Chapter 36 - The Guild of Magic's Arrival

Celia then turned around and put the herbs that were drying on the ground back into the shop. She locked the door of the medicine shop before carrying the medicine box and skipping to Morty's side.

"Let's go, hero."

"Don't call me Hero." Morty hurriedly waved his hand. "Just call me Morty."

"Oh…" Celia pondered for a moment, then raised her head and her eyes squinted into a happy eye smile. "All right, Morty,"

Her delicate appearance, coupled with her innocent smile, eased Morty's mood quite a bit. He smiled and nodded.

Just as the two of them set off, a few uninvited guests came to Rebecca's inn.

These unexpected guests were wearing black cloaks. Their entire bodies were covered in cloaks, and their appearances could not be seen clearly.

"Sir, it has been confirmed. That girl is inside."

One of them said respectfully to the man in the middle.

The man in black nodded, and an old and hoarse voice came from under the cloak. "This girl has been running for half a year. It's about time she returned."

A person beside him nodded in agreement. "That's right. The Medicine Refinery Competition is about to begin. This girl should also calm down."

As they spoke, they walked into the inn.

The old man saw so many people come in at once. Although he was puzzled, he still welcomed them warmly. "Guests, are you here for dinner or to stay?"

"Old thing, don't play dumb. Tell me, where did you hide that girl?" One of the men in black said rudely.

"Girl? What are you talking about?" The old man raised his head and asked in confusion. "I don't understand."

"Stop pretending!" The man in black shouted angrily and was about to attack.

"Stop!" The leader of the black-clothed men coughed indifferently.

When the black-robed man about to attack heard this, he nodded respectfully and silently retreated.

The leader of the men in black stepped forward and lifted his cloak, revealing a face full of ravines and white hair. He grinned and said, "I'm sorry to have startled you, friend. We're here to look for a young lady named Rebecca. I know she's staying in your inn. Can you please call her out?"

As he spoke, he took out two gold coins from his pocket and handed them over.

The old man looked down and frowned. He didn't reach out to take it, but asked, "Who are you? What do you want from her?"

"Damn old man, just go and call her. Why are you talking so much nonsense!" The man behind the white-haired old man spoke rudely again.

"Silence!" The white-haired old man angrily rebuked. The black-clothed man retreated unwillingly.

The white-haired old man turned around and smiled at the inn's old man. "We're from the Guild of Magic. That girl is a member of our guild. We're here to take her back."

As he spoke, the old man stretched out his right hand. He noticed there was a ring with a complicated pattern on his middle finger.

Although the owner of the inn didn't recognize the old man, he recognized this pattern. Or rather, there was no one in Roguetown who didn't recognize this pattern.

It symbolized the Guild of Magic.

The boss's expression softened a little and he said, "She's on the second floor, but she's injured. Her companion has already gone out to buy medicine. He should be back in a while. You can wait a little longer."

"Injured? Companion?" The white-haired old man's eyes flashed with a gloomy look, but it quickly disappeared. He smiled kindly, "No need. We'll go up and bring her to the treatment room. When her companion returns, you can ask him to come to the Guild of Magic to look for us."

After saying that, the white-haired old man led his subordinates upstairs, ignoring the innkeeper's attempts to stop him. After a while, he came down with the unconscious Rebecca.

"You people…"

The inn owner wanted to stop them, but they ignored him. They quickly walked out of the door and rose into the sky. They quickly flew into the distance and disappeared.

Right at that moment, Morty brought Celia back to the inn. As soon as they entered the door, he saw the inn owner staring blankly at the door with a strange expression.

"Old man, what's wrong?"

Morty asked.

The old man came back to his senses and looked at him. His eyes were filled with shame as he sighed. "Little brother, I'm sorry. Your friend has been taken away."

"Taken away?" Morty's eyes widened, and his face became extremely gloomy. "By who?"

"The Guild of Magic." The old man told the truth.

"Guild of Magic?" Morty was stunned. He then remembered that Rebecca had said before that she was the number one genius of the Guild of Magic.

"Did they say anything?"

"No." The old man shook his head. "They only said that you can go to the Guild of Magic when you come back if you want to find her."

After saying that, he consoled him. "Little brother, don't worry. Since that girl is from the Guild of Magic, there's no need to worry about such a small injury. The mages in the guild are all powerful people. They will definitely be able to treat her."

Morty nodded silently. He turned around and smiled bitterly at Celia. "I'm sorry, Celia. I made you come here for nothing."

"It's alright." Celia quickly waved her hand. She seemed to have noticed Morty's disappointment and comforted him, "Don't worry, the people from the Guild of Magic are very powerful. Your friend will be fine."

"Yes."

Morty nodded and didn't say anything, but his heart was filled with disappointment.

In the past, he had always thought that Rebecca's so-called identity as a genius girl was just mere bragging, but he didn't expect it to be true.

Was it really possible for a genius of the Guild of Magic to be compared to an ordinary person like him?
