Veronica felt tense as they made their way through the front entrance where a butler dressed in a navy blue tuxedo bowed after opening the door.
Her eyes scanned around at the bright lights and decorations of the ballroom, admiring the grandeur of the space. The walls were adorned with intricate gold leaf designs and chandeliers hung from the high ceilings, casting a warm glow over the guests.
Everyone, including the workers, were dressed in fancy masks and elegant attires, chatting and laughing as they sipped on expensive champagne and nibbled on delicacies. Veronica felt out of place wanting to retreat before someone could ask what family she'd come from.
Her grip unconsciously tightened on Jason's arm and he noticed her discomfort.
As they made their way through the room, she observed the display of bulletproof glass cubes that held antiques and other artifacts. The walls were lined with paintings and several sculptures situated around the room.
