Sébastien paced while he waited for his sons. His thoughts wondered back to the past. He lost his mate in the last millenia to a dragon war. She was killed by a jilted lover. His heart, Melanie, was killed because of him. If he had handled his stalker better, she would still be alive. He came out of his musings when he heard steps coming his way. "Ah. My dear boys. I am happy to see you." He smiled and reached out to pull them into a hug.
The boys walked over and gave him a hug while looking at him strangely. Are you okay, father?"
"Yes, yes. I am just glad this is happening. I thought about everything that happened yesterday. I am sorry I haven't trusted you with the rule before now. I never meant to push you away. Your uncle, Geon, and my team helped me see that I should have done this a long time ago. Please, forgive me. "
"It's okay. I mean, we were a bit bratty and you did suffer a big loss with mom's death. It's happening now, so let's move on. We will always love you and only want to make you proud. " Slate said.
"Okay, so let's get started. " Sébastien and his sons sat down around their mother's oak dining table and went to work. By the end of the meeting, they had divided the dragons and shared their plans. "I am glad we are thinking the same way. Don't forget that we have to figure out why the dragons are falling from the sky. There will be push back from the humans but I think there are easy ways to handle that. I will not dictate how you do it. That will tell me if you are really ready. "
"Let's meet every twenty years and share. notes about how things are going. We would miss you otherwise. " Teal suggested.
"I think I would like that." Sébastien replied.
"I agree. " Slate agreed. Hugs were shared and Sébastien smiled as his sons left to create their world. He went to Mount Saint Helens to start the daunting task of making North America a better place to live. This was the start of the first twenty years.
