If it weren’t because of the deadly serious look on Sir Jiego’s face, I would have taken what he just said as a joke. It’s funny, I admit. Just the mere idea of him courting me was enough for the punch line.
I sniffed, and when I looked back at him, he still have his hands crossed on the table. It’s not like I was waiting for him to break it to me. To tell me he was only pulling a prank. However, minutes passed, and he didn’t take the joke back. He was serious then. Oh God.
“I don’t know what to say, sir.” – I said
“I can’t blame you. it’s a crazy idea. Only thought it’s better than letting my lawyer handle it for me. Earlier today he told me he could get me a hired wife. He made it sound like a property we can just buy.”
“…” – I said nothing. So how did he come up with this offer? What makes this offer different from the previous one made by his lawyer?
