Nora’s face shifted into confusion when she saw the situation. I instantly stood up and murmured my apology to Tina. She looked horrified.
“I… I apologize, Mr. Sy.” – Nora muttered, turning her back from us.
I swear that was the most embarrassed I’ve ever been. The feeling of shame seeping through my system. Even when it’s not like I was guilty of doing something, still… just the mere visual of that was shameful. Tina was still stunned of what just happened. She stood up and tossed the jacket back on the couch.
“No, I apologized, Nora. That wasn’t… well, that’s not how it looked.” – I tried to reason.
“Yes, you can turn around now Nora. There’s no need for that.” – Tina said behind me
Nora turned around and then cleared her throat. Behind me, I heard footsteps going away. I knew it was Tina. I saw her through my peripheral eye. I took a quick moment to grab my jacket from the couch and wore it.
