Chapter 6 - Alfred's Daughter

"Your look has improved," Martel noticed the changes in Kasper's appearance.

"Yeah," Kasper nodded. "

"Your cultivation technique is vastly different from that of the mages here." Martel said to Kasper.

"The magic and cultivation techniques of this planet is primitive," Kasper told Martel.

"Hmmmm," Martel nodded.

"I need to know some things about this place," Kasper was curious to know about Nolmar.

"There are a lot of things you need to know, it's only by adventuring this planet that you'll understand these things." Martel said to Kasper. The latter thought about it, but he wasn't ready yet for adventuring this place, all he needed right now was to escape from this city, the bounty on his head made him feel like a dagger was placed in his throat and he could be cut down anytime. After he'd escape, he would then try to find out the reason he was here, he didn't believe he was here by stroke of luck or accident. But first, he needed to flee from this city, he wasn't powerful enough to take on them.

"Since you look much like us, then you should have what we've got here in your planet too," Martel said. Kasper nodded in agreement, aside from the crude magic, Nolmar, had everything his planet had too, there wasn't much difference. It seemed like both universes are parallel.

"Your harp, where did you get it from?" Kasper was curious of the harps enchanted tunes.

"It's a magical artifact, crafted by an elf, the finest luthier Nolmar has ever seen." Martel was proud that he was the owner of such historical artifact, he brought it out and caressed the strings with his fingers.

"An elf?" Kasper had only heard of elves in fairy tales when he was still very young. "There are elves here on this planet?" He asked Martel.

"You don't have elves in your place? Tell me, how many races lived in your world," Martel was surprised that Kasper has never heard of elves.

"Races? We've got only the human race," except the alien race that invaded his planet, it was only the human race that his planet had.

"Well.... we've got quite a few races here, we've got the elves, the dwarves, hobbits, goblins, centaurs, orcs, ogres, cyclops and more unknown races." Martel said.

"So many races," Kasper was astounded.

"There's the Vampire race and the Dragon race too, these two considered themselves gods to the rest of the races."

"You mean, Vampires like, blood sucking monsters? Dragons..... I've seen dragons." The alien race that invaded Kasper's planet used dragons as mounts, this proved the might abilities of this alien race, using creatures that were considered as gods for mounts, it's crazy. But vampires, to Kasper, they were a myth.

"Yeah, Vampires are the race we humans dread the most." They looked pretty much like us, except that they had fangs for feasting on blood. They're much more stronger and faster than us humans." Martel explained.

"How do you live in harmony with this races?" Kasper was wondering how it was possible, after all, some of these races does feast on the other races."

"There's no harmony," Martel shook his head. "We stay in different continents, humans only have contact with elves, dwarves and hobbits," Martel explained.

"This planet must be really vast," Kasper said. He only heard of these creatures, and they were a myth in his planet. He was astounded when he was told all these creatures are here right in Nolmar.

"I told you, you'll only know more about this place when you see for yourself. Unfortunately, some places are forbidden for humans." Martel said while he sipped coffee from a mug.

"What places?" Kasper was curious.

"Dragon's land and Vampire's land, no matter what, never step in to this lands, Lest you die," Martel warned.

"Hmmmm," Kasper nodded. Nolmar seemed to be too dangerous and mysterious, he needed a native by his side all the time and he's got one. Right now he needed to abscond this city as fast as he could, before his secret would be discovered.

"How do I get out of this city?" He asked Martel.

"Uhhhh, that should be no problem, but...." Martel was hesitating to say something.

"But what?"

"There is something you should know," Martel said.

"What is that?"

"Aside from other races, there are monsters and dark creatures roaming this planet, that's why every city has high walls," Martel explained. Kasper finally understood why the city was surrounded by high walls. The walls were built like the great walls of China, it was enormous and high with guards stationed on it. This wall was why it was difficult for Kasper to escape the city.

"I see, there are monsters in my planet too but we don't need walls to keep them off from cities, safe zones were created. Monsters can't infiltrate any city that has been safe zoned." Kasper said.

"That's cool,"

"Is there any other thing I should know?" Kasper asked Martel.

"Nothing of real importance, I'll explain things you don't know later on,"

"You're coming with me?"

"Yes, I've seen your past when I peeked into your soul, there's a lot you can achieve here in Nolmar, and whatever the future holds for you, I want to be part of it." Martel said with resolve.

"Hmmmm," Kasper thought about it, even though he had yet to trust Martel, he could use his help and knowledge.

"And you're willing to leave everything behind and follow a wanted man? You'll take that risk?" Kasper asked.

"I have nothing here, I'm just a harpist that plays to make a living, no family here." Martel explained. Kasper only nodded, he said nothing more.

"You should know this too, and you must do something about it," Martel had something important to tell Kasper.

"I'm all ears."

"Alfred has a daughter," Martel said." When Kasper heard the words, he was immediately overwhelmed with the feeling of responsibility. Even though he wasn't the real father of the daughter, Alfred's body was his vessel and Alfred was no more, so he was overwhelmed with feeling of responsibility for the girl.

"Where is she?" Kasper asked. He wondered how the girl would be treated when it was discovered that his father was a treasonous person, life would definitely be difficult for her.

"That's the main problem, it was announced that by this time tomorrow evening, she would be executed if you do not show up." Kasper was shocked by the news.
