Vanessa blinked twice, taking another glance at the woman who wore a wide smile. If Jason's father was a member of the Timberlake family but he referred to this woman as grandma, that meant that his mother was from the Brandon family!
"Jay Jay, I'm glad you ended up coming", her gaze shifted to Diane. "Your mother...", her eye shifted to the strange woman beside Jason and she decided to rephrase her words. "Had to catch a flight".
Veronica gulped at the feel of the old woman's analytic eyes scanning down her body. "My my", Mrs. Brandon began, "You've come with a lady? I knew you've been secretly seeing someone". Her voice was cheerful and she struggled to get up on both feet while Jason unwillingly supported her to stand. He'd already started regretting bringing Veronica in the first place since his mother was nowhere to be seen which defeated the whole purpose of his showing up with a woman in public to show that he'd been serious.
