Chapter 8 - Imbeciles

Kelsey was wondering if she was still somehow connected to her apartment since she began walking through bushes and tree branches. It was like she was in a Narnia book… But logically thinking, Kelsey was curious if someone had actually drugged her at the club.

But she didn't drink anything there…

The weather now felt colder with a wind blowing slowly making her shiver which made no sense whatsoever. She had never felt a chill so lurking in her room before and she didn't live by any trees in the area. Yet now she was wondering if the builders didn't finish the wall in their apartment.

As she continued forward in what looked to be a forest instead of her closet, she simply looked backward noticing how there was no closest to return home making her stomach drop and dread fill her soul.

Her eyes widened as her door was completely gone meaning she was stuck here and that meant she was doomed. Kelsey couldn't have been walking more than two minutes, so why didn't couldn't she see her closet or bedroom?

She stopped mid track in the gloomy woods with a frown curious if she had passed out from the terrifying intruder making her dream about this place.

But she lifted her hand quickly slapping herself to see if she could still feel pain realizing the horrifying truth. One thing was for sure. She was lucid and was not dreaming.

This place was real. She had somehow ended up in the woods of North Carolina. And even though she had no logically explanation, she was walking along trees that were so tall, she couldn't even see the tops.

Had she been so frightened that she somehow escaped her bedroom without realizing it?

"Ow!" She exclaimed rubbing her cheek with her right hand after her hard slap to herself. It was probably a stupid test, but she knew it would work. It was the only test she could think of anyway…

"What is this place?" She whispered to herself allowing her eyes to wander around noticing a different kind of tree then the ones she was accustomed to when she went for drives in the outskirts of town.

Perhaps she wasn't in North Carolina?

Although she could tell that the sun had yet to arise for the day, the dark night seemed blacker than most nights and almost more suffocating making her rub her shoulders feeling something evil lurking.

The trees, although giant, seemed dead and depressing to her green emerald eyes making her approach one gently touching it.

This whole area felt dead and cold making her scrunch her eyes.

Her hand didn't move away from the bark for a long time as she examined it almost feeling some kind of … pain? And her heart felt heavy almost like she too was in some kind of depression.

Although this wouldn't make sense to many, Kelsey had a close relationship with nature and seeing such greenery made her heart ache. North Carolina was covered in trees and grass, but this place was far too depressing to be the place to called home. In fact, she didn't know a place in America that would be this dead.

After a few minutes of looking around, the pretty blonde began walking more along the small pathway that was barely visible due to the small amount of light available. She didn't notice, but her hand left a mark in the bark where the tree was that she touched light seem to slowly be taking it in.

She wrapped herself in her arms not liking the cold air and the feeling like someone was watching her almost like she was disturbing some kind of civilization. Maybe it was paranoia, but she was never a huge fan of the dark and her eyes didn't seem to be adjusting meaning this blackness was really bad.

As a young child, when her mother grew bored, she would often dropped Kelsey off in the middle of nowhere making her find her way back to the 'safety' of their home. Her mother was interesting to say the least, but that's what made Kelsey a survivor.

Kelsey could eventually find a path and find safety, yet this forest seemed to be dreadfully darker with every step she took making her confused in what direction she was heading. But she couldn't allow despair to enter her mind.

Suddenly, a growl erupted from behind her making her freeze since it was not something she was use to hearing. The sound was unrecognizable and almost surreal making everything inside her scream.

Her body felt numb as her eyes widened with fear as she heard it growl once again. This time, goosebumps spread across her beautiful skin and she knew her face was a deadly white pale color.

Kelsey slowly turned around noticing a large black animal figure snarling in her direction which made her blink a few times since it didn't look real. It had black hair sticking out in awkward places almost like it was balding. It's head, although similar to a wolf, had other characteristics making it look like something someone drew for a horror film. It was a mix of a bear and wolf, yet it looked more terrifying.

It did not appear to be an animal she could recognize at the moment, but she was too distracted by its yellow sharp teeth to care about the species.

Suddenly her eyes lifted to meet its own realizing she was taking to much time examining the deadly creature.

Dark blood red. It's eyes were almost dripping with gunk that seemed to only add to the terrifying color.

She gulped as she took a small step backward which seemed to be easily noticed by the creature. And he did not like it.

The creatures red eyes scanned the human taking note of all its attributes while saliva dripped down its mouth like a rapid dog. He then approached her slowly seeing how she was now completely frozen making her an easy dinner for the evening.

Sniffing the air, her sweet scent was alluring making the monster drool wanting to take a bite of her flesh quickly to satisfy his hunger which seemed to be never ending. It may have been days since his last full meal making Kelsey more of a delight and something he would allow to disappear.

As his stomach growled showing Kelsey he was hungry, her body responded dashing away quickly from the creature heading deeper into the darkness.

She ran faster than she ever expected since she was never any track star in high school. But maybe the adrenaline was coming from the terror that continued behind her making unnatural noises angry at her attempt to escape.

Her breath was being quickened as she looked around the forest thinking of anyway she could defend herself only continuing to frustrate herself. This place was only filled with trees which was of no help!

But the blade she held in her hand finally surfaced in her mind making her realize it was the one chance of survival she had. Her gripped along her so called weapon tighter at the same moment as she came up with some kind of plan.

Kelsey stopped running turning around abruptly noticing the creature coming toward her with full force and angry eyes. She looked defenseless in its eyes making him ready to strike!

She then lifted the knife taking a long breathe as a small prayer excaped her lips. She wasn't one who grew up playing with utensils, but she could only hope that the sharp part of the item would hit the target. As her hand lifted behind her head, she then flung the silverware knife quickly aiming for his head!

It was like slow motion as the creature took a few more steps forward in a groggy way. Kelsey blinked noticing the blade sticking in between his eyes making her believe she must have hit his brain.

And although she was relieved to see the monster fall to the ground with his breathing starting to decrease, her heart hurt at the sight of the animal. The black creature whimpered and she could tell it was in pain as it finally took its last breathe.

Feeling no more fear from the thing she was looking at, she approached it slowly almost tempted to touch it… almost like she could help it. Her delicate hand reached out to touch it hair, but a sudden strong force pushed her to the side making her hit the tree hard!

Her held felt dizzy as her eyesight was trying to refocus. After a few blinks, she realized the back of her body was being held against the tree bark while a large hand wrapped around her neck.

Kelsey's eyesight adjusted back slowly as she noticed brown eyes that seemed almost black glaring at her with a deathly promise hidden inside.

"Im getting rather bored with all the imbeciles who can't follow my rules…" the man hummed with a deadly voice making Kelsey shiver.
