy the conversation too.

Richard had stopped his stupidity with Angus to look at the man beside them and had caught him staring. He had locked eyes with the stranger, and now they were both locked in a staring contest.

He didn't want to be the one to look away and he wasn't planning to. He knew the man was an Infernal Judgement but he couldn't recognize him which could only mean two things, it was either he wasn't from around here, or he was amongst the higher ups. He ruled out the second option and kept with the the first one. Elders couldn't possibly waste their time in doing nothing but staring at children.

Anna Jones cursed time, the bell for recess had finally gone off and the boys were already on their feet, ready to return to class. She had managed to get Daniel's phone number and he had hers now. She thanked God for social media, before finally walking away .

"What was that?" Angus started stealing the words out of Richard's mouth

"I don't know" Daniel replied amidst a chuckle. He knew where this was going to but he didn't want to say anything. He had seen the two of them exchanging glances throughout his conversation with Anna, but he decided to ignore them and it was way better if he did.

The three of them left the cafeteria together with Richard constantly looking over his shoulder. The man was still watching them, or rather was still watching Daniel.
