Kelsey blinked a few times trying to figure out the best approach to lose this guy once and for all. Being around him was making her too anxious since he kept meeting her at the worst times
"Um.. hi again." She said giving him a half smile creating some distance between them by pushing herself gently away. "It's rather interesting how we ended up together again today."
She tried to laugh as though the coincidence was amusing, but the awkward noise escaping her lips only proved she was not happy with her predicament. She sounded like a wounded animal to be correct and even the man seemed to wince at her feeble display.
"Some would call it fate." He quickly said taking a step toward her not wanting Kelsey to mishear anything he said with the music playing as loud as it was.
He stood tall as he lifted her up facing him making her look up into his beautiful features once again as she softly smiled toward him trying to be kind.
"Or stalking.." she mumbled not impressed by his choice of words. Although she loved reading romantic novels, this interaction was too cheesy. And their whole interactions seemed too forced to her liking.
But Stephen seemed unbothered by her comment as he continued to smile at her with his perfect white teeth which were aligned by the gods themselves. He even laughed dropping his head as his hand reached up rubbing his eyes. The man didn't say anything for a moment as though he was lost in a deep thought making the girl curious if she could run.
He then looked back up slightly at Kelsey with a questioning gaze as he studied her intensely.
"Tell me." He said looking into her forest green eyes. "Is this a usual place for you to visit? I never thought someone like you would end up here."
Kelsey scrunched her nose at the question. Even though his smile seemed charming, his tone and choice of words were anything but.
"Someone like me?" She repeated with some distaste. But Stephen chuckled again at her behavior still smiling.
"No. My roommate just happened to drag me along." She almost snorted as she finally answered his question since she realized he wouldn't be dropping it anytime soon. She could see that no one else was catching his attention for some odd reason and she was frustrated that he couldn't just let her be. Couldn't he tell she wasn't interested?
"Ahhh." Stephen responded like he just remember their first encounter. "Is she the person you keep looking for?"
Kelsey looked at him with wonder until he leaned in closer to her.
"I notice you keep looking around for someone. I was hoping it wasn't a boyfriend…" he said cautiously waiting to see her reaction. But Kelsey noticed he didn't seemed bothered if that was her response making her curious what his intentions were.
"Ummm. Definitely no boyfriend." Kelsey snorted folding her arms. It would have been silly to be dancing with so many single men if they was any 'boyfriend' in her life.
Kelsey shook her head at him with a hint of a smile when she notice him genuinely smile at her response. He seemed to find it funny how she responded which she had to agree with. She was a bit awkward when she talked about men.
Maybe by some miracle, he was actually attracted to her and she was just overthinking everything.
"Are you here alone too?" She finally asked deciding she should just chat with him. He was a pretty decent looking man. Actually, he was an extremely hot looking man.
Stephen smiled noticing how she wasn't running away this time giving him an opportunity to win her over. Instead she decided to stay making him relax more in her presence.
And although the usual banter would annoy him, Kelsey had sparked an interest since she seemed a bit more feisty and more approachable then many.
"It's sort of loud over here!" He somewhat yelled referring to the music wanting to have more alone time with her. He had heard her question, but he figured this wasn't the best place to talk. "Do you mind if we go take a seat by the bar area?"
At first Kelsey looked away only to hear him say,
"Please?"
Kelsey stood hesitantly before giving him a slight nod feeling slightly bad for trying to desperately escape him. Although she wouldn't drink anything he gave her, being out in public with him didn't seem so unsafe.
And that uncomfortable feeling seemed to be drifting away making her believe things weren't as bad as she thought. He was after all an attractive individual many woman tried to steal glances at within the club. Perhaps it was her just being paranoid and awkward once again.
Walking behind him as he lead the way, Kelsey noticed how much shorter Stephen was from his backside, but she could have sworn he was taller not too long ago.
Finally, the two made it to the counter where drinks were being served sitting in two seats toward the end where the music wasn't too loud.
"How tall are you?" Kelsey quickly asked still pondering his height. "I feel like the lights in here are making you seem shorter…"
Kelsey sent him a cute inquisitive face making Stephen smile as he awkwardly answered, "They say a man appears shorter when you don't respect them. Perhaps you are starting to feel not so uncomfortable in my presence."
After the words registered in Kelsey's head, her questioning face immediately burned red as she looked at him with worried features. Although she didn't want to chat with him, she never truly wanted to offend anyone. Even annoying men.
"Oh! I didn't mean-"
"Don't worry about it." Stephen said with a shrug as a small laugh escaped his perfectly formed lips. "It's just a joke.. Something I was hoping would make you laugh. I would really like to hear you laugh."
Kelsey's lips pressed together as she didn't mean to upset him.
"Sorry Kelsey, I'm only trying to lighten the atmosphere. You are rather special compared to others here."
Kelsey smiled sadly at him before contemplating his words. She began to feel guilty over her behavior of trying to avoid him. His attitude was polite and his words sincere which was the kind of man she should be looking for according to Erin. Not only had he been nice and kind to her since they met, he also was extremely good looking-
"Wait!" Kelsey said as though she just remembered something. When had they exchanged names?
She immediately looked Stephen in the face with a strange look that made that same uncomfortable barrier return. But this time she decided it was because she couldn't trust this man.
"How do you know my name?"
Her question seemed to surprise Stephen as he opened his mouth before shutting it quickly. He seemed to be thinking of some kind of explanation as Kelsey rose from the seat in attempt to leave quickly. She knew this whole encounter was too weird and it was best to leave now. There was something ill with his intentions and she didn't want to find out what they were.
"Kelsey wait!" Stephen begged reaching for her as she turned away from him. "We need to talk!"
Kelsey looked at him with horror as he touch her arm only to slap it away.
Not only had this creep been following her, he somehow knew her name. What else would he know?
His touch only made her shiver in disgust at how evil his intentions could have been tonight. His gorgeous face might fool someone else, but Kelsey planned to live a long life.
"Stay away from me!" She warned giving him a harsh glare before walking away.
