Anna screamed in such a way that the beast roared, slapping its tail on the water. It didn't like it, Anna got the message immediately. Anna thought fast, she had to distract the beast and give her father enough time to come up with something. She had to cast a spell.
Anna went down memory lane, searching her heart for a possible spell she stole from her dad's book of spells. She was banned from going near the book but her curiosity was always getting a better part of her.
Then, she remembered something. Something that still made her smile no matter the situation she found herself in. It was this act that actually made her father ban her from going close to his spell book. "It's too dangerous for you and spell casting isn't for women," he used to say and Victoria would shoot a what is that supposed to mean look at him.
She was cooking a meal and wanted it to have the best scent ever as it was her dad's birthday. So, she scanned through her father's spell book for what she needed. However, she twisted some lines of the spell and she ended up giving the stew the worst smell ever. It was a terrible experience. After scolding her, her dad told her the details of the spell she made and warned her never to come near his spell book ever. It was a spell called shirkum, meant only for outcasts. It had a bad odor that twisted the nose of the targeted beast and in most cases, the beast always runs away except it had some magical ability.
This was the spell Anna decided to use for this beast but one thing she did not know was that magic did not work against the beast except in rear cases. It only attracted it to its user. Anna stood a deep breath and drew a sign on the sand With her index finger. She was not a great sorcerer so, she had to align with a greater power, that was her father and she knew the lines. They were the first word she learned from his magic book.
Anna stepped into the circle and started muttering the spell. "No, don't Anna," she could hear her father saying but she was already into what she was doing, there was no going back now. When she had from the spell, she released the bright light that represented it but nothing happened.
A few minutes later, the beast roared, dropping her life-drained father into the river. Anna was frightened, she hoped her father still had enough strength to swim or all her efforts would be in vain. Then she saw her father pull himself to the surface of the water, he was okay.
"Yes, it worked," she exclaimed. "Or did it," she returned. The beast threw its stretchy tongue against her and she ran as fast as her legs could carry her. Nothing worked, she only brought the beast's attention to herself. At least, her father was okay.
Anna aimed to run into the woods, that was the only place that was safe for her, where the beast's tongue would never be able to penetrate. Then, something caught her leg and she fell. She tried to get up but she discovered that her limb was broken. She could not get up, she was trapped.
Anna swallowed hard. Her eyes caught the part of the vicious beast advancing speedily towards her. A tear escaped from her eyes. Meanwhile, Lucus had gotten to land and he watched as the beast's dreadful tongue got closer to Anna, ready to devour her. The only way to defeat the beast was to lure it to land but that was almost impossible. The only thing that would have made that possible was magic but it didn't affect this beast.
With his hands clasped, Lucus pray shortly. "Dear god, please help me to save my daughter, I won't forgive myself if anything happens to her.
As Lucus prayed, he felt a strange warm sensation on his shoulders. As a sorcerer, he recognized it immediately. It was the ray of the sun god and it carried potential consequences. It was a magical ray and he had to utilize it as soon as he can. Lucus sat down in a yoga style and clasped his hand. He did not know much about the beast's immortal ability and he could not take chances, he would bring it to land with the power of the sun God and destabilize it.
With his hand clasped, Lucus aligns with the power of the sun god and casts a storm spell. A storm began to encircle the dark beast until it was fully covered and Lucus ordered it to land as white sparkles emitted from his mouth. A few minutes later, it was all over. The ray of the sun god was gone and the ugly beast lay on land powerless and harmless. It had been defeated.
Anna limped over to her father and embrace him tightly. "I don't know what I would have done without you," Anna whispered into his ears, her eyes filled with tears and gratitude.
"I love you, Anna, more than everything in the world," Lucus returned.
"I love you too Daddy," Anna sobbed.
Just then, a blinding light shone from the position where the monster lay. When the light had died down, the beast was no longer there but something else. It was covered with slime and Lucus could not see it. Lucus raced to where the strange being was, while Anna followed shortly from behind. "It is a boy," Anna exclaimed, as she caught up with her father.
"Get me water," Lucus ordered.
Anna limped to the river and got water from a bowl that lay lonely on the floor. "Here it is father," Anna said handing over the water to her father.
"Thank you," Lucus appreciated.
He collected the water from her and washed the slim off the boy's body. He was a naked handsome boy about Anna's age. "Who is he?" Anna inquired.
"Quite Anna," he is opening his eyes. "Slowly, the handsome boy opened his beautiful blue eyes and stared at Lucus and Anna strangely. "Who are you," he inquired with fluent morgablka but Lucus could not detect his accent. There was no trace of any in his voice.
"The question is who are you?" Lucus returned.
THE STORY JUST BEGAN.
