The music drifted Kelsey into different thoughts where she wasn't surround by sweaty drunks or even her best friend. Thoughts where she was alone in blackness unable to breathe and not able to find the light, yet she didn't try to escape it.
No. This wasn't something she liked or wanted. But she couldn't open her eyes and it was like she wasn't even dancing anymore on the dance floor but somewhere cold and distant.
Kelsey didn't enjoy anything from this world which is why she tried to escape to different lands or times within different books where true love existed. But right now, she was lost in her mind somewhere dark and lonely which made her heart ache and there didn't seem to be any escape.
The music began to die down to her ears and time seemed to freeze since she was now in her own world ignoring everyone around her… She couldn't breathe very easily as feelings of pain and anger started to spread within her making her feel stuck in some bizarre feeling that was unknown… But she then began to imagine the magical place of Riveria with all its positive ways of life for all beings.
Almost like she was there, Kelsey could see the green and warmth of the land where peace spread throughout it. Flowers were blooming around almost like a beautiful woodland was beginning to grow. A smile graced her pretty lips as she continued to dance around imaginary flowers that just brought so much light.
It was the one place she read about that actually excited her enough where she internally wished it could be real. And somehow, this thought seemed real within her mind like she could almost smell the sweet fresh air of the earth…
Yet her thoughts continued to the dark forest spoken about in the story that was feared by all since no happiness or life could be found there. A place she thought she would avoid if she ever actually entered the lands. It was said the dark forest was extremely black and very similar to the feelings she had just experienced that seemed too overwhelming for her mind to handle.
Although dark and suffocating, she felt something inside the blackness deep within nearly calling out for her.
Although dark, Kelsey saw herself as a maiden dressed in a green dress walking through the trees with her eyes searching for something unknown like her body was naturally guiding herself to some kind of destination. Even with the air disappearing and the coldness spreading throughout her body, she couldn't stop looking as though desperately trying to find something she lost.
Her hair was long and let wild with her curls all around her body. She was a beautiful mess with her fair skin being cut by some side branches causing little drops of blood to run down her skin. But Kelsey didn't feel any pain since her while focus was searching for something unknown.
Even though it was her own imagination, it was as though she wasn't able to control the story. Almost like she was remembering something, or seeing the future.
In fact, she needed to know why she was there in the Dark Lords forest where many women were sacrificed and died! Something in her was so curious and longed for an answer while her imagination ran wild.
But what was the question?
Her heartbeat was racing and her breathing was increasing since she couldn't find an escape through the bushes. The air became foggy and her footsteps no longer could be seen as she continued her journey in the forbidden woods.
Was she being chased? Or was she exploring?
Finally Kelsey opened her eyes almost wishing to see the dark forest of the Dark Lord only to see a familiar pair of brown eyes dancing along side her with a smirk across his handsome features.
Kelsey nearly stopped dancing noticing the man who had just hours ago spilled her coffee among her white sweater. Just the memory made her a bit upset not liking being near the attractive man.
"Hello again." The mysterious brunette said noticing Kelsey's surprise. "I'm quite happy to be running into you again… or I guess dancing." He chuckled almost like it was a coincidence that they were meeting once again.
But something deep within Kelsey sent off warning bells. She was wearing high heels, but the idea of running in them wasn't too bad if it meant she could get away from him.
Kelsey gasped taking a step back on the dance floor barely missing other peoples bodies. His sudden appearance was startling making her blink several times. How could see get so distracted and not pay more attention to her surroundings? She looked around and couldn't find Erin which only made her grit her teeth.
Somehow the blondes feet twisted in her escape from the same man from the coffee shop, and she began to fall toward the floor on her back. Kelsey awkwardly tried to stop herself from hitting the floor, but she knew she was powerless to gravity.
But the man gently reached forward catching the girl with his hands and a smile that seemed knowing about their interaction. Almost like he planned for her little mishap.
"Careful there." He said in a genuine tone, yet Kelsey felt some sort of uncomfortableness once again in his presence. He seemed too perfect for her liking. Almost unnatural.
Perfect teeth. Perfect hair. And a perfect face.
He quickly raised her standing so close to her that she could smell his scent of fine cologne radiating. Although she felt uncomfortable, she couldn't help but take a sniff almost addicted to the smell wondering what the name of the perfume could be. But even though the scent was enchanting, once she stared back at his face, something in her felt off.
Her eyes searched the dance floor where she finally spotted Erin who winked at her like she was supporting her friend meeting a casual love interest. But unbeknownst to Erin, Kelsey didn't want this to be the man she would be left alone him.
Kelsey sent Erin pleading eyes for help, but the redhead ignored her focusing back on a different dance partner leaving Kelsey to fend for herself. Although Erin wanted Kelsey to have more fun, she was terrible at reading signals.
"I don't think I properly introduced myself."
The man cleared his throat gaining her attention once again noticing how Kelsey was looking everywhere but him.
And for a split second, Kelsey saw annoyance in his eyes like she was doing something wrong but it quickly disappeared almost as quickly as she saw it.
She furrowed her brows questioning why he was so interested in gaining her attention. She didn't feel like anything special and truly didn't want to be dancing at this club with him. They interaction at the coffee shop was nothing special and she didn't even keep the conversation going with him.
She was after all a 'book worm' that was extremely awkward at the coffee shop earlier that day. And he seemed like the type of guy who wanted the perfect woman. A woman who could do it all and go anywhere in the world enjoying the exciting parts.
Someone like Erin.
Not Kelsey.
"My name is Stephen." He said in a charming voice that seemed like music.
Kelsey didn't immediately reply as she realized she allowed her imagination to run wild making herself vulnerable to her surroundings which including some of the hands drunks on the dance floor.
But to her luck in some unfortunate way, she actually ended up in the arms of someone who seemed a bit too charming.
