Roulan felt excited as she exited her apartment building. She wanted to know Huiqing's true feelings so they could settle everything.
She would never think that the girl would like her or even notice her becoming her "fake girlfriend."
But she wouldn't lie, though.
Even if Huiqing uses her, she'll be forever grateful.
Is she a simp? Yes, she is a simp.
As soon as she stepped out of her apartment building, someone blocked her vision, and her mouth was also blocked.
She squirms under the person's hold before feeling pushed inside a vehicle.
Wait, is she being kidnapped?
Before she could run away, the person closed the door harshly as she heard a click, indicating that the car had been locked.
Sensing that the car was moving, she went to look at the door and tried opening it, but to no avail as it was locked.
"Don't try to run away."
Roulan paused on her spot as she heard a deep voice.
It was oddly familiar to her, but she couldn't pinpoint where she heard the sound.
Where was it?
"Don't you remember me?"
Roulan finally dares to look back and sees a man, probably in his mid-50s, wearing a luxurious tuxedo that has a funky pattern and is the color blue.
Was this man going to perform or something? She has only seen that type of suit on television.
Roulan couldn't help but snort, to which the man glared at her in the process.
"Why are you laughing?"
She couldn't help but release a giggle that turned into a chuckle, and soon, loud laughter coming from her was heard inside the vehicle.
The driver was shocked that his master was being laughed at.
He couldn't help but feel sorry about what might happen to the girl who was crying because of too much laughing.
"I'm sorry."
Roulan said, sniffing in the process as she wiped her tears; a big smile spread across her lips but faded as she remembered that she was being kidnapped.
"Wait, where are you taking me?"
Roulan asks, looking at the man, and it finally clicks on her.
It was the man that night!
But this time, she could finally see what he looked like.
He still has that scar, and he doesn't look like a criminal at all.
He looks attractive! With his hair flicked back, fox-like eyes, and a very defined muscular face shape.
It's familiar to her, but where did she see those features?
He also looks buff and seems to be taking care of his body, and Roulan thinks that the man is someone who shouldn't be judged too soon.
Which is what she did.
"I told you, my daughter might be asking me to find you, which she has not done yet."
"What? Who is that anyway? I don't have any idea."
Roulan said, still trying to figure out the mysterious person that she spent the night with.
The man shakes his head, glaring at the girl.
"I don't want you to know her."
Roulan groans and stomps her feet as she continues to look down at the man who's sitting down.
Well, she didn't sit down because no one offered her a seat and she'd look disrespectful, so she continues to stand up even when she has already bent her body.
"How will I end this? I don't want to know her anyway."
"Kid, I'm telling you. You are lucky to spend the night with her."
"You're eventually going to know her."
"I'll go back to you if she says something."
As the man finished, the door of the vehicle opened, and Roulan was pulled back outside.
Before she could ask the man what he meant, the vehicle drove off on the road like a horse getting chased by its greatest fear.
She sighs and stands up from the ground, looking around the area before huffing a breath.
"That man, he only made me a bit far from my house and Huiqing's."
-
"Sir, don't you want something to do with her?"
The driver spoke as Shihong looked outside of the moving vehicle.
He's observing Roulan closely as the girl walks to get back to her house.
As they went away from Roulan, Shihong quickly ordered the driver to get another car and closely observe the girl.
"Let her."
"But sir-"
"I'm looking after her."
Shihong said, venom lacing his voice.
He couldn't help but feel a little happy upon seeing how respectful Roulan is, even though the girl laughed at him because of his clothes, but that was the purpose.
Shihong has been doing this with all of the men that Yanmei has spent the night with. And all of them only want his daughter because she's rich, looking at how the father dressed up.
But Roulan doesn't seem to conclude that he is a rich man.
And she also doesn't feel like she already knew the man because she stood up the whole time they were riding in the vehicle.
He's very impressed with the girl's attitude.
"Don't you think she's unique?"
"Excuse me?"
"I mean, she doesn't feel threatened at all."
Yes, sir, she even dared to laugh at you."
Shihong sighs, his eyebrows furrowing, when Roulan goes into a park.
"Stop for now."
The driver stops the car as Shihong looks at Roulan.
The girl sat down on the bench, sighing as she seemed to be talking to herself until a child came running in front of her, tripping in the process.
Roulan quickly stands up and helps the child, talking to him in the process.
"Sir, she looks kind and soft-hearted."
"I know, but I feel like she'll hate my daughter."
"Why sir? Ms. Zhao is a beautiful lady."
"They are the complete opposite."
Shihong couldn't help but feel a little scared of what was to come.
He doesn't want to send his daughter to the altar, but he feels like Roulan is the one.
He could also use the girl to fix their relationship.
Though he knew it, opposites do attract each other.
His eyes follow Roulan, who went away from the child to the store beside the car where Shihong is parking and bought a band-aid with two ice creams in her hand.
The girl went back to the park and treated the wound, giving one of the ice creams to the little man beside her.
He smiled and nodded his head, tapping the driver's seat as he signaled the man to drive away.
-
Roulan sighs as she finally comes back to her house, plopping down on the couch but furrowing her eyebrows when she smells something burning.
"Wait."
She quickly stands up from her couch and goes to the hidden kitchen, seeing a familiar figure of a girl who is blowing at the growing fire that is set on the pan.
She widens her eyes, snatching the tower from the girl's hands, and goes to grab a cover to put out the fire.
"Oh my! You're about to set my apartment on fire!"
Roulan said, calming down after killing the fire.
She sighs and looks at the girl, only to see Huiqing standing in front of her, looking down at the kitchen floor, with her hands behind her back.
Her gaze softened, and she couldn't help but chuckle, to which the girl replied with a glare.
"I was just trying to cook."
"You could just ask me to cook."
Roulan looks at the pan and opens it, seeing the small burnt egg laying peacefully in the pan.
She went to the dishes and grabbed a plate, putting it down before she opened the stove again and cooked Huiqing something.
"Are you still going to eat that egg?"
"Inflation keeps on getting higher, and it's a waste of money to throw it away."
"Also because you cooked it."
Huiqing's lips twitched into a smile, her face getting a little redder as she looked away and went out of the kitchen.
She looks around Roulan's place and is in awe at how clean and aesthetically pleasing it is.
She saw how it was thoroughly thought out.
The apartment is a loft-style one. It has a high ceiling in the living room as the loft hides the small kitchen where Roulan is.
She flinched when someone tapped her shoulder.
Looking back, she saw Roulan with a smile and invited her to eat already.
"How did you manage to get inside?"
As Huiqing sat down, Roulan began to question the things that had been stuck in her mind upon learning the girl was inside her apartment.
Huiqing's cheeks turn red again as she looks at her plate.
"I'm planning on talking to you because it's not right to leave you standing, and I should learn how to accept your answer, so I ask Yu where I should find you."
Huiqing began.
"She told me you asked about my address but you never came, so I went to yours."
Roulan nodded her head.
"Something came up; that's why I wasn't able to go to yours."
