Wen Tao ended the call and went back to the room. Han Fei and Zhang Chu could be seen frantically swiping the phone screen.
"What are you guys doing?"
"I put the data into the database using Han Fei's notes. I'm sure I'll be able to identify the guy based on his description shortly...! "Zhang Chu's expression became strange as he stared at the image on the screen.
In front of Han Fei, he placed the phone "Using the details you gave me, I found that old man's profile. Please confirm whether this is the same individual you encountered on Peace Avenue outside the clinic."
Han Fei exclaimed loudly after viewing the old man's image on the screen: "Yes, it is him. And he said that his entire family loves me! He particularly enjoys my performance!"
"He was telling the truth, in my opinion. However, you are misleading us ", To see the information on the screen, Zhang Chu rotated his phone, "This old man is a graveyard watchman in the outer city of New Shanghai, both his parents died early, no children, if he had a family to speak of, then his family should be hundreds of lonely graves in the outer city cemetery without a name written on them."
"Impossible! This old man was in the thrift store yesterday comforting me and asking me to cheer up, are you guys mistaken?" Han Fei repeatedly checked the information and pictures on his phone.
"He comforted you yesterday, right?" Zhang Chu switched to the last page on the phone, "Pay close attention; the old guy died three years ago. He was buried at the cemetery outside the city."
No inaccurate information can ever be provided by a government database. Han Fei examined the previous page. He had a ghostly pale face.
"A dead guy was comforting me in the thrift store?" Han Fei was terrified.
"You are correct about one thing, though. Undoubtedly, he was your fan. He laughed heartily at the your performance. Making people laugh while maintaining a serious expression in such an art. He also often play your show outside the cemetery at night. He also have scared passers-by several times, his citizen file has our police records of complaints."
Zhang Chu placed the phone aside after finishing his sentence. He and Wen Tao looked at Han Fei, "Don't worry. Come with us if you truly did not set a fire. We will not falsely charge a nice man while the real culprit is on the run."
"I will cooperate with you guys, but I wish to visit the antique street. I am still finding it hard to believe.", Han Fei's thoughts were raging. All of the pieces were mixed together. He had believed that he had a miserable life, but he had never imagined it to get this worse.
He went to the antique street and personally observed the completely destroyed avenue. Han Fei was in disbelief.
Somebody tried to destroy the trails. Even the ground is burnt and cracked open. Even if there was a shred of evidence, it would have turned to dust.
"Why would the dead old man approach me? Is it because he is my fan?"
"Other fans gave handwritten letters, chocolates, and pencils to the celebrities. Why do my admirers, who are already few, wish to kill me?"
Han Fei arrived at the Old Town Happiness Road Police Station around nine in the morning. His lips were white, and his mental condition was terrible; perhaps it was his first time in a police car.
"Chu, you keep a watch on him. I'll go tell Captain Wang about the visit." Zhang Chu let Han Fei enter the interrogation room after Wen Tao left. He believes that Han Fei, the "arsonist," is a dangerous criminal who must be locked up.
"You're seriously mistaken. Never in my life have I even lit a firework. How could I burn down the entire street?"
"Stay quiet now."
"There was a misunderstanding," Han Fei was still speaking when the interrogation room's door was unlocked "You're totally wrong! Someone else is the criminal! Even I am a victim!"
"Do not shout! Will you be set free if you start shouting?" The interrogation area was filled with the voice of a woman. Her feet were on the table when she sat down.
The first thing that came into his eyes was a pair of black mid-calf Martin boots cocked on the summons room table, followed by long, slender legs in black denim shorts.
"Have you given it a good look?"
She was absurdly well-built, and she was seated at the far end of the interrogation area. From the beginning, she didn't raise her head. She was preoccupied with her phone, yet she seemed to be aware of everything going on in the room.
"Enjoy while you can; you won't have another chance after you are detained. There is no limit set on the punishment for arson that causes major damage, even though our Criminal Law only addresses the crime of arson, not intentional arson. I've heard you set an entire street on fire; shouldn't you receive a life sentence? You're a cruel guy indeed, ah."
"Don't spew gibberish. I'm not like those criminals; I'm here to assist law enforcement in discovering the truth. This fire case is not simple; there is a mastermind behind this." Han Fei didn't give her much attention because his head was already occupied with games and conspiracies. Only two types of people may enter the police station interrogation room: cops or suspects.
"Who could be the mastermind?" The woman raised her head for the first time as if she had discovered something interesting.
"Indeed, burning a whole street takes proper preparation. More than one fire is lit at the same moment for the fire to spread fast. Unfortunately, the surveillance at the site, aside from you, did not capture anything, making it seem as though you were purposefully chosen as a scapegoat."
"At last, I've found someone who understands it.", The only person who had ever spoken in favor of Han Fei was that woman, and he had nothing nice to say about her.
"It's simple logic, but why would this person frame you? A bird won't hatch its own eggs. There must be something special about you." The woman's intuition was keen, and her eyes were extremely sharp.
"What issues could there possibly be? I worked so hard to gain the chance to appear on camera, but my colleagues prevented me from doing so; I wanted to relax for a while, but..." Han Fei thought it was a miracle he survived after what happened to him last night.
"Forget what I just said. I used to believe that when God closes a door to a person, He will always open a window, providing a ray of hope."
"What about now?"
"I believe God has not only locked all of my doors and windows but also stationed a ghost in my home."
Han Fei has never been one to interact much with others, but since playing Perfect Life, his words have become more frequent; perhaps this is a return to the positive light.
"I don't know the truth, but it seems like you're having a really horrible time."
"If I tell you about it, I will start crying. By the way, Jie Jie, what brought you in?" Han Fei approached the woman side by side.
'Jie Jie' The woman's eyelids twitched slightly, but she paid Han Fei no mind.
"I was in a fight because I fractured a man's nose and kicked the ribs of two other people; it was a serious situation, and I didn't think about it much."
"Are you capable of fighting so well?"
"You can say something like that."
The two had a smooth conversation, possibly because they were in the same condition. Han Fei attempted to speak about what had happened in the game.
"Your assumption is correct; there is unquestionably a freezer hidden in that old woman's home. However, they shouldn't be the killer based on their age. I think someone in her family committed the crime, thus she must just be hiding the body."
"I also think the same!"
The two people in the interrogation room were chit chatting as though they had matched up with the lottery money.
"What's the name of the old lady? As soon as I leave this place, I'll check it up for you." The woman's face was serious, and in a very unusual way, she appeared to believe what Han Fei had said.
"Her names was Meng Shi. She was very old about more than seventy-five years old, with a head full of silver hair. She also had a grandson named Chenchen."
"Alright." The woman recorded all the information with her phone.
"Please add my number. We can stay in touch."
"Thanks for your help, but I'm in a hurry here. When will the officers let me leave this place?"
"If you're short of time, I'll go right away." Immediately after saying so, the woman sprang up and kicked the door.
"Thud!"
The door opened, causing Han Fei to look utterly confused, "How can she leave like this?"
Following her forceful exit, the lady heard a roar coming from the police station: "Li Xue! You are sloppy and undisciplined! You're gone too far! I'm going to contact your boss!"
Han Fei paid close attention to what was being said before understanding, "She is a police officer?"
"Don't be fooled by her beauty. She is not a typical police woman. She joined the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) when she was just 23 years old. She helped solve numerous significant cases over five years. She was punished by being expelled from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for a period because she was constantly beating up suspects and not following the guidelines." Zhang Chu muttered and turned to look at the broken door lock.
Then he said, "To improve the criminal investigation, the police station would transfer her to lead the squad. But in reality, she was assigned to the police station to do basic duties as punishment because her supervisors want to properly polish her attitude."
