Chapter 13 - New Student

The day went by so fast, faster than Lanfen and Yu could process what Roulan and Huiqing told them.

So basically, the two are dating, starting back when Chang confronted Huiqing.

It was like a surge of wanting to prove something to the guy, so she decided to answer Roulan, who was "courting" her.

Lanfen and Yu felt betrayed upon hearing what they said.

Of course, Roulan and Huiqing felt guilty for telling half the truth.

It's now the next day, and Roulan has to fetch Huiqing to her house so they can portray the "perfect couple" that everyone thinks.

With Huiqing in a relationship, they would always think of a perfect couple that everyone would love.

Roulan entered the cafe and went to where Huiqing sat yesterday.

The girl texted her that she'd be a little late because something came up, which Roulan understands.

Well, I might as well eat breakfast while I'm here."

Roulan said, leaving her bag at the table as she went to the counter to order her food.

-

Guang looks at her friend, who seems very excited to go back to school, as she drives her to Monarch University.

She sighs for the nth time, which Yanmei noticed earlier, making the girl's face harden, and she leans at the seat.

"Ok, what's the problem?"

Yanmei asks, crossing her arms over her chest and glancing at Guang in confusion.

The younger girl shakes her head, her eyes watering as she feels the extreme happiness she feels for the older.

"Nothing."

She said and sniffed.

Yanmei's eyebrow furrowed as she heard the girl sniffing.

"Are you crying?"

"What? No!"

Guang denied it and quickly pulled over at the university's gate.

She saw the looks of the students inside and outside of the university as they murmured to each other.

She went out of the car, and when she heard the passenger door opening, she concluded that Yanmei had gone out as well.

The murmur went a little louder, and Guang felt like she was being judged by the people around her.

Yanmei quickly went to her side and grabbed her wrist, dragging her inside the school.

"Don't mind them."

Yanmei whispered as the two of them walked into the hall.

Guang's eyes traveled around, and she couldn't help but feel excited as she finally had the chance to walk inside the university.

Monarch University is a well-known school and one of the prestige universities. They offer a lot, and one of their competitors that they have feuded with for a long time is River College, Guang's current school.

Monarch University is a lot bigger than River Collage, as it has a full-size basketball court that can convert into a volleyball court, badminton court, and tennis court.

The schedules at the university are a lot different than those at River Collage, as they prioritize sports and academics, making them climb up the chart in terms of being a good university.

Monarch University is a hard one to get into. You either have to be so rich or a genius to get in.

Heck, even in River Collage, it's so hard to get in.

Good thing Guang's family is well-known.

"How did she manage to get in here?"

Guang went beside Yanmei as she whispered the question she'd been wanting to ask.

The older woman looked at her before shrugging her shoulders, as if she didn't know what to say.

"I don't know; should I know everything?"

Yanmei asks with an attitude.

Guang looked at her as if she had told her something incredible.

"I mean, wouldn't you hire someone to know that person a lot more?"

It has been Yanmei's habit to hire a private investigator for every person she interacts with.

She also wanted to know if they were worthy of being her friend or even breathing the same air as her.

Of course, this girl thinks of herself as someone special and doesn't want any ordinary person to get near her.

Yet, here she is.

"Why would I? I can simply get to know her."

Yanmei said, glancing at Guang with a smile.

They finally reach the principal's office, and Yanmei holds her fist up to knock on the door.

They heard a faint "come in," which made Yanmei open the door and go inside.

The office looks nothing special. It's your typical box-shaped air-conditioned room with white walls, a desk, a couch, and the old man who's sitting in the swivel chair.

The man stands up from his chair, extending his right hand for Yanmei to shake hands with.

"Ms. Zhao! It's great to finally see you!"

Yanmei finally went to his desk and stared at the man's right hand. Her brows rise, making the old man's hand get retrieved.

"Don't like handshakes? It's fine! Please take a seat."

Yanmei sat down on the chair in front of him as Guang sat beside her.

The principal glanced at her and smiled at her, which Guang reciprocated.

"Ms. Zhao, would you like to drink-"

"Can we please get to the point? Mr. Wu?"

"Ah, right."

Mr. Wu nodded his head as he stood up and went to the storage at his back.

He grabbed a folder and sat back down.

"Here is your schedule, a map, your ID, and the room and building number."

Mr. Wu said as Yanmei opened the folder and nodded her head.

"Alright, thank you."

Yanmei said but looked back at Mr. Wu as if she wanted to ask something.

"No one will tour me around the university?"

Mr. Wu stops for a while before he smiles and shakes his head.

"The university changes its policies and wouldn't want to disturb any students to tour someone in the middle of the semester."

Yanmeis's face hardened, which Guang notices, and she quickly held the older's arm.

"Hey, we can tour together, ok? Let's go so I won't be late."

"Nope, I want someone to take me here."

"Ms. Zhao-"

"You ask someone or you know what will happen."

Yanmei said with a sinister smile.

The reason Yanmei managed to get inside the university was because Shihong blackmailed the principal.

Mr. Wu is a pervert, a corrupt principal who has CCTV records of students showering.

Shihong manages to find them even before he approaches Mr. Wu to ask for his daughter to get inside the university.

But Mr. Wu didn't agree that fast, saying that despite the large amounts of money he even offered, he wouldn't enroll his daughter because they were in the middle of the semester.

Of course, Shihong knew his daughter wouldn't like that decision, so he decided to blackmail him.

Yanmei saw the nervousness of the old man, and she smirked in victory.

She stands up, and Guang follows, holding the folder in her hand.

"I'll wait for that someone in the cafeteria."

She said and went to the door, opening it, but before she could step out, she looked back and said a name.

"I'd like it if it's Xia Yu."

She said that and went out.

-

Roulan waits outside of Huiqing's room as the second bell rings, indicating that the girl's classes are finally over.

She saw the surge of students going out with their friends before the people inside the classroom lessened, and her eyes quickly landed on Huiqing's figure.

Her breathing stops as she watches the girl clean up her desk, admiring her from afar.

"She'll melt if you continue."

Roulan flinches and looks at her back.

She saw a girl, a bit smaller than her who had a smile on her face.

"Hi, I'm Song Ai, Huiqing's friend."

Ai extended her hand for Roulan, which the girl accepted with a smile.

"I'm-"

"Li Roulan, I know you already."

Roulan's mouth formed a circle as she nodded and removed her hand from the girl when she felt someone clinging to her.

"Roulan, you met my friend."

"Yes, you wouldn't want me to meet her, so I went and introduced myself."

Ai said, to which Huiqing replied with a glare.

"I was just about to; we'll eat at the table, you know?"

Oh, that's good, they wanted to meet her."

Ai said and smiled.

Roulan glances at Huiqing and finds her looking back at her.

"Wait, I'm still not ready to meet your friends."

Oh, it's fine. I'll introduce you next time if you want."

"Nope, they're dying to know you already."

Ai said before grabbing Roulan's wrist and dragging the girl away from Huiqing.

"Hey! Ai!"

Huiqing yelled to get her attention, but the girl didn't stop.

Roulan looks back at her, seemingly asking for her help, to which Huiqing replied by following them.
