After Marco demonstrated his powerful ability, the captains were left questioning the validity of his claim that his power came from a comic book.
They found it difficult to believe that the source of such incredible power could be something as simple as a comic. However, they also considered the possibility that the comic might possess a unique quality that granted its characters god-like abilities.
"Wait a minute!!" exclaimed Vista, the fifth division captain. "The flame of the Demon Phoenix on the cover of this comic isn't orange? It's the same color as Marco's flames!"
"Look, brothers! In the form of the demon phoenix in this comic, he has flame wings on his back." pointed out by the fifteenth division captain, Fossa.
As everyone compared the image of the Demon Phoenix on the comic's cover with Marco's current form, they were shocked to see that the two were nearly identical. With no doubts remaining, they fully believed Marco's claim.
Blamenco, the sixth division captain exclaimed, "So there really is a world inside the comics where you can obtain abilities? That's incredible, isn't it?"
Curiel, the tenth division captain asked Marco eagerly, "Did you really say we have the opportunity to obtain such an ability?"
Haruta, the captain of the twelfth division, approached and asked, "Can we also gain abilities by entering the world of this comic book in your hands?"
Looking at the "The Phenex Clan of Highschool DxD" he was holding, Marco smiled and shook his head, saying that it was impossible for them to enter the comic book world and gain abilities from it.
He knew that the ability he gained was to activate the phoenix bloodline, which he could only do because of his Bird-Bird Fruit Model Phoenix. When he activated the phoenix bloodline, he could even hear the voice of the demon god phoenix in his mind.
Since the other captains of the Whitebeard Pirate have no connection to the Phoenix, it would be impossible for them to activate any bloodline without it.
Upon hearing Marco's explanation, the other Whitebeard Pirate captains were disheartened as it became clear that they don't have the necessary means to activate the bloodline of the phoenix.
"Oh, I guess it was too good to be true for us to have such a miraculous ability."
"Man, I'm so envious. It's a shame we can't have it."
"Marco, you trickster. We thought we could actually get this ability, but I guess it was just a joke."
"I think we should play a prank on Marco in retaliation."
"Sounds like a good idea."
"I'm in!"
The captains of each squad became excited and started to discuss their plan. Marco played along and acted scared.
Marco addressed the captains, asking them to listen to him until he finishes speaking.
Marco chuckled and said, "Alright, I'm not kidding anymore. Even though you can't obtain abilities from this comic book in my hand, there are plenty of other comics out there from which you can gain abilities. Let's not hide it, there are many more comics out there with magical abilities like this one. Jozu and I have already gained abilities from comics, and we can assure you that it's true."
After a moment of stunned silence, Vista spoke up, "Marco, what you said… is it true?" to which Marco and Jozu affirmed that it was indeed true. Jozu even showed his own copy of the "Might Guy 'The Leaf's Noble Green Beast' Biography" to prove it.
The captains became very enthusiastic at the thought of obtaining a powerful ability similar to the Phoenix Flame and immediately urged Marco and Jozu to take them to the place where they found the magical comic books.
They expressed their gratitude and promised to remember this favor forever.
Marco cleared his throat and corrected the captains' gratitude, saying, "Ahem, brothers, you have misunderstood. It is not me you should thank, but Majima!" He felt embarrassed by the praise.
Jozu also blushed and added, "Yes, you should thank our captain, Brother Majima!"
