Chapter 35 - Medicine Shop Girl Celia

The old man pushed the door open, and Morty followed closely behind Rebecca.

After entering the house, the interior of the first floor was decorated in a tavern style. There was a bar counter and a few old tables. The tables and chairs looked old and shiny. The environment was a little dark, and there was not even a single customer inside.

The old man was very enthusiastic. After greeting the two of them into the building, he brought out some meat and wine and greeted them, "The two of you must be hungry. Come and have some food."

Morty touched his stomach. Indeed, he had not eaten anything since he left in the morning.

Looking at the meat on the table, he remembered that he hadn't touched meat for a long time, so he didn't refuse. He sat down at the table, took out the few silver coins he had left, and handed them to the old man.

"Old man, this money should be enough, right?"

Unexpectedly, the old man's expression changed when he saw the money. He glared at him and said unhappily, "Little Brother, what kind of person do you take me for? You've helped me by eliminating those scoundrels. How can I accept money from my benefactor? Take it back!"

Seeing how sincere the old man was, Morty could only stop forcing him and put away the money.

Only then did the old man's expression become a little better. He called the two of them to eat.

Morty took a piece of meat and took a bite. He thought it tasted good and turned to Rebecca. "Rebecca, you should eat some too…"

As soon as he turned around, he sensed that something was wrong. Rebecca's eyes were slightly narrowed, and her breathing was very weak. Her body was also swaying as if she would faint at any moment. Clearly, her injuries were more serious than he had imagined.

"Rebecca?!"

Seeing her like this, Morty no longer had the mood to eat. He quickly picked her up and said to the old man anxiously, "Old man, please arrange a room for me first. My friend's injuries are a little serious."

The old man didn't dare to be negligent. Without a word, he took the two of them upstairs and arranged an empty room for them.

After placing Rebecca on the bed, Morty reached out to touch Rebecca's forehead. It was cold to the touch, as if she was a corpse, without any warmth.

"This girl's injuries are a little serious." The old man muttered to himself. Then, as if he had thought of something, he patted Morty's shoulder gently.

"Little Brother, we can't just wait like this. I know a medicine shop in town. Go and get a doctor to take a look at this girl."

"Alright." Morty nodded, looked at the weak Rebecca, and whispered in her ear, "Rebecca, I'm going to find a doctor. I'll be back soon."

Rebecca struggled to open her eyes. She glanced at him and nodded slightly.

The originally lively and cute girl was now so weak. Morty's heart ached. He did not dare to delay any longer. After asking for direction to the medicine shop, he hurriedly left the inn.

Following the old man's directions, Morty headed northeast of the town. Soon, he found the medicine shop that the old man had mentioned.

It was a small house about 30 square meters in size. There was some white cloth at the door, and some plants that had never been seen before were dried on it. They looked like some kind of medicinal herbs. A young girl who looked to be in her early twenties, dressed in coarse linen clothes, and had silver hair, was busy in front of the door.

"Hello," Morty stepped forward and asked softly, "Are you the doctor?"

"The doctor is out," the girl replied without looking up. "You can tell me if you need any medicine."

Morty was in a difficult position. He didn't even know Rebecca's symptoms, let alone take the medicine. He could only ask helplessly, "When will the doctor be back?"

"I don't know. He..." The girl raised her head. When she saw the flower pot on Morty's back, she was stunned. Then, she quickly came forward and sized him up with her big blue eyes.

"What, what's wrong?" Morty was a little puzzled. The distance between the two was very close. He could even smell the mixed smell of medicinal herbs on the girl's body.

"You're the hero who chased away those three bastard swordsmen?" The girl said with anticipation.

A hero?

Morty shook his head with a bitter smile. "I don't deserve to be called a hero. I was just trying to protect myself."

"So it's really you?!" The girl was excited, her eyes filled with admiration. "You're amazing! Those three annoying fellows usually do nasty things every day. It's all thanks to you. You're a great hero!"

The girl cheered and expressed her excitement. It took her a long time to calm down. Her face was red as she reached out her hand to him. "Hello, my name is Celia. If you need anything, just tell me."

"Hello, Celia." Morty reached out and held the girl's hand. Perhaps it was because she worked often, the skin on her hand was not as delicate as Rebecca's. On the contrary, there were even calluses in some places, which were a little rough.

"My friend is injured and needs a doctor to treat her."

Celia was stunned for a moment, then patted her chest and said, "I can go too. Just because I collect and dry herbs here every day, doesn't mean I don't know how to treat a patient."

"Then let's go." Morty did not hesitate. Instead of waiting for the doctor to come back, he might as well let the girl, Celia, take a look first.

"Wait a moment. I'll collect the medicine. I'll be right there."
