Suddenly, the angels of death laid down on the floor of the cabin and they became two white snakes, longer than the cabin itself. Lucus knew that after this war, the cabin would not stand but that didn't freak him, he had built it in the first place and he still had the strength to build it again. What mattered most now was the life of his beloved wife.
"We are giving you another chance to reconsider your decision," the two serpents roared.
"Not in your next life. Come get what you seek or are the angels of death afraid of death itself?
"How dare you," the angel of death roared.
Whatever Lucus just said was just to boost his self-confidence. These were the angels of death standing right before him and he was only a mortal. He was not powerful enough to fight against them but one thing was sure, he was powerful enough to protect himself from them.
Twisting his hands in a fixed partner, he muttered the ancient spell that protected humans from the spirit of death, and a whirlwind encircled him.
From within the whirlwind, he could see the angels of death trying to destroy his defense but he knew they could not. The spell which he just cast was from the book of the dreadful God himself. He was safe in there but only for a short time, he had to come up with something better or the angels of death would find a way around it shield. But what was he going to come up with? None of his spells would affect these immortals except The spell of self-defense.
Then an idea struck him, he could make a portal and lead them into it, he would send them back to where they belong. But will he have enough time to make a portal? Will the angels of death just fold their hands and watch him go through the portal-making rituals? He had to come up with something else, a plan B.
Then he stopped hearing the banging sounds of the angels trying to break the seal. They had given up and decided to do something else. But why so soon? Lucus could not take Chances, he knew these immortals were up to something. At his will, his eyes began to glow and his vision penetrated the barrier before him. He saw the serpent encircling Victoria.
"No," he yelled. Then he stretched his hands forward. The green stones glowed brighter and a bright green glow emitted from Victoria's soul.
The glow ripped the angels of Victoria's body and they screamed in pain. As Lucus looked forward, they were no longer there. "They are finally gone," he sighed. He knew this was not a true battle, it was only a war of defense. Soon, he will master the art of the sun god and he will be able to wrestle with immortals.
He sighed again and the whirlwind that had formed around him vanished. Now he had to find a way to unite Victoria's soul with her body.
As he attempted to step out of the sacred circle, he felt a strange presence around him. "What next," he thought.
With his sorcerer's eye, he scanned through the room for any invisible being but he found none. "Maybe I am being too alarmed," he said to himself.
But this was far from the truth. He heard a strange tap under him and his spirit eye met a strange sight. It was one of the serpents right under one of the sacred stones. He tried to attack the snake with a counter spell that would magically seal the floor from the rest of the world but he was too late.
The serpent sprung up from its hiding position, flinging the sacred stones away as far as it could. Lucus sobbed inwardly. There was nothing he could do to save Victoria now, he had lost. But where was the other Angel of death?
Just then, he felt a strange tap from behind. As he turned around, his eyes met with the fiery eyes of the second serpent. He was done for. With the wind of darkness, the serpent blew the sorcerer away. Lucus back met with the hard wall of the cabin and the whole place collapsed. He spat out blood from his mouth and fainted under the scattered pieces of the cabin...
............
After what seemed like forever, Lucus opened his eyes slowly. He was no longer under the pieces of the cabin and before him stood the two Angel of death and Victoria's spirit.
"Kill me, end my life," Lucus sobbed.
"We won't mortal, your daughter needs you now," the angels replied.
"If you are doing this for Anna then end my life together with hers. This world is not for us, we have always been treated cruelly."
"This is not only for your daughter Lucus, the world will need you more than ever. That is the major reason you are still alive."
"The world? nineteen years ago I had always stood up for truth and Justice but look where it got me. The world should go into extinction, I don't freaking care."
"You will care when the time comes."
The angels of death turned over to Victoria's soul for a few minutes and she turned over to Lucus. "Lucus," she said. "No matter what you are going through, always remember that we are in it together. And remember, a situation will come when you will be tempted to do what you did today but you must remember to control your emotions. Or you will destroy the world you will be trying to protect," Victoria said and she started ascending into the air with the angels. "Take care of my baby Lucus," she muttered.
"No," Lucus screamed after them. "You have not told me where her body is, at least she should be honored."
But there was no answer to his questions. The angels of death were gone with his beloved. Now, he was left only with Anna.
Towards the north of the cabin, Lucus saw Victoria's body lying on the green grass. He journeyed slowly to it and knelt beside it, pouring out his heart in tears.
"My Victoria," he sobbed. " You will always be engraved in my heart."
As he sobbed, he heard the echoes of her last words. " And remember, a situation will come when you will be tempted to do what you did today but you must remember to control your emotions. Or you will destroy the world you will be trying to protect."
"What is this supposed to mean," he thought as tears flowed freely from his eyes.
