Kasper was frustrated, he had really been unlucky since he was transmigrated to this body, he was almost killed, he was the most wanted man and now he encountered someone that could peep into the people's soul and tell their deepest secrets. He wanted to kill the friendly man straight away but he couldn't do that here at the library, that was why he marked him with a flame rune. If he triggered the spell of the rune, the friendly man would be burnt into nothingness.
After the burning sensation stopped, the friendly man frighteningly checked hi s chest, he was shocked to see a rune on his chest. The rune had the shape of a flame, he attempted to get rid of it but he stopped when he felt a burning sensation all over his body.
"Don't attempt to get rid of it, and don't even think of escaping. If you do, I'll trigger the spell for that rune and you'll be burnt into nothing." Kasper said.
Upon hearing Kasper's warning, the young man trembled with fear. His life is basically in Kasper's hands, he dared not make any rash actions.
"Now we'll walk out of here as if nothing happened."
"Alright, alright," the friendly man nodded like an obedient servant.
"You go first," Kasper said.
"Where are we headed?" The friendly man asked. Kasper thought of where they could go, the house he spent the night is out of options, who knows the owner might be around now. He still had some hours left before his art of deception would be worn out, once it's worn out, he would not be able to use it until the next day.
"Take us to a pub," Kasper said.
The friendly man led Kasper out of the library and brought him to the nearest pub. He acted as if nothing happened, he even greeted his friends along the way in the most friendly manner. There seemed to be nothing wrong with him, Kasper marvelled at his pretentious ability.
The two sat by a table, few moments later, Kasper started to interrogate the friendly man.
"What's your name." Kasper needed to know his name first.
"Martel Bradburn,"
"Hmmm, now tell me everything you see,Martel." Kasper was eager to know more about this Martel Bradburn, his special innate ability could be of use in the future. He was deliberating on whether he should give him pointers or not, but he decided he would do that later. For now, he needed to know some things about him. Kasper himself had to cultivate soul protection arts, if he didn't, his soul would be vulnerable to attacks. It was the lack of soul protection art he lacked that enabled Martel to peek into his soul. If he had cultivated a powerful soul protection art, Martel would've not been able to peek at his soul.
"I saw things I wasn't supposed to see," Martel broke out in a cold sweat when he recalled what he had seen when he peeked in to Kasper's soul. He could swore that those were the most terrifying things he had ever seen. Although he looked calm on the outside, he was really panicking inside, he was afraid Kasper might activate the flame rune anytime. He felt like a sword was being placed on his neck. When Kasper caught him red handed, he wanted to deny it but when his eyes made contact with Kasper's eye, he felt like the latter could see right through him. He dared not lie.
"I saw terrifying things, I saw bloody wars, pain, anguish, despair. Words can't describe how horrible they are."
"Is that all," Kasper asked with a cold gaze.
"I also saw death, twice, the death of Alfred and your death." Martel was very scared of Kasper, he quickly replied.
"You've seen too much, I will have to kill you." Kasper was surprised at how much of his secrets Martel had seen in just a split second.
"Pls don't kill me, i won't tell anyone, I swear on my life." Martel was panicking.
"Are there others like you? Did someone sent you?" Kasper asked. He had to be sure that he wasn't being watched.
"No, no, no one sent me," Martel quickly replied.
"Hmmm, If I realize you lying to me, you're doomed!"
"I'm not lying," pls do not harm me.
"You're safe for now, I could still need your help. Now order for some drinks," Kasper told Martel.
Martel was a bit relieved, he quickly ordered for two mugs of strong wine.
Kasper took a sip of the wine, "it's a good wine, just not strong enough." Wines from his original world are much more stronger than the one he had just tasted.
"I need a place to cultivate," Kasper told Martel.
"You can do that at my place," he then led Kasper to his house.
Martel was living in a small bungalow, he wasn't married yet, he was just a young handsome man of twenty five years old.
"You're staying alone?" Kasper asked him. Martel replied with a positive nod.
After the two had settled inside of Martel house, Kasper found a small space in the living room, he sat there and started to cultivate. He deactivated the art of deception and Alfred's physique and face was restored.
Martel watched him in awe. "How was he able to do that?" He asked himself.
"When I used the fire element, everybody seemed to be enraged, why?"
Kasper was curious.
"The fire element is forbidden, it's an abomination to practice it."
"Why is it forbidden?" Kasper asked again.
"It's considered a soul devouring element, aside that, the element is too destructive. Nobody is allowed to practice it. Any body caught practicing it will be executed without trial." Martel explained.
"Hmmmm" Kasper had just understood.
"The transmigration, how does it work?" Martel asked.
"It's beyond my reasoning." Kasper answered, he knew one or two about it but he doesn't want Martel to know too much.
"Is Alfred dead or his soul is passed into your body too?"
"Enough with the questions for now!" Kasper wasn't interested in answering questions anymore.
Now that Martel asked him that, he wondered if Alfred's soul was truly passed to his own body, if that happened, it wouldn't be transmigration. But he shoved the thought to the back of his mind, he had never heard of something like that. What he needed right now was to achieve breakthrough into the next tier, he was already at the basic tier. A basic tier mage can only cast limited spells, he needed to ascend the tiers as fast as possible.
Martel still had a lot of questions going on in his mind but he saved them for later. He sat on a chair and watched Kasper as he cultivated.
"He doesn't need magic wands to cast magic, he also could disguise as another person. These things are not possible here in Nolmar." Martel thought. He had always heard from his grandfather that there was another world out their in the vast universe, his encounter with Kasper had just confirmed it.
"Whatever journey lies ahead of him, I will to be part of it." He said resolutely.
Kasper was basking himself in the abundant mana of this planet, his cultivation was rapidly improving. He had spent some hours on cultivating and he had reached a critical stage to achieve breakthrough into the intermediate tier, he just to concentrate more. He needed to calm his state of mind.
Martel noticed Kasper was at a critical stage, although he wasn't a mage, he knew quite a lot of things about mages. He noticed that the aura around Kasper was raging turbulently, he immediately brought out his harp, he started to play a tune that would soothe the mind of a mage. He often did this to help his grandfather who was a mage, the harp was not an ordinary musical instrument, It was enchanted with spells, the soothing tune combined with the spells always helped a mage in cultivation.
When Kasper heard the soothing tune from the harp, his mind was immediately calmed, after a few minutes he smoothly achieved the breakthrough. Now that he had achieved the intermediate tier, he could start to store mana in his spiritual mana world, now he doesn't need to worry about mana exhaustion. He started to gather the mana from the surroundings, he filtered it and infused it into his spiritual world. He did this for about two hours, he opened his eyes and stood up, he has gathered enough mana that would last him for three days if he fought non stop.
His aura has now changed, even the frail appearance of Alfred's body was now better. The bruises were fully healed, the gaped wound on his collarbone would be fully healed in about a week. These were the benefits of ascending the tiers of magic, the higher you ascend the better your appearance and vitality.
