Chereads / Farming With Seven Wives in the Magic World / Chapter 38 - The Secret in the Book

Chapter 38 - The Secret in the Book

Morty looked at the trees around the manor. The most important thing now was to expand the outer perimeter of the manor. With these trees blocking the way, it was impossible to complete.

"What should I do with these trees?"

It was obviously unrealistic to use an ax to cut them down. If he cut the nearly 100-meter-tall tree in the wrong direction, he would probably become the first transmigrator to be killed by a tree after transmigrating.

Use fire?

Looking at the lush forest in the distance, Morty wisely chose to give up. Once the fire could not be controlled, it would be a disaster.

So, Morty gave up.

"Let's start from the other side of the pond."

Behind the pond was a patch of shrubs. Compared to the hundred-meter-tall trees, the shrubs were obviously easier to deal with.

Putting the bone powder aside, Morty began to deal with the bushes.

However, after he started working, he realized that it may sound easy, but it was also quite troublesome to do. Not to mention anything else, just the entangled branches were enough to give him a headache.

After a busy afternoon, Morty was so tired that he couldn't even straighten his back. Less than one-tenth of the bushes had been cleared.

"Phew! I'll do the rest tomorrow."

Morty let out a long sigh of relief and threw the ax away. This was not a human's job.

"If only I had magic,"

All of a sudden, Morty missed Rebecca. If Rebecca was still here, she could easily get rid of the bushes with her Wind Blade. There was no need to go all this trouble.

"Young Master, it's time to eat."

The maid stood at the door and called out.

"I'll be there."

Morty took off his gloves and returned to his room. As soon as he entered, a strong smell of meat assaulted him.

On the table in the living room, there was freshly roasted pork. The fat dripped onto the plate and looked especially tempting.

Morty couldn't help but swallow his saliva. Although he had eaten some meat in the inn in Roguetown, it was dried meat after all. It wasn't as attractive as the roast meat in front of him.

Without any hesitation, Morty quickly walked to the table and picked up a piece of oily meat to eat.

"Oh, it's delicious."

The two maids smiled knowingly and sat at the table, slowly eating.

"By the way, you both could put aside the housework tomorrow. Help me get rid of the bushes outside first."

"Why are you dealing with the bushes?" The maid, Sarah, tilted her head and asked in confusion.

Swallowing the minced meat in his mouth, Morty said truthfully, "I plan to expand a few plots of land to plant more crops."

"I see." Sarah nodded and asked curiously, "What kind of plant are you planning to grow, Young Master?"

"I haven't thought about it yet." Morty shook his head. He had not studied the seeds in the cellar in detail, so he should take a look after eating them.

After a pleasant dinner, Morty patted his stomach in satisfaction and muttered to himself, "This pork tastes really good. Maybe I should go hunting in the forest when I have time. Even if it's just for occasional meat."

If he knew that there was such a good thing in the forest, why would he go to town to buy dried meat?

The two maids went to clean up the kitchen while Morty went to the cellar alone.

After lighting a candlestick, Morty went to a corner and began to check the seeds he had.

"Cabbage, squash, sunflowers, potatoes, cherries, hmm? There are even cherries?"

Morty picked up a bag of seeds and was a little surprised. He had thought that it would be some crops, but there were actually some cherries too. This was a pleasant surprise.

"It's not bad to plant some cherries to eat."

He put away the cherry seeds and took some potato seeds. Just as he was about to leave, he kicked something.

He lowered his head and saw that it was the Plant Cultivation Guide that he had casually thrown on the ground ages ago.

"It's this stupid thing again."

Morty wanted to ignore it, but then he thought about it. He had never planted cherries before. Perhaps there were records in this book.

Thinking of this, he bent down to pick up the book and left the cellar.

Back in his room, Morty opened the book and looked for the method to cultivate cherries.

"Ah, here it is. Let's see…"

According to the book, the cultivation method of cherries was not much different from other plants, and it was not too difficult.

Just as Morty was about to close the book, his fingers accidentally flipped the page backward.

"This is…"

Morty inadvertently glanced at it, and his eyes immediately froze. He stared blankly at the book in front of him, his eyes full of thoughts.

In the last few pages of the book, there was a method to make seeds!

This shocked Morty. He had thought that those seeds were ordinary seeds, but based on the contents of the book in front of him, it did not seem that easy.

"Mix the potato seeds with the yellow mud and add the Red Scaled Beast Armor Pieces... What's a Scarlet Scaled Beast?"

Morty frowned. He had never even heard of many of the creatures mentioned on the page.

His gaze continued downward and locked onto a line of words. His frown deepened.

"The potatoes cultivated in this way can grow into a potato wall that can resist attacks equivalent to B-grade magic."

Morty did not know what a B-grade spell was, but he knew that he had indeed inherited something extraordinary.

Thinking of this, he immediately buried his head in rummaging. Soon, he found a method to make pea seeds. At the bottom line, he found the content he wanted.

"After the peas are ripe, they can launch attacks. The attack power is equivalent to a C-grade spell."

As expected!

Morty's heart raced. As expected, the real secret was in the seed, not his own cultivation method!

Thinking of this, Morty immediately got up and ran to the cellar to hide the book.

No matter what, he could not let anyone else obtain this book.

He was an ordinary person with a valuable treasure. He knew very well what kind of situation he would face if this gets out.

After hiding the book, Morty returned to his room. After calming down, he formed an idea.

"No matter what, I can't let a second person know the secret of this book!"

Thinking back to how he had asked Rebecca to study the seed, Morty couldn't help but scold himself for being stupid. Fortunately, that girl hadn't come up with anything.

Thinking of Rebecca, his originally high spirits instantly fell. Morty covered his head in frustration and no longer thought about it, falling into a deep sleep.
