Chapter 1 - Execution

A body of a man that laid lifelessly in a dungeon suddenly sprung up, he sucked in a deep breath before he screamed from the gruesome pain he felt in his head. He felt like his head was being banged repeatedly on the hard stony ground of the dungeon, he couldn't help but shrieked.

After the pain had relieved him a bit, he realized he was in a strange room, the room was dark, gloomy and reeked of a foul odour.

Has he been held captive by the invaders? No, he could swore that he had been killed by the race that invaded his planet. His name was Kasper Gelt and he was a very powerful sorcerer, he remembered his death vividly, he had led an army of sorcerers to battle against the alien race, but he had lost and was held captive before he was tortured and killed slowly and gruesomely by the alien race.

The memory of his death sent deep shivers down his spine, he was covered in cold sweat. The experience of death was not pleasant at all, but.....how come he was alive? He took a look at his body and he realized the body was not his, what manner of sorcery is this?

Has he transmigrated in to the body of another person? No, it wasn't logical at all, he had heard about reincarnation and rebirth but this wasn't how it was said to happen, he was supposed to have memories of the original owner of this body but he couldn't remember anything. He tried hard to find the memories in his mind but it seemed like it was shrouded by some sort of spiritual mist, he was unable to dabble in to the memories of the original owner of the body, he doesn't even know the name of this body.

Did the alien race resurrect him from the dead into another body to be tortured to death again? He shivered, he would rather killed himself before they tortured him to death. This was another possible outcome, the alien race seemed capable of anything.

He immediately staggered to his feet and started to search for any clue he could use, the dungeon was dark so he couldn't see. He didn't realised there was another body in the dungeon, he tripped on the body and fell heavily to the ground.

He grunted in pain, he had broke his right feet ankle. The body he tripped on made a whimpering sound, he quickly dragged the body closer to had a closer look, it was the body of a man. The man suddenly freed itself from Kasper's grasp and sprawled away to the corner of the dungeon. Kasper noticed the man was very frightened.

"I meant you no harm, have you been resurrected in to the body of another person too?" Kasper asked softly while he moved closer to the man.

"You should have stayed dead Lord Alfred," the man said frighteningly. He moved away from Kasper.

"Lord Alfred? And what do you mean by I should've stayed dead." Kasper was confused, it seemed like the man recognized the owner of the body he had been transmigrated to. The original owner of the body must've been an influential man before his death.

Lord Alfred! You're a ghost!" The man cried frighteningly. About three hours ago, he had killed Alfred himself by strangling him to death. He had did Alfred a favour by killing him before he was executed by the king's executioners. He was sure of it, Alfred had stopped breathing and his heart had stopped beating. How was he able to rise again? The only logical explanation for the man was that Alfred had became a vengeful ghost to haunt him. He was a servant of Alfred before he was arrested and held captive together with his Lord. He believed he had grant his Lord an easy death by strangling him till Alfred lost his life, the pain of being strangled to death paled in comparison to the pain of execution that awaited them both.

"Relax.... I won't hurt you, can you please explain what's going on here? Kasper was utterly confused. Yes! He knew he had been in another person's body but he was surprised the man knew the real owner of the body. Maybe he could find some answers from this man. Unfortunately for Kasper, the man has not had a chance to answer his question when two men clad in guards armor came inside the dungeon and dragged him and the man away.

Kasper was a little bit relieved when he saw that the guards were not aliens that invaded his planet, they were men. If the aliens were not responsible for his resurrection, then who are the ones responsible for it? Kasper was still confused, he was taken away from the dungeon and was dragged violently outside the building he was in.

No! It was no ordinary building, the walls of the building resembled that of a castle.

He realized he had transmigrated into the body of another person in a different time. The atmosphere and the building, the guards and the way the people he saw in the Castle dressed like that of the medieval era. Had he been transmigrated Into the past?

What was he doing in a castle? Why was Alfred kept a prisoner?

Kasper was trying hard to connect the dots to come out with a logical reasoning.

The guards fastened Kasper's feet to a rope which was being tied to a horse, the same was done for the servant. The two were dragged by the horses to a different location. Being dragged by the horses on bare floor was a cruel punishment for them both, they sustained serious injuries.

At the place of execution, a large crowd was there and they were shouting with rage. Kasper managed to hear some words from the loud noise, he immediately knew Alfred was on a death sentence and was set to be executed.

Kasper lamented bitterly, he cursed himself for his misfortune. He had been rebirth into the body of someone that was set to be executed, he doesn't even know the crime the person had committed. How unlucky was he?

The guards dragged Kasper and the man onto the scaffold in front of the crowd, they both faced the crowd with their hands tied behind them. The angry crowd threw stones and other hard objects at them while roaring and demanding that they be executed.

Was he going to die just like that? Kasper started to think of something fast, he would not be executed with trying every possible means to escape but what could he do? His hands has been tied. Wait.... Kasper quickly noticed something, the mana of this planet was very rich and dense, Kasper's planet did not have such density of mana. Kasper swore that he could achieve the impossible with such rich mana, even the air rippled with strong energy and vitality. For Kasper that had lived in a planet that had low mana density, this place was a heaven for him. Unfortunately, he would be executed very soon.

Kasper was still in deep thoughts of the abundant mana that rippled everywhere when the people suddenly stopped shouting and roaring. Kasper looked up, he saw a man standing on a podium about fifty metres away to his right. The man was dressed in a leather cloak and tunic, he also had a golden crown on his head. This was the king, his presence had made everyone to stop roaring, nobody dared to breath too loudly, he was greatly feared among his people.

"Alfred Elrod! You have been tried and found guilty of treason against the royal family, by the order of the king you will be executed together with your servant." A chief judge announced.

"Found guilty of treason? So that's it," Kasper finally realized what Alfred had done, but the original Alfred was dead, how would he explain to them that he was another person, they would not even care about that. Even though it seemed impossible, he had to find a way to escape.

Two guards grabbed the servant and tied a rope around his neck, he would be hanged. The servant was placed on a trap door, he trembled violently as he was on the verge of death. The trap door was suddenly released and he fell until he was stopped by the rope tied around his neck. He struggled fiercely trying to break free but it was in vain, his breathing faded and his neck would soon be broken. When he was about to breathe his last breath, the rope was cut and he fell heavily to the ground. He inhaled a large amount of air but he wished he had died, this was only the first step in his execution, his real execution would be by quartering.

The servant was dragged to the middle of four horses, he tried to escape but he caught by the guards and was beaten almost to the point of death. Each feet and arm of the servant was them fastened to four different chains that were tied to the four horses.

Kasper saw all this, he had initially thought the servant would be executed by hanging but was surprised when the rope around his neck was cut.

Kasper saw how the servant's limbs were fastened to four different chains that was tied to four different horses. Immediately, something clicked in his mind and he trembled with fear.

"What a gruesome execution." He exclaimed fearfully
