Y/n's pov:
You heard your alarm clock ring and turned it off.
"What it's already morning?" You thought with your eyes closed.
You lay on your back and wanted to move, but something heavy was on your arm. It was Elenor. You realized it after opening your eyes. Her head was resting on your shoulder as she was sleeping peacefully. You gently pulled your arm away from under her and lay her head on the pillow. After you changed your clothes you turned back to the Vampire. She was still fast asleep. You pulled up the duvet to cover her body. Of course, you knew she couldn't feel the cold but you did it anyway. A strain of her hair was on her face, so you put it behind her ear.
"Rest well, beautiful." You mumbled while your chest filled with a warm feeling.
You headed for work. Arrived at the tall building you marched straight to your father's office. Last night you decided to tell him about the attack. Without knocking, you opened the door. He was sitting behind his desk and looked up in surprise.
"A knock would not harm. If you wouldn't be my lovely daughter you would be fired." He said in a playful tone, but his smile faded when he saw the expression on your face.
He knew it was something serious and laid his pen down.
"What's wrong?" He asked in a serious tone.
You told him everything about the attack from last night. A little bit ashamed that you couldn't protect your wife from harm you looked down at the floor while playing with your fingers.
"What? Is Elenor alright?" He asked, with honest concern.
"Yes, she is fine." You answered.
"Well, I think we should tell the elders and the Alpha." He said.
The concern on his face was visible.
"I think that would be best. Maybe we can have a meeting with the elders of every pack and hopefully, we find a solution." He added.
"If the Alpha attends, I want to be there too." You said. "I Want him to tell this, please."
You hadn't seen the Alpha for a while and wanted to greet him. He was, of course, your grandfather but unfortunately, your father was not his firstborn and successor so you were not able to see him much. That was the privilege of your uncle and his snobbish little brat, that he called his son. You hated them because they always looked down on you and your father. Your father had his own successful business and your uncle just used your grandfather's money to do everything he liked. In other words, he was a jerk who couldn't get his life together but that was just your own opinion.
"I will send you a message if you are allowed to come as well." He said while nodding.
"Okay. I see you later." You said and left the office.
You sent a quick message to your wife to let her know what happened and that you would maybe be home late. Back at work, the hours rushed by, and soon it was lunch break. You headed for the canteen. Alex was already sitting at one of the tables. You picked up a steak with fried potatoes and paid. Alex waved at you and you made your way to her table.
"OMG, you don't believe what happened last night." You said while placing yourself at the table.
"You finally confessed your love to Elenor and you kissed," Alex said with a playful tone in her voice.
You rolled your eyes but deep down in your heart, you wished her words were true. The feeling you had this morning before you got to work was overwhelming. Was it love?
"NO. Stop it. Something scary happened, okay?" You said while eating.
"Love can be scary but I'm here to help," Alex said in a mocking tone.
"Can you please stop so I can tell you what happened?" You replied a little annoyed.
"Okay, spill the tea sister." She told you.
You told her everything about last night, about the attack and Elenor sleeping in your room, but you left out the part where you and Elenor cuddled.
"JESUS, First of all, I ship it and second is Elenor okay?" Alex asked.
Her expression became worried. She was good at showing empathy, not like you. You always struggled to show your emotions due to your introverted self and anxiety.
"Yes, she is fine." You told her. "I also told my father and he wanted to organize a meeting with the elders of every clan and maybe the Alpha." You added.
"The Alpha huh? Well, our pack leader will attend I assume. She is always in when something weird is up you know?" Alex explained.
Yours and Alex's families were not in the same pack, but Alex's and Robin's were. There were five packs in your region and every pack had a leader but the big boss of everyone was the Alpha your grandfather. When problems like this appeared the clan leaders held a meeting to discuss what they wanted to do. Your pack had no leader just the Alpha. That's why you had a higher status as Sua for example but that was something you didn't mind. Other Werewolves like your uncle used this to their advantage.
"I know Mrs. Park. She is also weird. Don't you think?" You said just to tease her a little.
"Hey, I'm sorry Miss my grandfather is the Alpha, but I love my pack leader she is funny." She quickly replied.
Both of you laughed.
"Do you think the murders Robin talked about had something to do with this?" You asked Alex with a concerned look on your face.
"Possible, but there were also Vampires killed," Alex replied.
"Vampires of wealthy families like Elenor's. I don't think this is a coincidence." You told Alex.
You talked a little more about this until it was time for you to go back to work. Arrived in your office you checked your messages. One was from your father the other one was from your wife. You opened your father's first.
Dad: You are allowed to come. 6 pm at your grandfather's mansion. Don't be late.
You didn't reply and opened Elenor's Message. A little bit excited and nervous as you read the text. A strange but good feeling started to grow in your stomach as a small smile covered your face.
Elenor: Thank you for letting me sleep in your room. I hope the elders can handle this situation.
You send her a text back, where you told her what happened and about the meeting, you will attend. The smile was still on your face as you got back to work. The time was passing by slowly. You couldn't wait to leave work and go to this meeting.
Earlier:
Elenor's pov:
She woke up when she heard her phone buzz. With a soft groan, she turned around and opened her eyes. The room she was in was unfamiliar. Suddenly she remembered what happened last night and shivered a little. Elenor looked at the clock, it was around ten. Usually, she just needed four or five hours of sleep but last night she was really tired. She unlocked the phone and smiled when she saw that the message was from Y/n.
Wife: Good morning. I told my father about what happened last night. He will convene a meeting with the elders and maybe the Alpha. I maybe also go, but I let you know.
She sent a reply back and after a while slowly stood up from Y/n's bed. She looked around the room. It was a little messy, to be honest, but also comfortable. The smell was amazing. It was a mix of Y/n's perfume and lavender. Elenor's eyes scanned the room. A few books were on a shelf and a sword leaned in a corner. The desk where Y/n sometimes worked was moved to the third floor to their new office. Y/n now used the place for a big TV and some devices to play video games. Next to it was a vitrine with a lot of knives in various shapes and sizes. It seemed Y/n collected these knives. Elenor wanted to stay longer, but she also had work to do. It was the first time she was allowed in Y/n's room and it made her feel special.
The Vampire girl was thinking about calling her father to tell him what happened, but her father would only worry and that is something Elenor wanted to avoid. She walked to her room and changed clothes. It was time for work so she got up to the third floor opened her laptop and started to write bills for her mother's clients. Around 1 pm she received another text message from Y/n.
Wife: I will attend the meeting today with the elders. You don't have to wait for me. Let us talk later.
Elenor smiled as she sends a thumbs-up emoji back. There was no way she could stop thinking about the attack and how Y/n had protected her. It made her heart skip a beat. The thing that happen last night still scared her but thinking about her wife and how they cuddled made her feel better. Elenor blushed hard as she thought back at Y/n holding her the whole night.
"I already miss her. Hopefully, the meeting will not take forever. I want to talk with her." She thought while working.
Y/n's pov:
You were exhausted when you left work. The car ride to your grandfather's mansion was short. You parked your car in the gateway and made your way to the entrance. As you stepped into the house you already heard voices. Your father was waiting in front of the door to the meeting room. You both greeted each other with a nod.
"Hey, you know it's a privilege that you are allowed to attend this meeting?" Your father told you with a serious look on his face.
"Yes, Father." You answered.
He looked at you and nodded.
"Okay, don't screw this up." He said.
"I will do my best." You replied.
He opened the door and both of you stepped in. All leaders of the other packs were already seated around the large table and at the head of the table was the Alpha waiting for the last people to arrive which happened to be you. Your grandfather looked like he was in his mid-thirties but you knew he was a lot older. Maybe around 700 or something nobody knew his age exactly. You greeted all of the elders with a bow and some of them nodded back others just gave you a quick look. You made your way to the head of the table to greet your grandfather.
"It's good to see you, grandfather." You said with a polite smile as you made a 90-degree bow.
"You don't have to bow you know that. We are family." He said with a smile. "It's good to see you too."
Your grandfather liked you a lot but he would never tell you. You just had a feeling about it. He always treated you a little bit better and with more respect than others.
"Come on sit beside me, please." He said.
You took the offer and placed yourself by his side. Your father also sat down. He had a proud smile on his face as he looked at you.
"It looks like my brother is not here." Your father said.
"It doesn't matter. We will start without him. He is always late." The Alpha said annoyed.
You could hear in his voice that he was angry. All of the elders nodded in agreement.
"So, why don't you tell us exactly what happened." The Alpha said while looking at you.
You swallowed hard. No need to say that you were nervous as hell. This was the first time you spoke with all the elders at the same time. You stood up so they could see you better while your heart pounded fast in your chest and the panic attack crept through your body. Suddenly the door opened and your uncle and his son barged in. His gaze wandered through the room and as soon as he looked at you his eyes filled with anger and disgust.
"Why is she here?" He said while looking at your grandfather.
He was in a rage and the corner of his mouth twitched.
"JUST sit down." The Alpha barked.
Both men stared into each other eyes but your uncle broke eye contact quickly. He did as he was told. His son followed him and both sat down.
"Y/n, please continue." The Alpha told you with a softer voice.
After a deep breath, you started. You tried not to think about all the attention you got from the others. Otherwise, you would start to shake. Suddenly the picture of your smiling wife popped up in your mind and you felt your body and mind relax a little. It helped thinking about her.
"Hello everyone, yesterday we got attacked by a creature in one of the city parks. I was able to scare the creature away but someone else was injured. I think this is not an individual case." You told them and looked nervously around.
All of the others had concerned looks on their faces.
"You said we. Who are we? You also said the person is injured?" Your grandfather asked you.
In his face, you could read serious concern about the other person you were talking about. You don't want to tell him about Elenor because you don't want him to react negatively. He didn't know about the marriage and didn't attend your wedding as well. Your uncle on the other hand knew everything about it. You took all your courage together and looked at the Alpha.
"I was in the park with my wife. Her name is Elenor." You told him while you were talking your gaze drifted down to the ground.
Deep inside your heart, you wished he would accept the marriage with Elenor. He didn't know that you were gay and a lot of Werewolves weren't as open-minded as they pretended to be. Was your grandfather one of them?
"You are married?" He asked in surprise.
You simply nodded as an answer. The surprise on his face faded and a soft smile took its place. He seemed to be proud but maybe the Alpha hid his true emotions behind his smile.
"Well, you forgot to mention that your lovely wife is a Vampire." You heard your uncle say.
He spat those words out like bad-tasting gum. Your grandfather was even more surprised because he knew you didn't like Vampires that much.
"I just wish you and Elenor the best. Well, I hope she is all right?" He said and completely ignored his firstborn son.
"She is fine. Thank you." You replied with a polite smile.
Your grandfather smile back and you knew that he had no problem with you being married to a woman. The smile on his face was so genuine that it made the insecurity in your heart wash away. Your uncle stood up and raised his voice.
"BUT SHE IS A VAMPIRE!" He yelled out in anger.
He wanted to drive a chock between the two of you. Your grandfather just looked at him in rage.
"I was patient with you. Just stay silent or you have to leave." He said calmly.
"Take that you ignorant pig." You thought.
He sat down again. The elders just stood silent. One of them cleared their throat.
"You said, you think that is not an individual case. What did you mean by that?" Mrs. Park asked.
She was dressed in a weird-looking suit. Her hair was spiky and her make-up was funny. She looked hideous, but at the same time intimidating. Around her, you could feel a special aura that made you feel less nervous.
"Well, there were some murders recently in the city. One of my friends told me that the victims were all Vampires or Werewolves. It happened to be that they were also from wealthy families or had a high status. Like me and my wife." You replied.
"Who told you that?" Another elder wanted to know.
He was dressed like a rich businessman. You didn't know him.
"Well, one of our pack was killed in a park a few days ago. He was badly battered. I think that is no coincidence." He told you after a pause.
"It was Robin Hayes, Sir. She works as a coroner." You explained.
"Ahh, Robin. I know her. She is a brilliant doctor." Mrs. Park said. "I think, I believe what you say. What about you?" She asked everyone in the room.
"Me too, but there were also Vampires involved. I think we should talk with them too. " Your father said.
"Who cares about these bloodsuckers anyway?" Your uncle said.
"I do." You and your grandfather said at the same time.
Your grandfather looked at you in surprise but your gaze was fixed on your uncle. The nervousness you felt before was gone, now you felt anger. How could you be like him uncle?
"Why did I hate Vampires and how was my wife able to change that? I'm glad that she changed me." You thought.
The anger you felt before slowly faded when you remembered your father's words.
"Someone told me we should work together. So we can grow as Vampires and Werewolves." You said while giving your father a look.
He was smiling and nodded in agreement. A small smile was on his face and you knew he recognized his own words. Your oncle let out another scoff.
"If we join forces. We will be stronger against this possible threat." The business dude said.
All of the presents seemed to agree except your uncle.
"Can you organize a meeting with the elders of the Vampire clans?" The Alpha said to your father. "You seem to have the right connections."
Your father nodded.
"And Mrs. Park, I want that Robin also to attend. She is from your pack, right?" He asked.
"Yes." Mrs. Park said. "But she will need emotional support. She is a little shy, you know?" She explained.
"I will allow it." The Alpha said.
"Oh, we are now inviting lower-ranked Werewolves too? How about humans next?" Your uncle said with clear disagreement to all of this.
"Get out NOW. If you don't want to help with this issue." Your grandfather said slowly.
His eyes were glowing in silver. He was clearly at the end of his patience. Your uncle stood up and left the room with his snobbish son in tow.
"Sorry about that. He just doesn't want to learn. I hope he will do better when he is the Alpha." Your grandfather said.
A few moments passed while the room was silent.
"This is serious. I don't know many creatures who can kill a Werewolf or Vampire." The Alpha said with a serious tone. "Y/n, can you ask your wife to attend too? I want to meet her." He said after a while.
"Sure. I can ask her." You said with a smile.
"Good. We will see us in a few days. You are all dismissed." He said and left the room.
As all of the elders left Mrs. Park made her way to you.
"You are an extraordinary person. I don't know many Werewolves that accept the Vampires in our society." She said.
"Thank you, Ma'am. My friends and wife have changed my view." You said.
"Let me guess you are also friends with Alexandria?" She gave you a questioning look.
You nodded.
"She is my best friend, as well as Robin." You told her.
"Well, then you know that I lied earlier, about Robin being shy and all." She asked. "I just wanted Robin not to feel alone, when she will come to the meeting. It's true, she is lower ranked and has no connection to the elders at any point. I don't want her to feel nervous. Maybe Alexandria will come too. I know they are a good match." She added and winked at you.
"I understand. I will keep that secret." You said with a smile.
"I know you will." She said and also left.
Mrs. Park was thinking that you and your father would make a better successor than your uncle and his son. She thought they were rude and ignorant. If it was her choice she would have you as her new leader. She was impressed by you. Your father was waiting by the door. You walked towards him.
"What was that about?" He wanted to know.
"Nothing." You said.
"Well, it seems that she likes you and does not like many people." He explained with a smirk on his face.
"Well, I'm a charming person." You said with sarcasm.
Both laughed at your little joke.
"You did well. I am proud of you." He said while he put a hand on one of your shoulders.
This was the first time your father ever said that he is proud of you.
"Thank you, father." You said with tears in your eyes.
"So, do you want to tell me about your life with Elenor?" He said with honest interest.
This was a surprise but you told him everything you and Elenor had done in your house. You told him about the home office and the garden and her cooking skills. He asked you what she did for a living, and you also told him. You left out the part where you and Elenor got closer. The part where the two of you were cuddling in your bed and the feeling you have when you think about her. You were not quite sure what you felt for her but you were sure you liked her. After the conversation, you waved him goodbye and left. It was already 10 pm when you looked at your phone. There was a message from Elenor.
Elenor: Hey, there are leftovers in the stove. Feel free to warm them up when you are home.
You started feeling hungry and headed home as fast as possible.
