From the bedroom, he could see the dark figure standing close to the sofa. Han Fei could vaguely see that it was the silhouette of a person. It was squatting on the floor, with its head hanging low.
Han Fei decided to kneel on his bed with a shivering cold body. His back was still draped with that somewhat moldy big red quilt.
"I would have been mentally ready if I had known that this was a battle game or a game of solving a mystery. However, the issue is that the doctor and all of the online information claim that this is a therapeutic game. Who the heck knew that while playing a therapeutic game, you would be running for your life!" He fixed his unwavering gaze on the bedroom door. After a little pause, his mind began to race fast.
What's done is done. It was useless to ponder why he couldn't quit the game instantly. He had to abide by the rules!
Two requirements must be met to exit the game: first, it must last longer than three hours, and second, at least one mission must be completed. "I've already finished setting up the fuse at the grandmother's house. I distinctly recall seeing the clock on the wall say it was midnight when I first entered the game and opened my eyes. It was 2:44 a.m. when I last glanced at my watch. I only need to survive and thrive for the next sixteen minutes to leave this place."
Han Fei's mind has never been this clearer. He fixed his attention on the entrance to the bedroom. His five fingers firmly held the kitchen knife as his muscles stiffened.
"While turning off the lights, I looked around the home. The living room was empty. In such a little house, there is nowhere else to hide. There was just one locked guest bedroom. What in the world is this? Why would it do that in the middle of the night while I'm in my bedroom?"
The main concern was whether Han Fei would survive the required sixteen minutes. Things are now getting worse. The kitchen knife in his hand may or may not be beneficial. Grabbing something sharp was just a physical instinct to ease his tension. He was fooling himself that he was safe with the knife for psychological comfort.
A person is sound asleep when they abruptly open their eyes in the middle of the night to discover someone squatting next to the sofa in the living room. The figure appeared at the bedroom door as they were about to open their eyes again.
Your scalp tingles merely imagining this scene. Calm down a bit! You must remain composed!
Han Fei was very shocked by the fact that he couldn't quit the game. He has not yet fully recovered from the shock then suddenly he felt an abrupt wave of terror.
"According to the old fella, there has been an incident at this residence, making it dangerous. It should be the man crouching on the ground. The other building tenants did not move here. It implies that the monster will never leave this place. I should be safe for the time being if I just run out of this house."
Han Fei saw the indistinct figure squatting at the bedroom doorway, thinking to himself, "Easy to say, hard to do." I lack the confidence to take a closer look at it.
"No! The problem is still not at its worst! It is not coming inside the bedroom but it is blocking the bedroom door. The remaining sixteen minutes are all I need to spend here. I will stop playing the game right away. I'll simply run out of the bedroom if it moves inside."
I have never before seen something like this.
The wall clock caught his attention as his gaze slowly traveled in that direction. However, a bone-chilling feeling overcame him before he could check the clock!
Han Fei's pupils shrunk as he turned back to face the bedroom door. The man who was squatting on the ground had vanished.
Han Fei may have noticed the man's wretched white and ghostly face if he had simply turned on the light!
Han Fei made the proper choice this time. He didn't make the stupid move of running to turn on the lights or to remain where he was. He made no attempt to locate the thing in the room. He immediately sprang out of bed and hurriedly raced for the main door to get out of the house!
He was aware that the ghost had moved inside the bedroom. Staying here for another second is like wishing for death. It is best to run and escape rather than take a chance and analyze the creature.
He thought he had never run so quickly in his entire life.
He hurried to the door and speedily pushed it open. Han Fei feared the other person would leave the house after him when the door was slammed shut.
The movements made the sensor-controlled lights in the hallway light up. Han Fei did not dare to look back as the dim light shined into the house.
Just as he was about to approach the stairs he heard a frightening noise coming from inside the home as if someone was scratching the door with their nails. He paused for a while to cast a quick peek in the direction of the house.
"That thing wants to come out?"
Han Fei grabbed the kitchen knife and dashed towards the stairs, not daring to stay. He was aware that the old granny was creepy, but they posed less of a threat to him than the mystery creature.
Han Fei arrived on the third floor and was greeted with the familiar fragrance of beef. The door to the elderly man's residence was just partly open when he arrived. A few black bags had been dumped against the door, but they weren't the same as the ones he'd earlier seen in the refrigerator.
He took a few steps back and collided with the door of another residence on the third floor. A fractured mirror dropped from the top of the door and nearly hit him.
Turning his head, Han Fei noticed that the entrance frame of this residence was heavily covered with talismans, making it appear quite sinister.
Is there not a single normal person in the entire building?
Han Fei's muscles tightened one after another. All of the corridor's motion-activated lights abruptly turned off. No matter how he moved, it appeared that the lights had stopped working and would not switch back on.
Han Fei heard the sound of the room door gently opening in complete silence. In the darkness, something was getting closer to him.
He could feel his heart racing. Han Fei made a mad dash for the stairs. In the shadows, he sensed something chasing him.
Han Fei quickly navigated his way to the ground floor while gritting his teeth. It was not until after that that he realized the door was locked and he was unable to escape the building.
Han Fei swung his arm, slashed at the lock with his kitchen knife, and eventually, the shadows encircled him. Something loomed behind him.
Han Fei frantically chopped just at door lock like a lunatic, his neck slowly being choked. However, the attribute panel was the focus of his complete attention.
Han Fei could no longer handle the kitchen knife as dizziness swept over his body.
The grayish escape button eventually lit up as he was ready to lose consciousness. Three hours had passed already.
"Quit!"
Boom!
The world around him was spinning, there was a loud noise at the back of his head, and a piercing pain was coming from deep inside his head.
Han Fei endured the pain and pulled the gaming headset off his head with both hands, slamming it hard to the table as soon as he recovered control of his body.
The morning had arrived, and the clock read 3:01 a.m.
Even though Han Fei entered the game at midnight, it was already early in the morning when he quit it.
Han Fei was exhausted from head to toe, and he was still experiencing a strange sense of absurdity as if he were still trapped in the game.
"Player No. 0000, Please pay attention! You have accomplished your first task in the Beginners Level of Perfect Life. Please speed up your exploration progress!"
Within his thoughts, a chilly robotic voice could be heard. Hearing this voice, Han Fei was rendered motionless. He was sure he had removed his gaming headset. He must be hearing that voice within his brain.
"How is that possible?"
"Player No. 0000, please pay attention! You have completed the first task. Please resume the game within 24 hours!"
"Why is there this voice in my head?" Han Fei touched the back of his head where the pain was constantly emitting and picked up that heavy gaming headset again, and only then did he see that the inside of the headset was full of blood.
Has something transmitted in his body through his head? Is something implanted in his brain?
"I assume this is a murder attempt." Han Fei prepared to call the police and pulled out his cell phone. However, the voice in his brain returned when he considered contacting the police.
"Player No. 0000, please pay attention! Please do not disclose the game information, otherwise, the black box will explode in your brain, making sure you are braindead in 0.01 seconds. Disclosing means death!"
"Black box? Brain death?" Han Fei turned to gaze at the Perfect Life logo on his headset. His head began to ache even more.
