Chapter 1 - From The Ashes

Plumes of smoke rose into the air. The undeniable stench of burnt flesh permeated the air.

Charred wood and ruins were all that was left of the once peaceful and quiet town.

Only the sound of crackling wood could be heard. The chirping of birds that could usually be heard were no where to be found.

Joyous laughter of children and the laughing of friends was absent from the once bright village.

A skeletal being about seven feet tall and draped in black rags was walking through town.

It walked towards the centre of the town. Many corpses lie in the long pathway that made up what looked like the Main Street.

The skeletal being stopped when he was in the middle of about twenty corpses.

Suddenly a book covered in a black glow flew from inside the skeletal beings cloak.

The book opened and turned a few pages.

"Rise, rise, rise up and come back! You have been wronged and delivered an unjust death! Rise up and fight for me!" At the end of the skeletons words the corpses began to rise. The skin that once held tight to the bones slid off and left bloody bones.

The crackling of fire was interrupted by the screams of tortured souls. Skeletons of all sizes stood up. Small skeletons that could only be children too stood up.

Everything was going fine, but there was an anomaly.

The skeletal being looked off into the distance. A house in ruins could be seen. Half of it was destroyed while the other half was relatively intact.

The skeleton ordered its new minions to line up before it began walking towards the house.

*Argh!* as the skeleton walked towards the house he heard crying and screaming. The screaming was that of a child. The skeleton tilted its head and walked forwards.

He opened the door and walked into the house. If he could feel he would know it's hot, really hot. The crying was louder than before and was just around the corner.

The skeleton turned the corner. What he saw was a sad boy. The boy sat crying at the charred corpses of his mother and father. He couldn't have been older than twelve.

The boy was so immersed in his own suffering he didn't notice the reaper of death standing behind him.

The skeleton inwardly sighed and pulled out his wand. With the flick of his wrist and a quick word a green ray shot out and collided with the boy.

Instead of the reaction the skeleton expected however, the ray was dispersed.

The skeleton looked oddly at the boy who had turned and stared with hate in his eyes.

"My my. You are special boy, come with me." The boy looked at his parents corpses and back to the skeleton.

"No…" the boy cried out and went back to staring at his parents corpses.

"You have a gift boy, you may not know it but I can help you. You can become powerful and get revenge. Don't you want to make your parents proud?" At the words of making his parents proud the boy looked back.

With snot and tears covering the boys face, the boy stood up and nodded to the skeleton.

With that the skeleton walked outside with the boy at his side.
