It was the day of the trip to the Academy. I said goodbye to the territory's inhabitants and soldiers who had treated me well during my seventeen years of life here.
My villa has a front garden, tended by two servants. The villa is surrounded by walls, topped with barbed wire.
I was standing at the entrance of the villa. My maid, butler and Yvet were here with the other soldiers. Father didn't come.
I was a little sad that my father didn't come to say goodbye, but I couldn't live up to his expectations so it's okay.
"Lord Devian, your father had told me to give this letter to you along with this." Yvet said as he handed me a letter along with a bag of gold. I could hear the sound of the coins inside the bag easily.
"Is he not going to come?" I asked.
"Sadly, no" Yvet said as the others also looked quite sad.
"Then, I am going to read it on my way there." I said as I hopped inside the carriage.
"Let's go." I said to the carriage man as he started the carriage.
Everybody waved goodbye to me and I did the same to them. After some minutes, the mansion soon went far away from my point of view and after that my territory. The path in which the carriage was going, was surrounded by forests left and right.
I looked at the letter in my hand and opened it.
'My son Devian,
I'm sorry if what I said yesterday had hurt you. I wanted you to do something good with your life. But ultimately, you can decide what you want to do. Therefore, I am giving you a chance to prove that the path you have chosen is the best for you. If you graduate from the academy and still fail to become a high-ranking knight, you must follow the path I have set for you.
I hope you do your best. Good luck. '
I was feeling happy, sad and angry at the same time after reading the letter. I couldn't decide what I should feel.
I was going to the Academy where the hero's party would be selected. The road from my estate to the academy was surrounded by two forests and between them, the Viscount's town was named Balerno. My town was named Torrine which is smaller than Balerno.
It takes about two days to cross the first forest and about one day to cross the second. I would have to rest in Viscount's town to proceed further.
To pass the time, I had brought something along with.
I took out a bag underneath the seat of the carriage. It was a large bag filled with stones. I had brought it to kill time on the way and to practice my new skill.
I held a stone in my hand and looked for something outside the window to hit and test my skills.
I looked at the front of the carriage to find anything. I saw a squirrel on a tree tilting its head to look at our carriage. I mentally activated my AIMBOT ability and waited for it to come in my ten metre range.
Wait. How do I know to activate the skill with my mind? These new memories are messing with my head.
As I held my head and pondered these memories, I realized that our carriage had already passed the squirrel. I prepared myself to shoot at it.
My hand then automatically re-aimed to hit the squirrel's head. It fell down on the ground, lifeless.
Last time it didn't go well with the sword due to the low speed of my sword after it was deflected.
Hang on a minute. Switching my skill to the weapon option, it will automatically fight with everyone.
I started grinning as I had finally found myself an easy path to becoming a high-ranking knight or even a member of the hero's party.
But, what did the default mean? I guess I should wait for my next Target to test this one out.
