Alice had never expected the words that he had just said to ever come out of his mouth, and she keeled over to laugh as Noah pulled the earbuds out of her ear to put back into the case as well as his own before slipping the wired earbuds back into his briefcase and looked down at his phone to pause the audiobook.
Now that her interest was piqued, she actually wanted to get to know what he was listening to since a thriller book was definitely up her alley since she was more into those dealing with real life rather than fiction novels, however, both types of literature was fine with her. She just found herself gravitating toward memoirs and whatnot.
He got up to his feet, and she tilted up her head to meet his eyes now that he was his normal height that towered over her. He shrugged on his briefcase, and she suddenly turned her head to the side to cover her smile with her elbow but eventually turned back to him after smoothing on a somewhat neutral face with twitching lips.
She swallowed another round of laughter. "Sorry. I'm getting over what you said."
Noah huffed out a laughing breath and the door beside them slid open with a girl with her chestnut hair in twin tails to the side of her head with a confused expression on her face. The twin tails that would have looked quite young on anybody else looked quite fresh on the girl with the space buns and the curled strands remaining.
Alice froze in her place with crickets going off in her mind while Noah turned around his shoulder to see who it was, and the girl scratched her cheek. "Um, what are you two doing out here? Y'all can come in."
Alice inclined her head in apologies. "We were just about to head inside."
The girl motioned with her hands quickly with a smile. "Yes. Please come in."
Noah walked in first with Alice poking his back out of spite, and he lifted his gaze to her for a moment before flicking it back forward, and Alice took in the room as she slowly stepped inside the radio booth and bowed her head to those who seemed too busy in the back at the computer with them nodding back before returning to their work.
The room was divided in half with one side of the room having a large table with soundproof material on the walls with the center wall being glass so those sitting on the other side control volume and other details would be able to see in and communicate. The other side of the room had a small lounge sofa with a computer station that was currently occupied.
The girl lead them into the recording side, and Alice watched as some girls made their way over to the control panel to watch them as she and Noah walked inside the room. The large table was a dark color with a wooden finish, and the room had bright overhead lights to combat all the black and dark furniture with the exception of the red chairs.
Alice smoothed her hair around her shoulders and smiled at the girl who grabbed extra chairs for the main sound booth with a large microphone hovering over them all, but little ones stationed on the tables for individual speaking. She sat down in the chair before flattening down her skirt which was on its way of being a bit too crinkled to look appropriate.
She smiled as the girl grabbed her mug that she assumed to have coffee in there because of the big gulp that she took before she sat down in the main seat of the radio host. The girl took out her hand for both Noah and her to shake before they all sat back down, and the girl grabbed some glasses that were tossed over to another desk and perched them on her nose.
The glasses didn't seem to be prescription since they had a blue light rim around the lenses which Alice was all too familiar with considering that she had a similar pair at home after staring at a screen for too long at night time which would bring her constant headaches in the morning if she didn't wear them.
"Pleasure to meet you both," the girl smiled. "I'm Sharon, the vice president of the podcast and radio club. Daphne will be a bit late since she is out getting some materials for the show that will be airing soon."
Alice inclined her head again. "Yes. Likewise. May I ask what materials?"
Sharon waved her off. "Little games and whatnot you two will definitely laugh at."
Noah crossed his arms and nodded. "Thank you for inviting us."
Sharon grinned. "It was all my pleasure despite it being Madeline's idea in the first place. We're going to have a lot of fun, so you two, please relax."
