Chapter 3 - Sébastien's Hold

Chapter 3

Sébastien couldn't believe he actually relented to his boys and finally let them have their way. "How much harm can they do? Earth is a very resilient planet. Whatever harm they do I can correct just like I did before."

"I don't think they will do a bad job," Geon stated. "Just as dad had to trust you when you came of age, you have to trust them as well. Don't worry. It will be alright." Sébastien's younger brother Geon never had the responsibility of ruling, so he played psychologist, confidant, and number one bodyguard to Sébastien. Sébastien's magic extended his life and the life of all of his closest comrades. Having eight 10 millennia-old dragons living and ruling the world in the shadows but not controlling every little thing really would shock the world if they had known.

"Are we going to work on the dragon falling problem or should we just leave that to the boys?" Sébastien asked himself aloud. Geon was about to speak. "No. I think we should take care of it ourselves. That way we can be sure the problem is completely solved. We are still in control of the North American Continent and the Islands connected to it. My barrier will keep anything they are doing from affecting that area. We will change the way the industry is done and clean up all the pollution, poverty, health issues, and crime in our area. We will advance technology, and education, and expand the knowledge of our citizens so that they have knowledge of magic."

"Magic?" Geon exclaimed.

"Yes. Magic. The magic will allow our territory to re-stabilize the world if it is needed when the time comes." Sébastien said. "When it comes down to it, we will need to be able to stay on top and gain back our rule because we have our magic."

"I understand. So, you don't want to lose the earth to the boys. You won't, you know." Sébastien turned to look at him. "Your sons love you and only want to honor you. They want to show you that they can make you proud by making this a world you can be proud of. They don't want to take it from you."

Of course, they loved him and he loved them. He knew they were just wanting to prove they could make him proud of them. He was just afraid of letting go of his rule and not having anything to do. "I know that I just want to make sure I am ready to step aside and still have something to do while they continue to rule. I want to teach magic to their territories when the walls come down. They don't know how to do magic so that will be how I get to continue to contribute. I don't want to become obsolete." Sébastien admitted.

"You could never become obsolete, but I understand what you are saying," Geon replied.

"Anyway. Call in the rest of my dragon team. We are only going to focus on my part of the world and make it the best place to live. I hope my sons and their friends can keep up."

Later that evening, 8 powerful dragons were in the sitting room of Sébastien's mountain home. "You are finally letting the boys rule?" Flavius asked.

"If they mess up all the hard work I put into Australia, I am going to beat them to a pulp." Lorrante' growled. It's so perfect and laid back."

"Yes, and the humans were prisoners that were sent there. They don't even respect the original people of the continent. South America is pure beauty and I hate having someone else there." Hermez stated.

"You just don't want anyone stopping all the drug business you have going on there. Africa is the place that they better not mess with." Jonatan said.

"Right, abusing people because of their race and defrauding people is the way this world should be. No, Europe has always been the best. I mean We ruled so much of the world for so long. No place is better." Shane proudly commented.

"It's your European people that scattered all over the world and caused all of our problems. Asia is where it is at! The technology craze makes it a cool place the be." Jaumg said.

"I guess it would be nice if your humans weren't warring or terrorizing everywhere else." I'm glad I didn't have anything to do in Antarctica. It's just a wonderful piece of ice." Anthen stated.

"Ice that is melting away," Geon remarked.

"You are just saying that because North America is so loud and wild, you can't stand the silence of Antarctica. Where is Sébastien? He called us here so where is he?" Anthen replied.

At that moment, Sébastien entered the room and stood in the shadows. He listened to his men speak and felt shame. He allowed the Earth to be abused. It was his responsibility to care for the Earth but his hands-off approach seemed to fail. Maybe it was time for him to let his boys run the show. Maybe they will do it better. He was going to make North America a place that care for the Earth. He was going to change how his team took care of the Earth. He would teach them what he wants and then manage them to make sure they do it his way. If they refused, he would withdraw his magic from them. He was going to rule and control instead of only delegate.
