Roulan's eyes squinted as her mouth opened, releasing a laugh as if the girl in front of her had told her something funny.
Yanmei's eyes, which were full of affection, hardened as she clenched her jaw, getting a little irritated that Roulan ignored her and seemed to not believe her words.
"You're funny."
Roulan's eyes watered as she continued to laugh, and her stomach started to get in pain. She stopped for a while and breathed heavily.
She wiped the side of her eyes and looked at the older girl in front, seeing her with seriousness in her eyes as Roulan gulped and sat down straight.
"I'm serious."
"No, I have a girlfriend."
Roulan stands up from the chair and grabs her bag, but Yanmei stops her right away as the girl stands right up from her chair to grab the taller's arm.
"I don't care."
Yanmei said, her eyes looking straight at Roulan's with passion and affection, not trying to hide the fact that she has feelings for the younger.
"We could hide our re-"
Roulan pushes Yanmei away from her and glares. She pointed her index finger as she strode forward with murderous eyes.
"That is cheating. Huiqing is a precious one for me, and no one's going to change that."
Roulan said this before she put her bag on her shoulder and walked away. But before she could even get out of the room, Yanmei spoke something; her voice was laced with venom.
"You think I don't know? You two are just pretending!"
Roulan side-eyed Yanmei before she smiled widely.
"We mutually have feelings for each other, and it's not a surprise if one day we make things come true."
-
Roulan catches a breath as she sits down at the side of the campus, closing her eyes as she leans against the wall.
She felt a hand and towel wiping her forehead, and she opened her eyes.
She saw Huiqing, who had her eyebrows furrowed, as the girl looked at her worriedly and with a questioning gaze.
"Where have you been? You didn't enter the last class."
Roulan smiles as she pulls Huiqing by her arm and hugs the girl tightly.
Huiqing was surprised by her action but hugged her back, stroking Roulan's sweaty hair.
"You should get up from here and change your clothes."
"I don't want to."
"Come on, you need to change."
Huiqing pulled away from Roulan's arms and stood up, dusting her knees and putting her hand out for Roulan.
The taller woman smiled before she accepted, standing up with Huiqing's help as she took two strides to Huiqing's apartment.
"Where have you been?"
Huiqing wants to know where Roulan has been, as she saw that Yanmei and Roulan were with each other earlier at lunch.
It's been killing her since she couldn't change her mind, thinking that Yanmei likes Roulan as she observes the older looking at the younger.
Huiqing puts Roulan's arms around her shoulder as she helps the girl walk.
"I was with Yanmei earlier."
"Where did the two of you go?"
Huiqing glances at Roulan's face, and the girl's calm expression hardens as she remembers what happened at the friendly lunch date that the older woman prepared.
"Just somewhere a little far. I ran away, actually."
"Huh? Is that why you're sweaty?"
"Yes."
"What happened?"
"Can we not talk about it?"
Roulan stops walking as she looks at Huiqing, to which the smaller person replies with an understanding face and smiles widely at her.
"Ok, talk to me whenever you want to."
Roulan smiles widely as she nods, continuing their walk in a peaceful and calm silence.
"We have homework, and I'll help you with it."
"I'm so thankful to have you, Huiqing."
"Oh, please, it's just me."
Roulan laughs at Huiqing's confidence before she shakes her head.
She stops for a while and looks at the smaller girl, tucking a hair behind her ear as she cups Huiqing's fluffy cheeks and bops her nose.
"That's why I like you."
Huiqing's cheeks were squished by Roulan, but she did manage to smile at the girl, her lips pouting a little with the sides tucked in a smile.
"And I'll make other good reasons for you to like me more."
Roulan's cheeks reddened as she nodded, removing her hands from the poor girl's cheeks.
"You being you is enough."
"Cheesy."
"But you like that cheesy."
Roulan winks as Huiqing laughs and pushes her by the shoulder. She clings back onto Roulan's left arm as the girl smiles and looks around.
Her eyebrows furrowed as she saw the familiar vehicle parked not far from them, already feeling those glaring eyes looking at them.
"Something's wrong?"
Huiqing asks, noticing Roulan's change of attitude.
The taller woman glances back at her and smiles, shaking her head as she guides Huiqing to walk.
"Nothing; don't mind it."
Roulan puts her arms around Huiqing's waist and pulls the girl closer to her, glancing at the vehicle as she smirks.
Yanmei, who had been observing the two scoffs before she started the car, drove away from the scene.
"Jerk, you think I can't have you? Just wait."
She mumbles as she finally reaches their mansion in time, parking the car on the side as she furrows her eyebrows, seeing someone's car.
She walks inside the mansion, the staff bowing down on her as she continues to walk, not bothering to greet them back.
As she finally reached the office area of her father's, she overheard the conversation happening inside.
"My son needs to hurry."
"Why?"
"I wanted our friendship to go to the next level. Peizhi is so slow."
"Ye, my daughter is also busy at times and seems to not care about relationships at the moment."
Bai Ye is Peizhi's father. Shihong and him have been friends ever since high school.
And it continues until today, when Ye and Shihong decided that their children could become one, indicating that their friendship could turn into a family.
"Peizhi will always wait for Yanmei."
Yanmei opens the door with a smile as she strides towards Ye to give the older man a hug.
"Uncle, it's nice to see you again."
"Yanmei, my dear, you've grown a lot."
Yanmei pulled away as she smiled and looked at her father. Her smile faded as she remembered the reason she went home.
"Uncle, can I talk to my father?"
"Of course, dear, I can wait for him here."
Ye said, sitting down on the couch as he pulled out his phone, answering messages that he didn't have time to answer.
Yanmei went to her father and grabbed the older man's wrist, dragging him towards a more private space.
"What is it, princess?"
"I'm done being kind like that. I wanted her to like me, but she's pissing me off."
Yanmei said, huffing a breath as she glared at her father and crossed her arms.
"It takes time for her to open up to you. She just met you."
"I don't care."
"I want to marry her."
Yanmei looked into her father's eyes, pleading with him as she continued to intimate him.
Shihong sighs.
"Princess, Ye's expecting you and Peizhi."
Yanmei scoffs and sits down on the couch, inside one of the living areas in the mansion where no one comes around.
"Then tell Uncle it won't happen."
Yanmei said, looking out of the window and seeing the right side of the backyard.
"Because I'll be marrying Roulan, and that's final."
